[h=1]Drive It As Is! 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1[/h]

Finding a running, driving project car is always a plus, and while this 1970 Mustang Mach 1 might not be ready to drive across, the country, the owner feels that there is no reason why you couldn’t drive it locally exactly as it currently stands. It has a few issues, but it also appears as though it is a car that might restore quite nicely. The Mustang is located in Houston, Texas, and is listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has now reached $11,650, and with the reserve having been met, it is a Mustang that is set to move on to a new home.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1970-Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
When it comes to problems, this appears to be the worst of them in this Competition Yellow classic. The owner admits that there is Bondo here, but doesn’t reveal whether he knows why the Bondo was layered on there in the first place. The way it has lifted around the edges, there is a possibility that there will be rust to be addressed underneath. The rest of the body of the Mustang looks to be pretty solid, while the trunk pan looks good as well. There is a single photo of the underside of the car, and while it reveals that the rear half of the car seems to have nothing more than a coating of surface corrosion, we can’t really tell how healthy the front floors, front frame rails, or the torque boxes are.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1970-Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The majority of the black trim inside the Mustang doesn’t look too bad, but there will be a few items that will need to be attended to. The center will need to be secured on the rim-blow wheel, while the car is also fitted with an aftermarket radio/cassette player. It doesn’t look like the dash has been cut to fit this, but the door trims have been to install speakers. There is also a crack in the dash pad, but the rest of the interior looks like it should generally respond quite well to some intensive cleaning. One potential bonus is the fact that the Mustang is fitted with factory air conditioning, but I don’t believe that this is currently working.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1970-Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Powering the Mustang is a 351ci V8 engine. The car is also fitted with a 3-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and power front disc brakes. Since 1997, the Mustang has only managed to accrue around 8,000 miles, and only about 1,000 since the transmission received a rebuild. To bring the car back to reasonable health, it has recently had the entire fuel system flushed and cleaned, the Holley carburetor has been treated to a rebuild, along with the car receiving new sets of both plugs and tires. There are a few additional parts that are included with the Mustang, including the original air cleaner, and an additional rebuilt Holley carb. As the owner states, he would be happy to drive the Mustang to the grocery store, but wouldn’t trust it on a long trip at this stage.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1970-Ford-Mustang-Mach-1-5-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
After the 1969 model year, Ford chose to soften the styling of the Mustang slightly for 1970. There was a feeling within the company that the 1969 styling was too aggressive, but the restyle didn’t assist total sales, which proved lower than the previous year. This 1970 Mustang is quite a nice looking car, and I would love to know exactly what is hiding under the Bondo. If there isn’t anything too nasty, and if the underside of the car is solid and clean, then this could be a great project car for the Blue-Oval enthusiasts out there.

[h=1]Award Winner: 1974 De Tomaso Pantera[/h]

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1974-De-Tomaso-Pantera-1-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

We have seen some nice Panteras here at Barn Finds in recent times, but this car definitely rates as one of the nicest. It has won numerous awards at different shows, including a Best Award at a show featuring more than 300 Panteras. Barn Finder Pat L referred this Silver beauty to us, so thank you for that Pat. The Pantera is located in San Diego, California, and is listed for sale here on Craigslist. The owner is serious about parting with the car after 35-years of ownership and has priced it at $119,000 OBO.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1974-De-Tomaso-Pantera-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
I have always liked the styling purity of the early Pantera, and have always felt that they really never needed to huge fender flares and spoilers that have adorned some versions over the years. This car, finished in Silver and Black, presents flawlessly. I think that it is the attention to detail that makes this car something a bit special. This is best displayed with the work that has gone into detailing the original factory wheels, which you can see in detail at the bottom of the article. The combination of polishing and powder-coating give the wheels a truly unique look and help the car to really stand out from the crowd.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1974-De-Tomaso-Pantera-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The original 351ci Cleveland V8 hasn’t been exempt from this attention to detail. This has been stretched to 377ci, and still sends its power to the rear wheels via a 5-speed ZF transaxle. The engine wears a special Ford polished experimental intake, and I would be willing to guarantee that it now pumps out way more than its original 266hp. In the owner’s own words, “It sounds awesome.” One of the weaknesses of the Pantera was engine cooling issues. The owner says that these issues have been addressed by some useful upgrades to the car’s cooling system. Once again, it is the attention to detail that makes things so striking, and I have included extra photos at the bottom of the article so that you can see this for yourself.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1974-De-Tomaso-Pantera-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The black and grey interior of the Pantera presents just as well as the rest of the car, and apart from the aftermarket grey seat inserts, and the CD player, it remains original. There really isn’t a lot that can be faulted inside the car, and it features the standard power windows and air conditioning that is said to blow ice cold. I guess for me the highlight is always going to be the chrome shifter gate. I think that those look tough and purposeful, and it is almost enough to make me buy the car myself. Okay, I did say “almost.”
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1974-De-Tomaso-Pantera-5-e1566177427301-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
If you are generally attracted to the De Tomaso Pantera, then there is a pretty good chance that you’ll like this one. It just presents so well, and it has enough useful upgrades that should make it a reliable and potent car. Values on the Pantera continue to rise, but unlike the majority of classic cars, the values on the Pantera have risen in incremental stages over the past 5-years, with short plateau periods in between each rise. The Pantera was one of the few classics where the values held firm during the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, which would suggest that they also represent a pretty solid long-term investment. Leaving all of that aside though, this is just one really nice looking car that would stand out wherever it went.

