2019 California Special Race Red

Thanks. What clear are you referring to Trevor? Yeah I almost ceramic coated them however changed my mind. I do have a bottle here but technically it is expired by 4 years so not sure if I want to do it or not. Will see they are not installed yet so I may change my mind. Lol.

CLear coat as in paint clear coat
Especially on bare metal you had
IE: non painted surfaces

Ahh ok I was sure if you meant the same or not. My clear still looks ok that I can tell but will take a look. I know i used some of the spray clear a few years ago and it was garbage. But it may have improved.
I was thinking of your cleaned metal part of wheels, which like had finishes taken off during dealers process.
trick to clear is buy as if your painting something, from paint shop, not after market products being sold direct to consumers.
your going to paint supply store to buy as if paint car.

All that said, you cleaned, waxed your wheels, your good to go.
in order for clear coat to work, they have to be super clean or prepped for clear.

Yeah I get it. The last stuff I used many moons ago came from an auto body supply store that services local paint shops. It was in a can however and not your typical clear that the paint shops would use in their sprayers. I looked the wheels over pretty good as I was cleaning them and putting some protection on them and I feel confident as well I should be ok.

I suspect what you have done will work fine, and your cleaning them several times a year
so shouldn't be an issues.

Ok I would like to start of this post as a disclaimer to my wife I know I know i said I wouldn't modify the exhaust.lol

I have been looking into H pipes with the active exhaust which removes the factory resonators not the cats. Has anyone done that with the active exhaust? Thoughts? Just looking for a bit deeper sound without changing much more.

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but I can speak to the resonator delete with no regrets.

Granted, that was using the Corsa double X pipe, but active exhaust, keeping the cats and deleting the resonators none the less.

I found searching on youtube was a great resource for picking the right pipe for the job, I highly recommend it as part of your research.

Although if the wife is in the room while you're listening to videos, you might want to consider headphones.

I didn't have that problem. ;)

It’s not resonatorS.
It’s one big suitcase size resonator.

You’re going to drop about 30 lbs of weight by doing that mod and it will breathe more freely, enough to net you a few extra hp.
I forget the exact catch phrase number but somewhere between 5 to 8 hp comes to mind.

Just doing that mod changes nothing to, nor does it affect your variable exhaust in any way.
It will keep your cats as well.
It’s a very safe mod.

I have it on my ‘15 and Mike from St-John has it done to his Mach 1.

A very good quality H pipe, and is the one Mike has, is the Roush H pipe.
I have the Mishimoto H pipe.

It will sound a bit throatier or deeper as you mention but it will be a bit. Just a bit louder than with the resonator in any given exhaust mode.
But with the variable exhaust, you can control that.

I don’t have a before picture on the car, but you can see the size of the resonator in the white cardboard box in this picture.

This is the finished result with the H pipe in place.
Very clean and does not even come close to touching your mufflers in the back.
You can see the down pipe from the manifolds is also not touched or affected.
You see the LHS cat on the other side of the transmission.

I did the 17/8” Kook long tubes with green cat backs and like Marc said the Roush H pipe and I like the sound it is loud on track mode but not bad on normal. I did not have that much drive time stock less that 800kms so can’t really say the difference but it is louder but a nice rumble

Wow thanks for the quick suggestions. Very much appreciated. Yes I have gone on you tube and listened to a few pipes so far just trying to get real life info as well as I just started. I am leaning more towards the H as I like throatier vrs raspier I guess. They do each have their unique sound. I didn’t realize it was one big resonator and the weight of it. That’s crazy. I heard you did gain a few HP because it breaths better. I will check out the suggested pipe brands as well. Louder and a nice rumble is exactly what I am aiming for. I would like to keep the cats for now. Lol
