2007 Mustang GT/CS Vert

So Friday the following was installed:
- new plugs (the ones from Septembers were already fouled)
- New fuel pressure sensor (car shut down the old was reading 2.x V and the new one is reading +/- 3.5V so it's been changed. Without the new, it wouldn't hold idle anymore)
- New O2 sensors (2007, for some reason for was cheating and using 1 front O2 and 2 rears. I guess I have one spare new O2 :) )
- New BBK catted X Pipe

The new set of plugs probably is already close to be fouled OR have been very close to be foulem and is kind of cleaning up. The car still tolerate them. I've got a whole night of driving on Friday + 3hours roughly yesterday before trouble came back knocking at the door. Ran extremely rich again, was extremely hard to keep idle, but I was within 1km from home and made it. Floored it in the street leading to mine and it kind of flushed it and she gained back peak power/drivability just in time to reverse back in the yard.
This morning, armed with Jason's cable on my SCT X4, I've removed all the MIL codes from last night and starter her back up. Runs kind of like a champ, but still chuck out a few codes (below).

- P0192 - Fuel Rail pressure sensor circuit LOW (remember, this sensor is brand new now)
- P0452 - Evaporative emission system pressure sensor/switch low (still need to install the new sensor under the car between the exhausts)
- P0453 - Evaporative emission system pressure sensor/switch high
- P0642 - Sensor reference voltage ''A'' circuit low
- P1000 - OBD readiness test not complete

So on top of all of this, I cannot succeed to datalog the car in it's entirely using the computer in the car connected to the X4 method (the typical method). Here's a list of the sensors/items that the datalog cannot read/doesn't see any feedback from.
- Accel pedal position D
- Intake air temp
- Intake air temp2
- Knock sensor
- Lambse bank 1
- Lambse bank 2
- Long term fuel trim bank 1
- Long term fuel trim bank 2
- Short term fuel trim bank 1 percent correction
- Short term fuel trim bank 2 percent correction
- Spark advance

My local mechanic start to think, seeing all these sensors are (from what he thinks) all on the same wiring harness, that I may have a deeper problem now. I start to wonder if it's A)wiring harness problem or B)new (old) junkyard computer having problems as well. It almost makes sense, all these items not being able to be communicated through the datalog & seeing the code P1000/OBD readiness test not complete.

Although it did ran like a champ for a few hours Friday night with a trip around Memramcook & yesterday afternoon/night being able to take it on an excursion around Moncton, the way it failed me at 1km (thankfully) from home is still concerning.

I must admit I am at a loss of ''where do I look at'' next if the consensus is not the harness or the new(old) computer. It does run today (took a run around the bloc) and good at that, it still pulled the codes P0192, P0452, P0642 & P1000 this morning (deleted them all and they came back twice, just this morning).

In the meantime, enjoy these two pictures from yesterday and these two short Youtube clips :)

Yeah I am sure it sucks. Hopefully you get it figured it out. I know you checked all connections and stuff already. Do you still have your old ECU? If so after changing everything you have changed maybe this ECU is bad and nothing ever wrong with your old one. You threw a bunch of new stuff at it. I don’t know just spit balling.

One thing it sounds really good live with the new xpipe

That sucks Max.
No mechanic here either.

Only thing I know and said here before, is where the position of those computers is in these cars, right up front, they usually always get damaged in a collision.
I’m surprised you found a used one.
And at that, in what conditions was it stored before you bought it? No one knows.

Maybe it is off.
Do you still have your old one to try out?

Good luck.

The old one would be of no use for two reasons.
A) my keys are now married to the other (not a straight unplug, replug, reflash swap

and B) the old computer would not read the fuel pressure sensor.

Here, it is being read, but there still seems to be another problem on that 5v loop by the codes it spits. I wonder what other sensors are on the same loop … ?

Just a thought
Max looking at the combination of codes I’d try just unplugging the evap sensor - it will send a code but if it is shorting it can pull down the signal to the others as well .
car will put on a light but evap is more for emissions than actual running of the engine. I see the evap is sending two different codes- open and short , which may explain wh the car ran good for a bit - (when open circuit ) but when short happens it affects the others as well
just my 2cents

So, two weeks ago (same weekend as above post), I have also opened the cowl & replaced the cabin filter, which was in a more than due condition...
I've also proceeded with performing the test Gerry is referring to in the above post, but it didn't change how the car ran. I've, since being under the car to unplug, have replaced the evap solenoid that is with the charcoal canister at the back of the car as well.

What I haven't confessed yet here is that I also discovered the day of the X pipe install that I have the mysterious water leak in the passenger side floorboard that plague a lot of S197. The first thing I looked for was the two drains in the cowl. As you can see from the pictures following, mine was clean and clear (can see daylight through). Not so much as a twig in there! I instantaneously knew I had something else going on.
So I have a new TPS sensor coming in on July 13th, and that's going to be one of the last thing to be tried, but I fear the SJB (Smart Junction Box) in the passenger's footwell took a hit & is acting a fool.
A week or two after the nationals, it'll be trailered and up to Tracadie to get the TSB work performed & any damages incurred by the electrical system currently hurt fixed.

Who knows if I'll be able to get another convertible run before the end of October... time will tell :)

Man Max you have add some strange chasing issues. I hope you get it straightened out soon!

Hey Max,
Many years ago when I first got my car I had same water issue in passenger floor board. My drain was also clean as a whistle being car was only a few years old then. Ended up being a grommet in the fire wall that dried up and allowed water to seep in and of course it ends up right in that junction box you know.... lol
I removed the inner fender and sealed that grommet then took silicone and made an upside down V shape bead of silicone just above it so when water flows down it goes either side of that grommet, never had another issue since. Cheap easy fix, of course if this is same issue ??
Man I hope you can manage to resolve all them issues you are having.
These cars are so much fun but they are to say the least temperamental at times.

tempermental like a women, Likely why we name cars after girls lol.
Looks like it has you chasing every avenue and it seems
each avenue, you find an issue, I guess take the positive
when your done, alot of small things that can cause issues will have also been fixed.

Hoepfully you get to bottom sooner rather than later and get some smiling seat time.

What you describe is actually part of the TSB fix that I’ll have performed, along with the electrical hunt. Almost hoping now that the SJB is the culprit and a straight swap, but i learned not to be too optimistic ?

Right on that one. With all that’s done on it, almost like a new car! ?
