NHL 2021

Took the time to actually look elsewhere in the NHL this morning lol. With the Leafs being in the North all Canadian division I’ve been losing track of the US teams. Boston 9-1-2, Florida 8-1-2, Tampa (of course) 9-2-1, Philly 8-3-2 and Vegas 8-2-1.

On another note there have been quite a few games postponed due to Covid. At first I heard the NHL would delay the playoffs and try to get theses games played. As time goes by and more games get postponed that might not be possible. Heard that winning percentage could come into play instead of points. North division is the only one that hasn’t seen a postponed game yet. I guess Edmonton and Montreal were close last night but game went ahead.

YA its kinda screwed up/
would land if equal, Toronto should still be close to the top, I figure top 4
Montreal would take a big drop and if they don't get it together, could be in trouble
in a hurry, Even in the North, Edmonton and winnipeg will pass them shortly.

They have 10 days at end to make up some games, but how is it fair if some teams
play 56 and some 36, those with more games tired, more injuroes etc.
Going to get interesting for sure.

They are even talking about cancelling 2021 draft.

Do I detect trouble in Montreal?
Seems I read on here just days ago that they were first and almost assured to make playoffs and contend for cup...
Should be advantage because shorter season means Price plays fewer games and not as tired in playoffs...
Yada, Yada, Yada...

Interesting, Hmmm...
Just ruminating here... ?

Nah, no trouble in Hab town. There is a huge history of success to ruminate over for many decades to come. ?

???????????????????????? Montreal Canadiens
????????????? Toronto Maple Leafs
??????????? Detroit Red Wings
?????? Boston Bruins

I don't think they are in trouble, but with a season like this
any team could be, look what happens when you lose 3 of 4.
You can't have a abd stretch, or at least not a serious one.

Montreal started out and it didn't look good in first,
toronto pretty much dominated them through the first.
If not for price it might have been over after 20 minutes.

2nd, they played better and over 20 minutes were equal if not
slightly better, still 1-0 for TO.

The 3rd was a different story, maybe all of Montreal's hitting
was taking its toll, hits 46 to 17 by end of game.
It paid off and Montreal got a real nice goal and with 3 minutes
left Gally put it away for a very important win for Montreal.

With thier week off and losing 4 out of last 5
this was a big win and keeps them in touch with leaders.
They come back next Sat, to meet TO again .

Was a good game to watch when they are close like that. Could have went the other way easily. Leafs have good line combinations and feed each other well to setup shots. I agree Price was on for this one. A weeks rest could change quite a bit. They are going through a lot of crap with timelines, travel and covid to put on the show for us each night. Hard to fault any team for not being top dog. Even Ottawa with all the young members can pull out a win...or 3.

Yep not good at all. Amazes me how this team constantly forgets that NHL games have a third period. Don’t go out and get help on D. Use two Marlies to grab another forward. Just what we needed

It’s like an episode of Groundhog Day with the third period collapses. Waiting for Bill Murray to show up at some point lol48AAF011-5F17-4026-AA65-A17B41CD1413.jpeg

Another Leafs vs Habs Saturday night. Such a strange schedule. After tonight they don’t play again until April 12th.

After having a week off the Canadiens have a few games to make up. Slipped to 4th but one win of those games in hand and they are back up to second. Top 4 starting to take shape but the Flames are right there looking in. I guess the goal is just to get to top 4. Not like finishing at the top gets you anything extra. Home ice? With no fans it really doesn’t seem to matter. I guess you get last change and means you play in an arena with your logos everywhere

yup and I think the North division is not that tough, so maybe a little misleading.
I guess 4 teams will get to say they made playoffs,
two into 2nd round LOL.

Very wierd year and at first it was fun, so many Canadian match ups,
but starting to get old. More than normal year would be good
but this much, is too much.

My 2 cents
Montreal fired Julian and Muller as
Montreal went through a serious slide.
IMO Julian should have been gone two years ago,
He is a great coach for a veteran team, but with Montreal's
youth movement, which started a couple of years ago
you could see this coming.

He like veterans and when things went sideways he played them more
in key situations and results typically got worse. Same moves gave him the same results.
I beleive they fired Muller because they wanted to give descharm the job and if Muller
was there by rights he should have got a shot, being english speaking only, would have been
tough, but if anyone could have pulled off English speaking coach in Montreal he could have,
sad to see him go.

Descharme, Not sure but he is great with young players and now and in next few years
the youth movement will continue, I figure the job is his atleast till end of year, lets see
what he does with it, tough with so many games in a row and not much practice time,
but I expect we will see some changes.

I don't think Montreal is a Stanley cup team at this point, But I beleive
they are a playoff team, which they are on brink of not being.
If they get to playoffs and get out of north, ( tough to do)
That puts them in final 4, anything can happen.