[h=1]Wonderful Survivor: 1968 Ford Mustang California Special[/h]

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cal-special-front-e1566259603984-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

This 1968 Ford Mustang GT California Special is an impressive survivor, highly original in its condition and still wearing its California black plates. The seller provides a compelling narrative as to the car’s longtime West Coast roots and long-term ownership in the hands of an elderly couple. It does have needs but few C/S are likely this honest. Find it here on eBay with bidding over $9K and the reserve unmet.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cal-special-rear-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
While you can argue back and forth about the novelty factor of the California Special, there’s little doubt these are rare cars that don’t often come up for sale in this sort of condition. The seller notes that it shows mostly original paint and that the cosmetic pieces specific to the CS kit are all present and accounted for. The listing notes the original fiberglass tail panel is cracked.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cal-special-owner-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
This photo shows the longtime owner before passing it on to the seller. The eBay listing describes how the couple owned the car well into their later years for driving to appointments and errands before it simply became too difficult to use daily. The owner begrudgingly handed over the keys and the memories, as he bought this car for his wife on her birthday.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cal-special-interior-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Inside, the driver’s seat has been replaced but the rest of the cabin is said to remain original. The dash pad isn’t cracked, and the seller notes that all the lights and signals are operational. A large amount of spares are available to purchase separately, including a replacement taillight panel, California Special script/graphics kit, and original Cobra 289/302 valve covers.

I like this one, 1975, when the Trans Am wasn't a Gutless Flashy Car.

We here at Barn Finds always appreciate a low-mileage survivor, and this ’75 T/A is no exception. For sale here on eBay out of Needham, Massachusetts, this documented silver beauty is in impressively good condition and has about two days left on the auction. Let’s hurry and check it out!

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/s-l1600-1-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
If you’re reading this, you probably know that the Firebird was introduced alongside the Camaro in 1967, meant to compete with the Mustang and Cougar. You probably also know that Pontiac was the sporty marque under the General’s command. I bet you also know 1975 as the first year with catalytic converters, a new rear window and nose, and the year before Pontiac’s 50th Anniversary!
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/s-l1600-2-5-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

Now then, let’s look closer at this superb example of a second-generation. The seller took some really decent pictures, and we are given a laundry list of facts and details. It’s silver over black, no T-Tops, and is motivated by a 400 with four-speed. It apparently has 17,800 original miles, and the seller has not only PHS documents, but a notarized letter from the first owner, attesting to that. There have been a few upgrades done, such as stainless exhaust and Edelbrock intake, but we’re told that the original parts are available with the car. Also, check out that list of options on the paper! Air, tilt wheel, rear-seat console, power windows and locks, Stereo 8-Track, and the list goes on.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/s-l1600-3-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
To be perfectly honest, I’m finding it difficult to accurately capture this car in words. It’s just so NICE! Not perfect, but nice. I get the “wow” when I look at the exterior, I get it again with the interior, and I get it a third time when I look at the engine compartment. It’s all just so clean.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/s-l1600-4-1-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
I would love to have this car, however my situation does not allow it. I hope that the next owner takes at least as much care of it as the previous two evidently have. It’s just so… NICE! How about you, what do you think of this silver survivor?

[h=1]Clean And Solid: 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback[/h]
Adam-Clarke_avatar_1531128110-24x24.jpg

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1965-Ford-Mustang-Fastback-1-e1566360361579-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

