Thought of the day.

These Michelin's have worked fine for me, and Gerry swears by them too. If you're not doing track days with the car they are a good overall tire.
[h=1]PILOT SPORT 3[/h] Max Performance Summer

Mine are All Season, Tire rack is showing them as Summer.

They are Far Superior to the Goodyear Eagles I was running before.

I'm on my fourth summer and tires still have 6/32nds of Tread left.

I've got Bridgestone Potenza on mine. Nearly two years, 5 track sessions, several slaloms and they still have lots of tread depth. I should have bought something softer, they will be hard as hockey pucks from heat cycles and time long before the tread is gone. Most of us probably run tires longer than we should on our Mustangs for economic reasons. The tires have still have lots of tread, but the grip level can decline due to heat cycles and time to the point of being dangerous on cooler days, damp days with the power of today's cars.

The tire Fred is highlighting has a treadwear of 320.
There are so many Potenza models in the Bridgestone lineup, to do a real comparison one must consider those Potenzas with the same treadwear.
Otherwise it's not an accurate comparison.

The lower that number, the softer the rubber compound is.
Soft gives better summer traction but wears quicker.
Not good in cold because soft rubber gets hard in cold.

The higher that number means harder rubber compound and gives less traction but wears longer.
And less affected by large temperature variations.

Regardless, Potenza is a reputable tire for Bridgestone and should serve you well.

The stock tire size on your wheels I believe is 235/50/18.
Not withstanding the tire make you chose to go with, I would have suggested you consider doing a slightly wider tire for added mechanical grip and a more aggressive muscle car look.
I believe 255/45/18 size would have looked pretty good. Just slightly wider but same overall diameter to preserve you speedo readings and shift points for the auto tranny.

I did that conversion on my previous 2005 and it turned out quite nice.
I went from 235/55/17 to 255/50/17 on the stock 17 inch Bullitt wheels.
