Thought of the day.

Perspective is a wonderful thing, read this quote and let it sink in.

For a small amount of perspective at this moment, imagine you were born in 1900. When you are 14, World War I starts, and ends on your 18th birthday with 22 million people killed. Later in the year, a Spanish Flu epidemic hits the planet and runs until you are 20. Fifty million people die from it in those two years. Yes, 50 million.

When you're 29, the Great Depression begins. Unemployment hits 25%, global GDP drops 27%. That runs until you are 33. The country nearly collapses along with the world economy. When you turn 39, World War II starts. You aren’t even over the hill yet.
When you're 41, the United States is fully pulled into WWII. Between your 39th and 45th birthday, 75 million people perish in the war and the Holocaust kills six million. At 52, the Korean War starts and five million perish.
At 64 the Vietnam War begins, and it doesn’t end for many years. Four million people die in that conflict. Approaching your 62nd birthday you have the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tipping point in the Cold War. Life on our planet, as we know it, could well have ended. Great leaders prevented that from happening.
As you turn 75, the Vietnam War finally ends. Think of everyone on the planet born in 1900. How do you survive all of that? A kid in 1985 didn’t think their 85 year old grandparent understood how hard school was. Yet those grandparents (and now great grandparents) survived through everything listed above.
Perspective is an amazing art. Let’s try and keep things in perspective. Let’s be smart, help each other out, and we will get through all of this. In the history of the world, there has never been a storm that lasted. This too, shall pass.

My father in-law died two years ago at 99. He was a vet and I can remember him chuckling when someone would lament about life being hard.
So when you read something like this it does put things into perspective and I would say that "Clemme" as we called him would have seen more in a day than what we will probably see in a life time ?? Good write up, makes you think !! Thanks for sharing there Trevor.

Very true and puts things into perspective just like you say .. ?

Watching NASCAR Race now, supposed to be “Stock Car” Racing. Ford Mustangs, Chevy Camaro's and Toyota Camrys. I know they are purpose built Race Cars, but if they are Racing with V8 engines, shouldn’t the Manufacturers Entry be based on a mass produced car that offers a V8 ? Mustang passes criteria, so does Camaro, but Highest amount of Cylinders available in a Toyota Camry is a 6 Cylinder, so their NASCAR Engine should have no more than 6 cylinders.

And I have never seen a 2 Door Camry sold to the Public? They had a 2 door version they sold years ago called the Solara ? Ford and Chevy should file a Protest ?

Wasn’t the Camry the only one made in the States a few years ago, I think one was made in Canada and another was built in Mexico. This would be before the Mustang and Camero were in

All of a sudden the $75 Canadian Tire charges for assembly doesn’t seem like a bad deal
I bought one year before last at Kent. The model I wanted was the display one...so already assembled. Said I wanted it, so they were going to charge me $50 for assembly. I told them I'd leave my number and they could call me back when it was apart & back in the box!

Had a neighbor years ago who got a new bbq....wouldnt pay the $$ to get it assembled. A bottle of rum later he was firing it up. Caught the side of the house on fire. The first firefighter off the truck was the clerk who sold him the bbq. Ended it with a smart remark, like the $50 for assembly seems like a pretty good deal now!
