Thought of the day.

Rant Alert.
SO yesterday during last job.
One of the guys tore down internet, cable and phones lines out of house.
Hanging 4' off driveway. So I call bell, well guess what. They don't have emergency service
for such events. I searched and called several numbers. I got the philippines call centre 4 times.
Apparently their lines are not a concern to them, public safety is not a concern to Bell ALiant.
A massive company only worried about profits, does not care or worry about customers or the
general public. So I managed to get lines high enough and I hoped at the time secure enough
that it would not fall on people or cars in driveway or roadway.

They did give us a priority position and promised to be out inside of 30 hours LMFAO.
after 3 hours of trying to get it sorted out, We did ourselves. I got a call this morning saying,
that if we felt it was an emergency we were to call N.S. power to move lines LOL.
To be honest, I was shocked, I was not concerned about the bill, more the fact the lines were not safe.
Guess they do not care about public safety in any form.

That's crazy Trevor!!! It should not be that complicated.

Cleaned the car yesterday as it had been sitting for 2 weeks. Made a small run into town and back. Sky was getting black. Was planning on having a run today but mother nature decided it would not cooperate. Sun is out now. Maybe we will get out for a small cruise later....

Did the oil change on the mustang friday night and found i have part of the front of the engine wet with oil...great lol. I kind of wonder what it is but at the same time think it might be almost normal... kind of wanting to brinf it to taylor ford or another garage of sort to have all that checked, but i think it’s part of my timing cover.
Out of that, got visit from a friend from up home all day yesterday and got to relax today, which is always great! ?

Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks of vacation. Starting to feel more like pre-retirement training.... Put some seat time in over the past 2 weeks. Did the western loop and central loop last week then did a test drive of the fall run route Gerry and I have been discussing. Checked out the lunch stop and chatted with the owner, found a couple of restroom stops for the pm leg each 30 min from the last and made a stop at the afternoon coffee stop. Everybody sounded pretty happy to hear the crew was coming. A run to Hopwell Rocks and through Fundy, taking the ferry home was a great 2 days. Already clocked last year's total distance.

Scheduling the car for an oil change at the end of the week, hitting 30000km, and its been a joyful experience.

But......Minor rant about known issues with this car after three and a half some odd years....body panel fitment really is poor. Had the TSB on the rear bumper cover sag completed, but still, in almost 20 years, I've never had a Ford product with such poor panel alignment.

Second rant, the 5.2L sucks back oil like a pig, Ive topped up at least two to three litres in the last 7500 km, really have to stay on top of it, which any car guy does, but still. WTF.

Not enough to make me get rid of it........yet. lol

Another week of Vacation left for me, last of 3 in August. First time in 10 years I have taken more than 2 in a row. Add the week in July (Atlantic Nationals), I took, and Aaron, I can honestly say that I am enjoying my Pre-Retirement Training.

Max, the front of your engine should not be wet. It may not be major but it is not normal.
To save money, you should consider doing that fix at same time as that next mod you have planned.
The front cover, along with valve covers, have to come off for that so a good time to fix this issue.

In the States, where there are more GT350's on the road, this oil consumption issue is common knowledge among enthusiasts.
Usually higher mileage examples, like yours.
This is the first I've herd this side of the border.
I first herd of it a month ago from an American friend of mine from across.
A real Mustang and Shelby enthusiast.
He has owned several Shelby's already. The latest being a 2014.
He told me he is holding out for a 2020 GT500 because he did not want to chance the issues of the current GT350's oil consumption issue.
Silver lining may be, if memory serves me right, that some guys have gotten new engines out of it.
The issue should be reported to you dealer asap.
I think Ford will try one fix. Gaskets, diagnosis, compression test or what have you.
If they can't fix it in that attempt, they replace the engine.
I'm aware of that already happening in a few 5.0 cases. F-150's mind you, but same idea.
Good luck

Thanks for the info, I don't believe I'm at the new engine phase just yet, everything else is good to the best of my knowledge, with the exception of the oil consumption.

With the drips I'm getting on the driveway, I'm wondering if the oil filter has vibrated loose, which is another known issue if they're not torqued on to the spec listed right on the filter.

Funny to hear 30000km referred to as "high mileage", one thing about this car is I vowed to drive it, and enjoy it, and not have it sit in the garage.

Guess I'm achieving my goal. lol

The fact that you actually drive the car and not let it sit in the garage as a piece of art as too many people would do is awesome. I am the same, cannot stand to see my car still (ok, not a GT350 but ... ;))

But, i would be more concerned than you regarding the oil consumption (as if i take your above statement, 2.5-3qts between oil changes), it is quite substancial....
But what do i know? if Ford is anything like mazda was Circa 2011, it will be deemed ''normal oil consumption''. I have been denied on that warranty thing in the past, can you tell? and i was running 1qts burned from moncton to tracadie (230kms) one way, but nothing coming tracadie to moncton... weird damn motor... ANW! all to say that, it sounds like it is quite the amount, i would at least talk it with the dealership if you have a good relation with them, they'll tell you exactly if you should bother starting the warranty process or not.

But i gotta say, since that Mazda, i am extremely paranoiac with anything oil consumption/leaks, etc.... Thinking of my front cover being ''wet'' right now makes me cringe to the thoughts of the possible bills... oh well .... toys :)
