I am having problems associating it with the Mustang name. Such an long history here in North America. However I have to wonder if they are not thinking it will get traction as Ford World Car as Mustangs have less history to go up against elsewhere?
 
Seeing this reveal live as well, i personnally think the ''SUV'' does have it's place in the market.
Pass over the fact that ''looks remembers mustang (not really)'', and it is a good looking SUV. BUT to my humble opinion, they shouldn't have used the name mustang. They obviously used it to make sure they will sell the thing, and believe me, it'll probably work. Use Mach E by itself sure, NOT Mustang.

Yes, i'll give it to them (the presenters, Martin's friend, etc), IF you get a GT of this SUV at a red light, I would really like to see if you'd stick a hood of your Mustang in front. Instant Torque right away, +/- 600 of it estimated in the GT trim?? BUT IT IS STILL A SUV, NOT a Mustang.
I mean, I've smoked a 3V as i own today (automatic, cams, headers + tune at that!!) with my old Focus ST, two streetlights in a row one night, that car still wasn't a Mustang :)

To each their own opinions, i know mine is unpopular and i do not want to change any opinion or start a car war :D ;)
 
Read an interesting comparison between the Mach e (won't front it by using "mustang" with the Tesla Model Y. Thinking if I were looking for an all electric SUV, I'd be leaning to the Tesla model, as a maker with a solid electric history, or an Audi, I I was tossing in some of the kid's inheritance into the purchase price! If you haven't figured it out, I have strong feelings about this.
When I was very young and knew nothing about cars,
I seen a Mustang, stuck with me. All the Muscle cars,
Challengers, chargers, Barracuda, Camaro, Cougar and the list goes on.
Back in the day, I liked them all and had several different versions.

But the Mustang always stuck with me, fell in love with GT-1 GTO racing
F-1 with cosworth, the early day Saleen brothers, I was learning and living Ford history.
Mustangs through the years were always part of my Life, My older brother having a few
including a really cool 66 vert.

So many cars and many years later I get to the point I can afford a toy.
Looked at many cars, I had a budget, but the history, the heritage and the cool factor
brought me back to Mustang. Here I am today enjoying the cars the history
and the relationships with many others who have similar but different stories.

Many of us are friends now, regardless of the cars, but it was the Mustang that brings
us together, what inspired this site. Ford IMO insults all of this by ignoring what the Mustang represents.
Yes we have a year or so to whine complain and to see what actually happens.
I have no idea what the ending of this storey will be, only time will tell.

I know EV cars are our future, I likely could have handled an EV Mustang,
but SUV, 4 door EV Mustang, never going to happen.
I am so pissed when I was at Ford this week getting service,
I was talking to sales manager and his assistant, I said and I quote.
" Not sure if I will even by an EV, not really me, but If I do, it will not be this
because of what Ford did, I would purposely buy a competitors car.
I am a big believer in standing by your convictions.
They might ruin Mustang legacy, but not with my help.
 
And I totally agree with you on that point. Although I haven't witnessed the early days of Mustang ( :rolleyes: :ROFLMAO:), I totally agree that the name SHOULDN'T be Mustang.
The car itself makes sens, but remove the damn mustang name and badging from it. Keep the Mach-E spelling if you wish, but leave Mustang to be Mustang. But the car itself does make sense. I personally am curious to see how Ford can do with it, as the Electric Vehicle world needs something better than Hyundai Kona Electric, that is still SUV/Truck and NOT as expensive to buy than Tesla, Jaguar & Audi that you have to sacrifice a child to get :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

We all know if this had actually been an electric mustang we would all be looking at it differently. And that is the route they should have gone. Instead they went this route and like Trevor said we have a year to see how it plays out. Lol

Calling this a Mustang is way worse than the Mustang II. And in the end looking back the Mustang II wasn't that bad considering that it has permitted uninterrupted Mustang Production since 1964.

Camaro was absent for 8 years and even the Corvette missed 1983. Last C3 was 82 and first C4 was 84.