When it comes to clean and solid project Mustangs that possess a world of potential, this 1965 Mustang Fastback really has to be one of the best. This is an incredibly solid and clean car, and the only rust that the next owner will need to tackle is surface corrosion. The Mustang is located in Littleton, Colorado, and is listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has now jumped to $18,800, but the reserve hasn’t been met.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1965-Ford-Mustang-Fastback-2-e1566360559179-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
There are times when you look at a potential 1st generation Mustang project car, and you start adding up in your head just how many replacement rust panels that you will be buying for a particular car. Well, it doesn’t look like there will be that concern with this car because it is as clean as a whistle. The owner provides this YouTube video which shows every aspect of the car. All of the usual spots such as floors, frame rails, torque boxes, rockers, and lower quarter panels, are close to perfect. There is surface corrosion in a few spots, but it is really no more than scale and should be easy to address. In addition, the panels look straight, all of the gaps look consistent, the glass is all good, and the Mustang wears a shiny new pair of bumpers. The Mustang is also fitted with a nice looking set of aftermarket wheels, and those stay on the car when it sells. In addition, the original wheels and hubcaps are also included.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1965-Ford-Mustang-Fastback-3-e1566360527310-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Powering the Mustang is a 289ci C-Code engine, which is hooked to an automatic transmission. The Mustang is also fitted with power steering and disc brakes. You would really think that we might be due for some bad news, but there really isn’t any to speak of. The previously mentioned YouTube video shows the engine starting and running, and it sounds sweet and clean. It looks like there might be a gasket that’s weeping in the automatic transmission, but it has done little more than leave a light coating of fluid on the transmission pan. The owner does say that the carburetor could do with a rebuild, but the car is essentially good enough to use as a driver now.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1965-Ford-Mustang-Fastback-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Even the interior doesn’t look bad, and it could certainly be used as it is. The car was fitted with aftermarket air conditioning by its original owner, but this doesn’t currently operate. There is an aftermarket radio/cassette player mounted in the dash, but thankfully, the dash hasn’t been cut to fit this. In further good news, the original radio is sitting in the trunk, and it will go with the car. The covers on the seats look reasonable, but I do see some wear in the ones on the front seats, and wouldn’t mind betting that these will need replacing at some point in the future. Frankly, I’m sitting here looking at these photos, and all that I want to do is get in and give the interior a good clean. I suspect that it would respond quite well to that.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1965-Ford-Mustang-Fastback-5-e1566360629487-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
When it comes to solid restoration projects, this Mustang just has to be up there with the best of them. The next owner is not going to be faced with a mountain of cutting and welding, and it looks like it should be a straightforward cosmetic restoration. Even better, the car really looks like it could essentially be driven and enjoyed immediately, and the restoration work could then be tackled when time and circumstances allow it. This really is a car that is worth serious consideration.

[h=1]Garaged 18 Years: 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente[/h]

The third-generation Comet gained a stacked-headlight configuration that is very similar to AMC’s design of the same period, maybe that’s why I like them so much. This 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente convertible can be found here on eBay in South Park, Pennsylvania with a $7,300 buy-it-now price or you can make an offer. This could be a screaming bargain, let’s check it out.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/082219-1966-Mercury-Comet-Caliente-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
I absolutely love this grille and stacked-headlight design. One of my favorite cars of all time is a 1966 AMC Ambassador which looks so similar that it makes a person wonder about corporate spying in those days. It’s also, or course, related to the 1966 Ford Fairlane that was used in Dragnet. Stacked headlights: yea or nay? They get a very, very big yea from me.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/082219-1966-Mercury-Comet-Caliente-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

I’m surprised at the seller’s asking price for this car, frankly. It looks so nice in the photos that this could be an absolutely crazy bargain. And when I say crazy I mean with a capital-C. Hagerty is at $12,500 for a #4 fair condition car. A #3 good condition car is valued at $17,000 which about $10,000 more than the seller is asking for this one. It sure looks like a person could do whatever it needs for less than $10,000, but they do say that it needs to have the brightwork, bodywork, and paint restored. If that’s the case, maybe it would be more than $10,000. Hagerty’s #2 excellent condition value is $24,300, just for the record.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/082219-1966-Mercury-Comet-Caliente-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The interior looks great and this car has a three-speed manual transmission with a column shifter. Sure, a floor-shifter would probably be more desirable, or maybe an automatic, but it is what it is. They say that everything works including the power top. This car has to be worth $7,300, doesn’t it?
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/082219-1966-Mercury-Comet-Caliente-5-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
It doesn’t have a six-cylinder which I thought it might, but there’s a 289 cubic-inch V8 with a two-barrel carb under the hood which would have had 200 hp. It isn’t a monster 390 V8 but it’s a nice engine and there are endless upgrades that a person could do to wring some more power out of it. This car runs and drives and has a new master cylinder. It sat in a garage for 18 years so it will need to be gone through thoroughly, but what do you think about this ’66 Comet Caliente convertible? Good buy or good-bye?

[h=1]Original Barn Find: 1966 Ford Bronco 4×4[/h]

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1966-Ford-Bronco-e1566581197498-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

Here we have a true classic barn find Bronco! This 1966 Ford Bronco was recently pulled out of a barn after some 35 years. Currently, there have been 12 bids pushing the price up to $13,999. It is located in Harriman, Tennessee and has an original yellow Tennessee title. The owner had a friend list it for them, but hopefully, they can answer any questions. Unfortunately, no VIN is listed, but it has a claimed 53,150 miles on the odometer. You can view more here on eBay.

