Thought of the day.

We got off easy in SE NB. Only 14 centimeters recorded in Moncton, and not much rain. We didn't lose Power, but others close by did. It reminded me to upgrade my Generator. My 8,000, steady, 10,000 peak Watts Briggs and Stratton Generator will be in next Tuesday. Got rid of the Made in China 5,500, 6.500 Watt, Champion, Piece of Crap that I got at Costco a few years ago.

I have 6250 Colemen, works ok, but thinking fo setting up system, that would run whole house.
Not sure what it would cost, but I already have the jumper panel installed.

We have a Sump Pump and a Water Pump. Each one draws 2,000 Watts at Start Up. We were at our limit With the 5500/6500 . With 8,000/10,000, we will be able to make a coffee without tripping the generator. breaker panel

Suppose Trevor now that you already have the transfer switch installed it is just a matter of deciding what you want for a generator and believe me there are all kind of options out there. Then you will need the extension that connects from the generator to the house and that's it. Now you could also go out and get an automatic setup that would start by itself as soon as power kicks off but more dollars of course. If you stay with a portable one there are pretty big ones on the market that would run your house but best to talk to an electrician to make sure your system can handle it. Just ordered a generator at end of December and had transfer switch installed in November so been through what you are thinking of now. One thing you could keep in mind too is that there are generators that are duel fuel on the market and this gives you the option of running on propane which is cleaner and will keep for years, gas will not....With the weather we have been getting lately I think setting yourself up is almost a necessity now and a great piece of mind thing !!

Decided to have burgers tonight despite the temperature :-)

Well Halifax, finally got snow, with 2 back to back storms.
I think I am getting to old to go 25 -30 hours without sleep :(

Yesterdays was funny, snow fall warning came after it was snowing for 4 hours.
1-3 cm turned in to 17, with 3 hours of freezing rain and morning we had
freezing fog, yes freezing fog. LOL
Next few days look good catch up on sleep :)
