You’re all welcomed.
In reading this over, I thought I should do a full disclosure on the Ford Racing intake.
This piece should be reserved for use only with ported heads, big cam and long tube headers, along with appropriate supporting TB, CAI and a gear swap.
It is the only way it gives good return, if you prioritize high rpm power over easy drivability and passenger approachability-comfort.
The reason is because with any less supporting hardware, this intake loses too much low end torque and drivability.
If one were to use it without the supporting goodies, you would not like driving your car compared to its stock form
The supporting hardware needs to include the LT’s.
And we have already had a lengthy discussion on those.
They increase noise level a lot.
If not willing to do LT’s, don’t even consider the FR intake.
For fun and occupant friendly driving on 3V S197, one needs to retain the factory intake manifold.
So a good recipe would be good CAI, TB, Hot Rod cams and LT’s optional.
If doing cams and/or LT’s then CMDP’s should be highly considered.
Also a strong consideration to going up at least one gear size in the rear.
So for manual 05 to 10, go from 3.55 to 3.73.
This will help the cams to get going because they too lose a bit of low end when getting going from a stop, but not nearly as much as the FR intake.
So, basically I’m saying don’t throw this intake on because it looks good.
Without the supporting hardware, you will not like your car.
The engine bay of the user friendly formula using recent proven and quality parts would look something like this.
The Hot Rod cams would really give it character and add performance.
LT’s totally optional and up to each individual.