[IMG2=JSON]{"alt":"1966 Ford Bronco","data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/s-l1600-2-7-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
According to the listing, the truck has its original factory 6 cylinder engine with a three on the tree manual transmission. There is no mention of it being able to run and drive.. The listing is sort of confusing on who owned the truck and when, but one thing is for sure, it is a true 4×4 as indicated by the floor-mounted shifter.
[IMG2=JSON]{"alt":"1966 Ford Bronco","data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/s-l1600-1-6-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

Inside, the seats are still intact and the ceiling is in good condition. The floors and rockers all seem to have surface rust, but nothing alarming based on the photos. Even photos of the underside of the truck show lots of surface rust, but no large holes. The seller notes that there are some bad rust spots though, especially around the hood. I suppose it will be up to your definition if this Bronco has bad rust or not.
[IMG2=JSON]{"alt":"1966 Ford Bronco","data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/s-l1600-13-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The seller mentions that the truck has original glass that is complete and a 5 lug bolt pattern. In the listing, they mention that it was going to be a project truck, but because the desire to have a 2 wheel drive truck was the goal, they stopped working before taking away the originality of this Bronco. It is a good thing they did because this truck has a lot of potential and being a first-year Bronco means it is quite desirable to collectors.

$500 is the basic cost of entry to project car ownership of almost every kind, so you really just have to pick your poison if you have a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket. This 1985 Merkur XR4ti is one such project car that comes with the preferred combination of the 2.3L turbocharged engine and five-speed manual transmission. Find it here on craigslist in non-op status with the pink slip in the glovebox.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/merkur-rear-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The seller is correct in stating he could part it out for far more than $500, likely at least doubling his money if he felt like stripping it down and shipping parts around the country. Not many folks feel like doing that, however, and there’s enough to work with here that someone may grab it as a $500 builder or a parts rig for a more compelling project. Given it’s in California, rust is hopefully a non-issue.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/merkur-interior-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The old-school California license plates give some indication as to how long it’s been off the road. The interior presents as largely complete, right down to the rare Fisher cassette box still being in the dash. Speaking of the dash, it’s been ravaged by the sun, as you might expect, but the rest of the listing photos show an interior in largely good shape with clean-looking gray leather bucket seats.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/merkur-engine-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The turbocharged four-cylinder is the engine of choice in any number of 1980s Ford products designed to go head-to-head with the import crowd. This particular engine bay looks reasonably complete despite the fact that the car has clearly been parked for some time. The seller doesn’t elaborate as to how long it’s been sitting, but hey – for $500, you can’t ask too many questions, can you?

[h=1]Under 5,000 Miles: 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra[/h]
Jeff-Lavery_avatar_1510763369-24x24.jpg
Jeff Lavery
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cobra-side-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

This 1993 Ford Mustang Cobra has just 4,890 original miles and presents in as-new condition. The seller notes there are zero modifications and that every body panel is as it left the factory with proper markings noted. Given the rise in interest in “youngtimer” collector cars from the 80s and 90s, this nicely preserved Cobra is sure to drive a strong price. Find it here on eBay with bidding over $43K and the reserve unmet.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cobra-rear-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Periodicals like Sports Car Market have begun dedicating entire pages of their publication to next-generation collector cars. Yes, there are buyers under the age of 40 who are willing to throw $50K-$100K at their childhood dream car, with cars like the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra bringing big money in showroom form. This Cobra is another example of the breed, and ranks right up there with those supercars.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cobra-interior-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The Cobra is nicely appointed with gray leather bucket seats and matching door panels / carpets. The interior shows virtually no signs of wear and despite being on the cheaper side quality-wise, there’s no evidence of deterioration of weak spots like the storage pockets on the doors. The seller notes the headliner is perfect and the spare tire and jack have never been used. The console also has no wear noted.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/cobra-engine-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The Cobra churned out a respectable 235 b.h.p. and 280 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers pale in comparison to the ridiculous performance of the latest GT, but that’s not the point of buying a car like this. Yes, performance matters, but so does owning the best example of one of the top muscle cars of the era. This Cobra, in my opinion, deserves to clear $50K, but you need to have the right buyers in the room.

Just imagine…You’re looking at purchasing a 65,000-mile Dodge Viper. You climb in for a test drive and turn the ignition. The 500+ horsepower 8.3L V-10 comes to life and you pull out onto the street. Suddenly, the tires lose traction and you slide sideways into a tree. That’s a brief recap of what happened to this car. It can be found here on eBay with a current bid just over $3,000. Being offered by LTC Motion Inc. in Addison, Illinois, it’s unclear if the car was wrecked on a test drive while the current dealer owned it, or if they are just flipping it. Either way, hopefully, this car can be a donor for another project.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2004-Dodge-Viper-3-e1566877511585-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Here you can see just how far the tree intruded into the passenger compartment. The door panel is pushed so far in, it’s nearly touching the console! I hope the driver was okay, but looking at the damage, they surely suffered some lower leg injuries at the very least. Clearly, not too much of the interior is usable, but there may be some bits and pieces that are salvageable.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2004-Dodge-Viper-1-e1566877544566-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

According to the ad, the engine starts no problems and has no leaks. Same for the transmission. The clutch is said to work as well, although I’m not sure exactly how that was tested? The wheels and tires are upgraded and said to be in good condition. I guess if you had a Viper that needed a new drive train or you had a project that you wanted a unique engine for, this would be a great car to buy. I don’t think it will be rebuilt as-is, but you never know. What do you think of this car?

