2017 / 2018 NHL Season

Carey Price let 2 in goal within 10 seconds, and the Wild ended up winning game 6-3. Glad I didn't stay up late to watch that one.

The teams is not as good as last year, defence especially, rules change help skilled players more not goalies.
That said, price is no doubt no where near his normal self. Experts have many reasons why, but all say he will
figure it out. Lets hope so, next year they start paying him 10.5 million a year for a long time.

Funny side note ( maybe) I remember a preseason interview he did, which at time never thought much about.
He said he would watch hockey games every night on TV, he would work on things at home etc, besides the practices with team
and at the rink. He said now after daughter was born family is #1 priority, I don't think anyone would disagree with that.
But then he said, when leaves the rink now, he never watches any game, never even thinks hockey when not at rink.

Now we all know goalies study shooters, players, other goalies, technics and work on mental parts of the game.
Do you suppose there is any chance his lowered commitment levels, also adds to his lower results?
to be on top of any sport, your focus has to be 120% not 68 or 72. If he is not working the way he did to achieve success
what guarantee they will continue. God may give you the talent, but you still have to put in the work.

Equally important, what if he is declining early and we never see the price of old?
Tough questions, problems and solutions and likely only Price truly knows.

For what its worth he has been one of my favourites since he entered the league.

The refs stole 2 games last night? I thought they called a decent Montreal and Winnipeg game. Powerplay goals were a big difference maker in that one. At least 4 in the game. Montreal played a decent game in my opinion. Montoya played a decent game as well. .

I never watched the Toronto game but caught the highlights Refs did not seem to have their hand in any highlight I saw. I agree Jason they did not look like they had it together. Positioning had its hand in some of those goals.

What is it with those long road trips that snake bite teams?

Jason are you referring to the OT goal for Montreal?

Yep the no call in OT Habs and Jets. One goal for the Blues was a sluefoot/trip behind the net on the D then took the puck and scored. Last goal Steen smacked Andersen in the face with his stick lol. But blame Babcock for that because they didn’t challenge for goalie interference either.

Ive heard some say that Buff dove in the interference no call in OT. Ok fine he went down easily. Still means that if he dove it was a penalty so play is dead. Was interference so call both. Bottom line is play should have been dead and no goal on that play.

It was the 5th and 6th goals in the Leafs/Blues game that I was talking about. They didn’t show either on TSN even though you guys call it the Toronto Sports Network lol.

Patches didn't move into Buff's lane, he just stayed in place hence no interference. If Buff dived, then play continues until the puck is in the Jets net or one of the Jets players touches it. I'm happy with the in the net result myself :)

I figured that is the play you were speaking about Jason. It was the right call as there is no way Ruff goes down that easily as there was no intent on patches part. Do you call a dive in that situation? You can i guess but in OT the calls always come differently. Say you call the dive the play is not dead until a jets touches it anyways so outcome is the same. The crosscheck was a stupid penalty to take thus creating the 4 on 3 in the first place. That is where the jets need to be pissed. Player made a bad decision and i am sure he has owned up to it. But you know everyone will blame the no call on patches. Just the way it is.

I found it a good game to watch. Both teams played some good hockey. And of course i am happy with the result.

The Habs had 55 shots on Goal and managed to come back after blowing a lead. Only the 5th time Habs have won this year, and their wins have only come this year when Patch scores. TVA Commentator and Former Nordiques and Rangers Coach Michel Bergeron called Price a "Princess" last night. :FordSmile

They play the Blackhawks tonight. and have a chance if they played like they did last night and cut out the stupid, costly penalties.

in reality, the Buff one in OT was borderline, Patches didn't move and he was involved in an active play
50/50 at best, If you watched the game, the Jets, got away with a boat load and easily could have had another 7-8 callas against. That said, I find the Refs very inconsistent on most nights with most games.
This week I watched 3 games ( not habs) and reffing was no better. Its a league problem IMO.

as a fan, tough game to watch, 1 -1 end of first, montreal gets 16 shots one goal in 2nd.
Jets 4 shots one goal. When jets scored 2 quick ones in 3rd, I thought it was over.
Credit to Montreal for comeback. Defence is really bad on this team and it shows.
Going to be a long year I think and some decisions are going to have to be made at some point.

Interesting commentary on Price last night. His current contract has partial move clause. His new one at 10.5 million has full no move.
If Montreal needs to do complete rebuild, do you want a 10.5 mill goalie. Does price want to go through a rebuild.
I am not sure they need a complete rebuild, but partial is obvious to me anyone. So your core needs to be replaced.
that takes a few years. Going to be an interesting year and of course most Habs fans have no patience LOL.

Won't be boring, thats for sure and everything will be 2nd guessed by us experts :)

I was happy to see the determination in coming back and winning it. You cannot let as mich of the other stuff go in the game itself and then call that one against Buff in OT. I agree the officiating has been a little sub par. Maybe they are just in a slump as well and will catch up. Lol.

Price a Princess? Here is a but hurt Nordiques fan that hates the habs and has nothing better to do then kick someone when they are down. Price is definitely going trough something and he will bet trough it. Do i see him getting traded? Nope but what do i know. Lol

Refs suck is the bottom line lol.

FYI. Jets did touch the puck after the "interference" so would have been blown dead if you give Buff a penalty for diving.

FYI NHL definition of interference.

What is Interference?
An infraction where a player is preventing another player from getting to or playing the puck, or is illegally blocking a player's way to the puck. Interference is called in nearly every circumstance where a player not in possession of the puck is stopped, regardless of the method used to stop that player. Interference most often results in a minor penalty, but can also be given as a major or match penalty depending on the severity of the violence involved in the act of interference.

I didn't see any replays of the goal where he chopped down the Dman behind the net. Anyway bottom line is the officiating has been terrible this year regardless of who's playing.
