2016-17 NHL hockey season.

Habs played a solid defensive game. This is their new MO
Defensive style, take their chances when they come.
If Price can make the 3-4 big saves every game as he has been
then they will do well, not exciting, but effective.
Gallager got an ugly one, hopefully it gets him going.
Byron's speed got the winner, good game.

Great way to start March and in tight race another 2 points, much needed.
Rangers Sat. in NY, 5 games in 7 nights with 4 wins.

Why do I need to answer such a dumb question? LOL. It was Jeff O'Neil that started this and I won't watch him. I use TSN for highlights and that's it. Never go more than half way down the web site, never go more than 10 to 15 minutes into Sportscentre. Won't even watch Leafs Lunch. When you need ratings you come up with garbage stuff like this because people who laugh and think are they on crack are still talking about it. Mission accomplished for TSN ?

The dreaded west coast road trip. Doesn't help when you are tied with less than 2 minutes to go and lose 3-1. Then go into LA with a 2 goal lead in the third and lose that in a shootout. Tied for the last wildcard position with the Isles. Anaheim tonight while New York is in tough against Chicago.

Habs with another comeback in a low scoring game. Will watch the highlights here soon but looks like PK got some well deserved respect by the Hab fans

Interesting. Looking at the way the playoffs matches could go, almost better for the Atlantic teams to finish in second or third then first. Should be a much easier first round come playoffs. Finish first your almost guaranteed to get Rangers, Penguins or Blue Jackets....whoever falls to the first wildcard.

Not really an easier ride like it used to be when you finished first with the old format. Just shows how this new system sucks and needs to be changed.

I agree, I have never liked this format.
I can live with 1-8 in each conference
Teams with more points can be out of playoffs in current system.
But when playoffs start it should be 1 versus 16 etc.
You can never guarantee best on best with current format.
You also can never have a leaf - habs, Habs- bruins, Leafs - wings final.
Some of the classics in history can never even attempted to happen.
Most of all it makes it easier if lower seeded gets on even a bit of a run,
they could get to finals or win cup. Why often we some of the best series
in 1st or 2nd rounds.

Start of a 4 game road trip. The head to Vancouver for game Tuesday night.
Rangers and Habs would meet in playoffs if it started today.
All of the games this year have been 1 goal games.

Montreal had a strong game, with a 4-1 win over the Rangers.
Price is back to normal, which is huge and one by one players who haven't
scored in ages are getting goals. The big guys brought in are making a difference
Ott wins face offs, montreal at 68% in circle, they have not been over 50 all year.
Add this all up and you get a strong performance and on the road as well.
Far better coaching and you can see the difference.
Lets hope they can continue with the strong performances :)

So if things stay the same in the Standings, Habs meet the Rangers in round one.

In his last 12 games against the Rangers, Price has won 11 and had 5 Shut Outs. :FordSmile

Both Teams were Disciplined and Shaw got a nice wrap around goal. Weber, Lehkonen and Benn also got one.

5th Win in a row for Habs, and wasn't in OT and winning goal didn't come in last 8 seconds of Play.

Currently there is a group in the top tier. this would include,
Washington
Columbus
Pittsburg
Chicago
Minnesota
San Jose

The next tier includes
Montreal
Ottawa
NY Rangers
Edmonton

The last group include.
Boston
Toronto
Florida
NY Islanders
Philly
Nashville
Anaheim
Calgary
LA

Be Interesting to see if any, who moves up or down in the final
15 to 20 games. Also which teams are best suited for the playoffs.
With the race so tight, its like playoff hockey now for many teams.

Don't feel great about the Leafs and their playoff chances. Really I didn't expect them to even contend this year but the chance is available. Compact schedule coming up so gotta put on the big boy pants and get some points....5 games in 7 days to end it. Washington, Pittsburgh and Columbus are three of them ?

Maybe the Habs wanna play the Rangers. Certainly had their number this year.

Playoff hockey starts now lol.