[h=1]Manual and Turbocharged… Mercury? 1986 Mercury Cougar XR-7[/h]
blank.gif
Kevin Barr
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1986-Mercury-Cougar-XR-7-Front-Quarter-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

When most folks think about the now-defunct Mercury division of the Ford Motor Company, they don’t usually think about sporty vehicles or manually rowing through the gears. However, with the popular FoMoCo Fox platform underpinning it, this 1986 Mercury Cougar XR-7 that Barn Finds reader Rocco B. found here on Craigslist should be a fun driver.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1986-Mercury-Cougar-XR-7-Front-End-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
This XR-7 is available in Lake Linden, Michigan with a clean title. The seller is a former Ford automotive engineer, who painstakingly took care of the vehicle upon purchasing it in 2008. The advertisement details various fixes for neglected maintenance, as well as “select functional (and reversible if desired) upgrades.”
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1986-Mercury-Cougar-XR-7-Logo-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

The exterior of the vehicle features a Razzi aftermarket aerodynamics kit, and the seller notes that it received a respray at one point during its life. The body does have some small imperfections, but because this car originally came from the west coast, the undercarriage is in impressive shape.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1986-Mercury-Cougar-XR-7-Interior-e1566859061509-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a maroon interior theme, which nicely contrasts the black exterior. There are some flaws with the fabric, such as sun fade and a few burn holes, as well as other minor imperfections, such as scuffing on plastic trim bits and missing paint on driver’s door switch panel. Even though there are some blemishes, the more important thing is that functions such as the lights, power functions, cruise control, air conditioning, vehicle message display, and more all operate as intended.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1986-Mercury-Cougar-XR-7-Engine-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The XR-7 features a turbocharged 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine, which pairs to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 3.45 ratio limited-slip differential. The car has 99,950 miles on it and the seller mentions the vehicle received a tune-up upon purchase. It’s worth noting that after the 1986 model year, Mercury began using a V8 engine in the Cougar XR-7, making this the last four-cylinder and rear-wheel-drive model the company produced.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1986-Mercury-Cougar-XR-7-Rear-Quarter-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
For $3,500, you could have this Mercury delivered to you – the seller is very confident in its condition and offers to personally deliver the vehicle anywhere in the lower 48 states, though it will come at a slight cost. Would you take delivery of this Cougar, or would you pass on this turbo Mercury?

[h=1]390 And A 4-Speed! 1967 Mustang GT Fastback[/h]
Todd-Fitch_avatar_1510764313-24x24.jpg

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-S-Code-Mustang-1-e1567017830218-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

Before the fuzzy blue primer and a red paint job of unknown origin, this 1967 Mustang GT in Gratiot, Wisconsin left the factory wearing elegant Acapulco Blue, a personal favorite Mustang hue along with Gulfstream Aqua. This true GT also began life with the potent S-code 390 cid (6.4L) V8 and four-speed manual transmission. At some point that powertrain went AWOL. A later small block and five-speed motivate this Sportroof ‘Stang today. The listing here on eBay has attracted at least 60 bids and accumulated a market price of $18,300 without meeting the seller’s reserve.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-S-Code-Mustang-2-e1567017873103-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The Deluxe interior with console looks rather well-kept or updated, and the sale includes more interior parts as well. A date-correct engine and transmission are available at extra cost. Whether you plan to re-sell this car or keep it, the Acupulco Blue paint with a black deluxe interior enjoys broad appeal. The five speed manual (no doubt with overdrive) would save the motor and the new owner’s gas card from needless wear and tear.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-S-Code-Mustang-3-e1567017847297-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

There’s nothing wrong with a good-running 302 (5.0L) or 351 (5.8L) but a true S-code car deserves a proper 390 even if it’s not original. That ignition setup suggests the car last enjoyed some attention in the late ’90s or early 2000s.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-S-Code-Mustang-4-e1567017859350-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The listing includes excellent details. The seller knows Mustangs and describes the car’s rust and likely work required to do the job right, as this blue-painted pony deserves. Whether stock or custom, let’s hope this GT turns its tires soon rather than hibernating another decade or more only to be “found” again. How would you finish it?

