Thought of the day.

Thanks for the info, I don't believe I'm at the new engine phase just yet, everything else is good to the best of my knowledge, with the exception of the oil consumption.

With the drips I'm getting on the driveway, I'm wondering if the oil filter has vibrated loose, which is another known issue if they're not torqued on to the spec listed right on the filter.

Funny to hear 30000km referred to as "high mileage", one thing about this car is I vowed to drive it, and enjoy it, and not have it sit in the garage.

Guess I'm achieving my goal. lol

You would still be under Warranty, and as the owner of an 18 year old BULLITT that has 134,000 miles or (214,000 Kilometers) on the Clock, I don't consider 30,000 kilometers as being High Mileage either. I consider 30,000 kilometers as being barely broken in.

These cars have a noted oil consumption, I have not had this issue, nor any of the normal issues.
Only issue I have had, was warranty recall on transmission line, mine never leaked, but had changed.
I have had the thermostat issue, changed once, likely going to do again. not major.
but have to have heat at 25 to get hot air, but doesn't seem to affect car or temps.

I have never had major oil consumption, at little but not much.
I have not had the sagging rear bumper that was quite common.
not sure if lucky or what.

I would go to dealer and get it all recorded in its history, let them check it out.
equally important if you have further issues. I think.

Thanks for the feedback guys, the car has always been rigorously maintained at the dealership, so its all documented.

Be interesting to see if Friday brings any insight.

Trevor, sounds like you've done well with the R if you don't have a lot of the usual known issues. Lucky !!

Ya I think so, I read everything you could find when the came out, some
real issues for some. I think I was lucky. I do have the dreaded paint.
But it seems to be the process ford and many companies use now.
Very soft, low front and sticky tires don't help.

I guess a $5000 wrap in Montreal don't seem so expensive now lol.
I will have to paint the car either this fall or next spring.
Question is what process do I use do slow this down.

So, possible good news is that the oil leak may have been a loose oil filter, another known problem with the GT350 is the oil filter backing off from vibration if its not torqued to the correct spec.

Bad news, but lucky to find it, the inner shoulder of the front tires were worn to the cords due to the camber setting.

I was lucky not to have a flat or a blow out, count my blessings on that one.

New front tires likely going to be $1400 for the pair, but hey, thats taxes and installation included.

As Homer Simpson once said....."Look sad and say D'oh." lol

The future possibility of this car remaining in my garage has gone down significantly.

Well it had to happen - had my first Mustang sighting last night in Kazan Russia! A V6 coupe maroon colour and yes modifications. I could only see it in the parking lot from the train bridge but side window covers were in place . Looked like pony package with the small front lights - guessing 08-09 based on what I can see of the wheels. Yes Pictures when I get decent internet

If your paying 1400 for those tires not a good deal, I would do some shopping.
Getting the caster / camber setting right for these cars is some work.
2 Sets of tires and 2.5 hours on alignment machine has far more even wear.
Problem with my tires is one season only regardless, they get to hard and
not much traction by late fall. So new set every year is normal.

Cool, funny you don't see many muscle cars in eastern Europe, but man those who have are super proud.
Should remind us how lucky we are to have the selection of many Mustangs, with endless mods :)

Sometimes you don't realize just how fortunate you are.
I come home tonight after 16 hour day, get truck ready for work trip to
Fredricton tomorrow. After done, I grab a cold beer and sit on the deck.

Aliona comes out, bit of small talk and I say happy anniversary.
She says, what anniversary LOL. 6 years of marriage.
Hard to get in trouble when she doesn't remember this stuff.
:rofl

Heading to Charlottetown tomorrow with a U-Haul trailer.
Moving my daughter back to school, again. Only one year left after this one. :)
And I think I don't have to move her out next spring as she will be studying all next summer for practicums.
Anyway, cheaper to rent the trailer for the weekend and bring it back than to leave it in Charlottetown.
Like three times more expensive if I leave it there.
That's enough to cover the extra gas to tow it and the bridge fee to get off the Island.
And some left for wobbly pops.

The GT350 is a "Big Boy" Toy, and ownership comes with the extra expenses involved in owning a "Super" Mustang.

Expensive to buy and expensive to own, I had no illusions about that, but its still sets you back a bit from what you normally expect.

Maybe going forward I won't bother bitching about it, thanks for the heads up.

OK, I'll bite......what would be a good deal and where should I be looking ?

Pricing them out I thought $650 to $700 installed , with taxes, per side was fairly typical, I didn't feel it was too out of line.

If you've sourced them at a better price, let me know, I'll likely be doing it again sometime !!!

Side note, there was another 350 in the same dealer and the guys were saying I did really well to get 22k out of the rears and 30k out of the fronts, this other guy was in for new tires at 12k. lol

No Don't stop sharing your ownership experience. It could come in handy for someone considering a 350. :FordSmile

photo3755.jpgphoto3756.jpgphoto3757.jpg Traveling through the 1,000 Islands region crossed over the bridge from Ontario to New York State and cam across a really nice sign and new Visitor Centre near Alexandria Bay. So after talking very very nicely to the manager, he let me drive across their patio to get some pictures.

I should confirm, You are running the super sports on yours?
I didn't know what the tire wear rate was on those.

I want you to post your experience, it is always helpful to others
to know what issues and solutions folks have with their cars.
