2017 / 2018 NHL Season

Vegas 7-1 using goaltenders that haven’t really played in the NHL before this year? Using players who haven’t had much for ice time before this year? What is going on?

SO after the win MB comes out and says he spoke to the team and coaches on
the west coast trip, basically telling them, solve it within, no help is coming from the outside.
Now I agree making trades when the ship is sinking is likely a bad move, but to think
this team is ok, is a mistake. Hopefully they can play better and improve, which I think
most would agree their record is worse than they are, but it does prove the team
is not as good as they or many thought. So improves need to come not only soon,
but over the draft and next summer or what we are seeing will our regular programming.

It makes it easier to watch when they compete thats for sure. I can live with a loss in hard fought
60 minute battle.

Leafs are a jeckle and Hyde team lol. Lay an egg against Ottawa, have a fantastic game and hand the Kings their first regulation loss and then lay another egg against Carolina. We shall see what happens against Philly tomorrow night.

Habs lose another. So much for the win calming things down a bit.

I watched the first period of the Habs game Thursday night.

Habs played great for the first 17 minutes, then 2 goals by LA in 20 seconds, game over.

Hopefully they do better against the Rangers tonight.

GHG !

Yeah i was away to my sons hockey game. Saw the scores on my phone. Was suprised to see 5 4 when i got home and turned it on to watch the tail end. Looked like a strong start. Now if they can just figure out how to keep it going for 60.

I missed the Game too, but a 5-4 win is as good as a 10-1 win, same 2 points. Next 2 games on the Road, Sens then Wild. Go Habs Go !

Was an interesting game, even going into the third, it was not 100 %
Nice to see Hudon gets goals along with a few others who needed it.

Their 3rd win in last 4 games, Leafs having as hard a time as Habs had on their trip out West, losing last 3. After the first Ottawa goal after 20 seconds of play, Montoya settled down and played well. I say put him in net Thursday against the Wild, then Saturday in Winnipeg, then put Price back in Sunday in Chicago.

Haps have their issues and they should win some games.
But in reality their season will go as Price goes, as it has for the last
5 years. I do like some of their young talent. quick and skilled, the new NHL.

Leafs went from winning the cup a week ago, to headlines should they panic.
Man they are a young team, give them a little time.

Edmonton is in worse shape, 1 game Mcdavid was going to get 300 points,
now they realize defence and goalie is part of the winning, who knew.

One game at a time, the games are high scoring and very entertaining. A slow start is better than winning the first 9 games in a row then tanking after. Hopefully Price will rest mentally this week and Stephane Waite can get him back on track.

Montoya had a good game. He is an excellent goalie and has had the last few years working alongside one of the best in the world. Price absolutely needed a mental break and the timing to throw him in net was perfect. A great confidence booster. Price laughing and stuff on the bench was nice to see. Beats being pulled mid game and he definitely needed that mental break. Definitely play Montoya for a few games. Montreal's fan base is hard on their team and I believe a guy like Price wears that on his shoulder and takes it to heart when he has a bad performance.

I said it earlier in this thread.....Montreal can't keep shooting as much as they do and continue to not get rewarded. At some point something has to give. Well looks like its turned with 13 goals in the last two games.

Leafs are on the dreaded west coast road trip. Never goes well for the Leafs but I hope they aren't at the 500 mark by the end of it. We shall see.

Anyone who knows anything about hockey can see that they aren't and never were an odds on favourite to win the cup. I don't think they can win with the team they have now. Are they close? Maybe. They really need more pieces before I would even consider them a favourite. Not sure Andersen is the answer either....he just doesn't seem to be consistent enough. Yes I know the team is young but I've been watching them for years and still see the same kinda mistakes that cost them games. They just can't quite get past it.

I think the need a solid D or two, but try and find them, not many good ones available.
Anderson is decent,, not sure if he is good enough for playoff run, time will tell.
They for sure need a solid back up.

Problem is in todays NHL, they say it takes time, well you don't have it.
Look at what they sign for, you can't keep them all, you have a 2-4 year window.
then guys come and go, finding the guys coming are very important.
Pittsburg, Hawks, LA are teams who have managed this well.
Detroit did it for 20 years, now look at them.

Its not easy and you need a bit of luck upon the way.