[h=1]Parked For A Decade: 1972 Jaguar E-Type[/h]
Adam-Clarke_avatar_1531128110-24x24.jpg

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-1-e1567130936891-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

This 1972 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 has spent its entire life in a climate-controlled garage and has only recently emerged following a decade-long hibernation. It is a solid and complete car but will require some work before it is ready to return to the road again. It is located in Southampton, New York, and is listed for sale here on eBay. The auction on the Jag is set to open at $19,995 with No Reserve. While there have been no bids to this point, there are currently 99 people who are watching the listing.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-2-e1567130958781-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
One of the greatest enemies of an E-Type is rust, but it appears that the storage conditions for this one must have been close to ideal, as this doesn’t look to be an issue. The Ascot Fawn paint that graces the flanks of the car actually doesn’t look to be too bad, and I think that it would respond quite nicely to a polish. The external trim and chrome also look to be quite good, while there are no indications of any corrosion on those fabulous wire wheels.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Compared to the exterior condition, the interior is a bit of a disappointment. There is going to be some restoration work required, but there is no real reason why the interior couldn’t be used as it is on a short-term basis. The dash pad is cracked, while new carpet and new covers for the seats will be on the shopping list. A few of the switches and their surrounds on the dash are looking a bit ordinary, but at least the interior doesn’t look like it has been modified in any way. One nice little bonus is that this Jag has been fitted with air conditioning, which should make life more comfortable on those scorching Summer days.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
By 1972, the E-Type was only available with the 5,343cc V12 engine, although there was a choice between a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic transmission. This car features the manual unit, which sends the V12’s 272hp to the rear wheels. Power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes were standard fare on an E-Type by this point in time. After a decade of inactivity, there will be some refurbishment work required before this car is ready to hit the road again. Having said that, the owner has managed to coax the V12 back to life, although he does say that the fuel system is in need of a good clean. At least that’s a starting point, although there will probably be other work required, including basic servicing and a thorough check of areas such as the brakes before the car can be pointed at the road.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1972-Jaguar-E-Type-5-e1567130977502-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
One thing that we become very used to with Jaguar E-Type projects is to see them for sale at some truly outrageous prices. Many of those cars require major rust repairs before they could even be close to being road-ready. This particular car appears to be different, because not only does the price appear to be quite reasonable, but it seems as though it has also survived well, with no obvious rust issues. Those two factors might make this Jag a really good prospect for the potential new owner.

[h=1]Clean Notchback: 1991 Ford Mustang LX[/h]
Jeff-Lavery_avatar_1510763369-24x24.jpg
Jeff Lavery
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ford-mustang-front-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

This 1991 Ford Mustang LX coupe is a desirable notchback example with the 5.0L V8 and a manual transmission. This is one of the best investments you can make in an early 90s Ford product, in my opinion, as interest continues to escalate in these modern classics. While hatchbacks are a dime a dozen, clean notches are relatively scarce. Find this example here on eBay with bids approaching $9K and no reserve.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ford-mustang-rear-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The seller notes the Mustang remains in largely stock condition, with the exception of an aftermarket exhaust. Given how good these cars sound with even the crummiest of performance mufflers, I’m OK with that. The Mustang even retains its stock radio, which likely provides some comfort that it was never owned by a teenaged driver. The seller notes the body is very nice for the age, but not perfect.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ford-mustang-interior-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The Titanium Cloth interior is surprisingly handsome, and a huge improvement in the tan material we often see in these cars. The seller notes that this combination makes the Mustang one of just 307 built this way, which is fairly rare by Fox body standards. The interior presents well despite being a Florida car, which likely means it resided in indoor storage.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ford-mustang-engine-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The seller says the car runs and drives quite well, with only some minor issues noted. The speedometer tends to jump around, which is likely sender related, and the seller noted that the tires are starting to crack which is fairly typical for long-stored vehicles. Overall, if it presents as well as described, this is a car you can drive right now that will enjoy a steady increase in value moving forward.

[h=1]Project Notch: 1985 Ford Mustang LX[/h]

Up until recently, Ford’s “Foxbody” Mustang was a popular choice among those seeking affordable performance. While these Mustangs and their parts generally aren’t as plentiful or reasonably priced these days, this 1985 Ford Mustang LX that’s available here on eBay has a realistic Buy it Now price, making it a tempting choice for a project.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1985-Ford-Mustang-LX-Interior-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
This Mustang is available in Castro Valley, California with a clean title. The seller mentions that the vehicle has remained “parked for a while,” but does not specify how long the vehicle was dormant. In any case, they recommend that the buyer of this Mustang takes it home on a trailer.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1985-Ford-Mustang-LX-Side-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

