Thought of the day.

A quick thought.... do we want to encourage the use of landscape photos for the competitions, as they fit a lot better with the layout of the site, otherwise you end up with a lot of blank space at the top of the screen and have to scroll down lots to get to the content.... well you do on an iPad anyway. Just a thought, not a big deal really.

What do people think?

We have done a lot to make it work on computer/ tablet and smart phones.
Big corporations actually set up 3 different websites to make them ideal on
each device, which is expensive for us, but not for them.
Without us spending triple the money, there is no simple fix for everything.

As far as contest goes, it is very difficult to put parameters on what we allow people to submit.
we only get 7-12 photos in contest as it is. The best photo often is not the best one for the website.
I am not sure a fair way to change that. To me its double edge sword. the Best photo should win.
My car won last time, black cars often look very cool and take great photos, but don't always give you the best
coverage for main page. The question could be endless.

Fair enough, as I said it’s not a big deal. As you mentioned it’s difficult to get photos that work best for the site.

I wish we had unlimited funds, would make everything easier :)
That said, Mike and Phil have done a great job, making this look and
work the wait does, considering the high pay they both receive LOL.

I use my computer mostly here, I noticed a lot of scrolling when I use phone,
On Ipad I find I have to turn it sideways to get best results. So its not perfect for sure.

The roller coaster continues here in Halifax. Weather is up and done with crazy temp
swings. looks like another crap show tomorrow night.
I am making another road trip to Montreal soon, bought another piece of equipment,
I suspect this one will not be as easy.

Snow anyone??

So Trevor if that new piece of Equipment is for snow removal you can stop by on your way back home from Montréal and try it out !!

Wow Roger, what a difference from there to here.
I can see yellow grass here. Sorry just a dump truck,
you have machine I can haul it away :)

Ouch. You guys are getting slammed and it is staying on the ground. 15 to 25 tonight into tomorrow coming here. Temps have been up and down so it could go either way.

were getting snow, then freezing rain, but big rain to follow going
up to 7, and minus again by noon tomorrow. SO crap this evening, but most people
will wake up to wet. 4-7 hours of BS for me :)

Looks just like my neck of the woods.
I'm getting snow anxiety.
Tired of cleaning it every other day.
Even with equipment. Still have to do front of garage and shed doors by hand.
Side of house to entrance and front, under and around heat pumps by hand too.
Then sweep off the car and truck before moving them out of the way to use the equipment.
It's like a big rubix cube effect...

I'm not a tree hugger either.
I would describe myself as a compensator.
I shut off lights when not in use.
I try to be responsible with things like hot water.
I don't use remote car starters and don't leave cars idling for no reason.
I don't drive my truck hard.
I recycle bottles, paper/cardboard, plastics, electronics and some metals.
I figure by doing all that, I bank enough green points to drive my Mustang "Hard", guilt free.
I own a good chainsaw and don't mind using it one bit for any tree in the way or overgrowing.
