My 1972 F250 project

Not many miles on the truck this year - just 190 !
Filled with Premium, some stabilizer added- a short drive to mix it up and now parked for the winter.
A set of newer rims gone for sandblast and paint - and then a set of tires - a few tweaks and I’ll be ready for 2021 season.

Started to work on some projects - Dad had made some brackets for the front wheel mud flaps but 40 years of salt took their toll.

Started building replacement brackets - a bit of welding - a donated bed frame and some paint and the two brackets are done. I found some aluminum checker plate and made two guards - not sure yet if they will stay shiny or go dark - once paint is dry the final install pictures will post.

I picked up a set of rims early last spring to replace the 2 piece wheels that came on the truck in 72. The “new to me “ wheels finally went off for sand blast and primer, returned on Saturday. Now time for final paint on the rims and some new tires to hit the road 2021 and beyond.

Winter refit 2020-21 is in process for the truck. I removed the 49 year old rad and took it in for core replacement this week. I have a new water pump, rad and heater hoses on the way to complete the update to the cooling system for years to come. I’m debating a switch to electric fans - won’t be original, but will cut down noise. This might help on fuel but at 10-15 mpg I really don’t care! The fun factor - thumbs up you get on the road outweighs the fuel economy penalty. Tires are next on the order list, deciding on tread pattern.

Well I had a bit of coolant loss last year - better check that out

I see a leak at the header tank joint

And the bottom is not so pretty, so off the the recore shop it goes

Looks really nice now !
Since the rad was out - time for new heater and rad hoses - one of the hoses means the water pump has to come off -so -

And a new water pump - and clean the front of the engine

And change the heater valve ( on order )

And why not convert to a 2 speed electric fan ( on order @ Amazon with auto low speed - manual high speed controls)

Just for a little water leak !