Despite the obvious patina on the vehicle’s Regatta Blue paint, this Mustang supposedly has no concerning rust spots, and it is the desirable “notch” body style. Also, up until the 1987 model year, the Foxbody featured a quad front headlight setup, making this one of the last to feature the “four-eyed” front end.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1985-Ford-Mustang-LX-Fabric-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Inside the cabin, you’ll find a surprisingly tidy interior. Though the dashboard will likely need replacement due to sun exposure, the rest of the interior is well kept – especially the blue seats.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1985-Ford-Mustang-LX-Engine-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The 5-digit odometer displays 58,835 miles and a vehicle history report included in the eBay advertisement seems to confirm this as the true mileage. There’s a 3.8-liter V6 engine under the hood, which pairs to an automatic transmission to drive the rear wheels. Though the advertisement mentions how the engine starts quick and runs smooth, the seller claims there is currently an electrical issue with the fuel pump.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1985-Ford-Mustang-LX-Rear-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Due to the issue with the fuel pump, the seller adjusted this Mustang’s price to $1,850. If I were buying, I’d keep the exterior and interior on this project as-is, and then drop in a powerful driveline swap. What would you do with this project notch?

These awesome 1966 Ford Broncos are being advertised as “his and hers,” complete with vanity plates. The seller does say they will consider selling them separately, but the pair is pretty cool together! They can be found here on Craigslist with an asking price of $69,000 for the pair. They are supposedly both un-cut, original, half-cab Broncos! Thanks to Rocco B. for the tip on this great pair of Fords. Let’s check them out!

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1966-Broncos-2-e1567093865206-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
We’ll start with the “hers” version. It features “Southern Belle” vanity plates and was delivered to Georgia in August of 1965. It features a straight-six engine with 3-on-the-tree manual transmission. It also features the original Ford hubcaps.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1966-Broncos-3-e1567093891444-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

“His” version also features a straight-six with 3-on-the-tree manual transmission. It was delivered to California in 1965 and features “Surfer Dude” vanity plates. I like the original steel-wheel look. This is what I think of when I think of these early Broncos.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1966-Broncos-4-e1567093744404-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Overall, this is a striking pair. The first generation Broncos have really taken off in the past years. Original un-cut versions are even rarer. Add the half-cab option, you have a very desirable ride. What do you think of this pair? Do you prefer the look of “his” or “hers?”

This 1968 Mustang GT Fastback ticks a lot of the right boxes for the person on the hunt for a 1960s classic. It wears its original paint and interior, it has never had any rust issues, and it is a numbers-matching car. It has generated plenty of interest since it has been offered for sale because, at the time of writing, there are 196 people who are watching the listing. Barn Finder Patrick S spotted the Mustang for us, so thank you so much for that Patrick. It is located in Woodruff, South Carolina, and is listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has now reached $45,100, and with the reserve having been met, this is a car that is set to head off to a new home.

The Mustang is said to be wearing its original Sea Foam Green paint, and if this is true, then it has survived remarkably well. The owner says that not only is there no rust to be found anywhere in the vehicle, but it has also never had any rust at any point in the past. The wheels that are currently fitted to the car aren’t original, but they suit the car quite nicely. However, the original wheels, caps, and tires are included in the sale. The external trim and chrome appear to be in first-class condition, as does the original tinted glass. This really does look like an extraordinarily clean survivor.

Ford introduced the 230hp, 302ci J-Code engine into the Mustang range exclusively for the 1968 model year, and that’s precisely what you get in this car. It is numbers-matching, as is the 4-speed manual transmission. The owner states that the car runs and drives really well and that it comes with a very healthy collection of documentation. This includes the Warranty Card, Window Sticker, Ordering Documents, both Build Sheets, Owners Manual, both trim inspection tickets, electrical inspection ticket, and the original title issued to the car. An original and unmolested Mustang with such great documentation is just looking better by the minute.

The impressive presentation of the Mustang continues when we open the door and slide behind the wheel. The Deluxe Ivy Gold interior trim is said to all be original and is in really nice condition. There is some fading on the driver’s seat and a slight alignment issue on the console, but there really isn’t much else to be critical about with the trim. The Mustang features the Sport Deck rear seat, a console, AM radio, front headrests, and a tachometer and trip meter.

Finding an original and rust-free first-generation Mustang today is becoming more difficult, and this one looks like a real beauty. There is very little to be critical about with this car, and it is easy to see why it has attracted so much attention. Do we have any Barn Finders who are looking seriously at bidding on this beautiful classic?

[h=1]Entry Level Project: 1967 Ford Mustang[/h]

One of the characteristics that made the 1st generation Mustang such an overwhelming success was that people could jump aboard the Mustang lifestyle at an affordable price. For those people who really couldn’t justify the cost of a car with a V8 engine, they could easily secure the good looks without breaking the bank. Barn Finder Ikey H referred this Mustang that perfectly encapsulates that philosophy to us, so thank you so much for that Ikey. The Mustang is located in Fall River, Massachusetts, and is listed for sale here on Craigslist. The owner is asking a cool $2,600 for this entry-level special.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-Ford-Mustang-Hardtop-2-e1567142031272-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The Mustang currently wears what appears to be Vail Blue paint, but I don’t believe this is original. There is some evidence to suggest that it may have started life finished in Arcadian Blue, so the car has undergone a repaint at some point. The owner doesn’t make any mention of rust issues with the car, and the photos of the car’s exterior look quite promising. There is also a single shot of the trunk floor, and it also looks pretty good. There is surface corrosion present, but that really does appear to be about it. About the only thing that I find even mildly disconcerting at this point is the fact that the Mustang is wearing what looks like snow tires. This raises the question as to whether the car has been exposed to snow and salt at any point in its life.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-Ford-Mustang-Hardtop-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
When you look at the interior of the Mustang you can see evidence of overspray from the repaint present on the passenger side door trim. This suggests that the repaint was not performed with a lot of care, so has to make you wonder what lies beneath. There will be some restoration work required inside this old classic, but at least it does appear to be original and unmolested. The rear seat looks quite good, as does the dash pad and door trims (apart from the overspray). The dash itself will need some restoration work, while new carpet and covers for the front seats will all be required.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-Ford-Mustang-Hardtop-4-e1567142089154-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Being the entry-level version, what you get in the Mustang is a 200ci 6-cylinder engine, and 3-speed manual transmission. This is where the news does improve because the owner says that the car does run and drive. Stopping is a whole other story though because the brakes don’t currently work. The braking system on these Mustangs is pretty basic, so rectifying this issue shouldn’t take a lot of work. Of course, with this combination of engine and transmission, this Mustang is not going to set the world alight with its performance, but if there is one saving grace, it’s the fact that at least this isn’t the automatic version. That transmission really does hurt the car’s performance in 6-cylinder guise.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1967-Ford-Mustang-Hardtop-5-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
It doesn’t seem like it is that many years ago when many people would buy a Mustang equipped as this one is, and the first thing that they would do would be to shoehorn a bigger engine under the hood. That still happens today, but the 6-cylinder Mustangs have begun to come into their own, and have now become a reasonably popular restorer in their own right. This one will need restoration, but how much work will be required would only be revealed with a personal inspection. With the question marks that are hanging over the quality of the repaint, that’s an option that I would definitely be exercising.

[h=1]Mild Mods: 1993 Ford Mustang LX[/h]

Another clean notchback Mustang is available on eBay, this one described as also being a preserved example with a few more deviations from stock condition included. The Fox body coupe features sharp red paint with a gray cloth interior, and equipped with the preferred manual transmission. It is listed here on eBay with bids approaching $18K and the reserve unmet.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/mustang-red-rear-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The 1993 example has been lowered with H&R lowering springs over the larger Cobra wheels from the LX’s more powerful sibling. I personally love the look, but purists will likely take issue with the wheels. The stock rollers are included, and if it were me, I’d put those back on and keep the dropped suspension while selling the Cobra wheels for some fun money.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/mustang-red-engine-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Thankfully, the modifications don’t seem to extend to the engine bay where the original 5.0L V8 still resides. Mileage is indicated as being just under 60,000 miles with no obvious accident damage to report and all VIN stickers still in place. This Mustang comes with new tires and all of the removed stock parts that were set aside are included in the sale.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/mustang-red-interior-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The door storage pockets don’t appear to suffer from the typical Fox body sag, and up-close photos of the dash seem to indicate there are no cracks to be found. The Mustang is located in Indiana but appears far too clean to have ever seen any winter time use. The bids achieved here are a strong indicator that demand for clean, nearly stock Fox bodies is as high as ever.

[h=1]Perfect Restoration Project? 1968 Ford Bronco[/h]

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1968-Ford-Bronco-Project-1-e1567226417374-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

This 1968 Ford Bronco is going to need some TLC, but just might be the project you’ve been looking for. The seller describes it as the “perfect donor for a full restoration.” It can be found here on eBay with a current bid of $4,650. Located in Massillon, Ohio, the buy-it-now price is $9,500. Five-figures would have been a dream number for this Bronco a few years ago, but they continue to go up in price. Check out this classic and see if it may be right up your alley.

[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1968-Ford-Bronco-Project-2-e1567226460850-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The interior looks fairly rough, but not too far gone. This will be a big project for sure but isn’t beyond repair. The photos of the engine aren’t very clear, but the seller says it is a 289 cubic inch V8. It was last on the road in 1992, so hopefully, it won’t take a ton of work to get it running.
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/1968-Ford-Bronco-Project-3-e1567226493467-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]

Overall, the body and chassis don’t look too bad. Some of these older Broncos are rotted through and are virtually unusable. This one looks like a decent project. Unfortunately, the rear fenders have been trimmed to accommodate larger tires. This is a common modification done to these older Broncos. There are replacement factory-style quarter panels, but if the new owner chooses to keep the patina paint, it will be very difficult to match a new panel with the original ones.
