Thought of the day.

My retired neighbor who lives 2 houses down does my 120 foot driveway with his $40,000 Coyote 4X4 Tractor, it has an Air Conditioned cab for when he is using the mower deck. He brings me an itemized bill in May and the worst Winter was just over $500.

For my 16X16 rear deck i have a 6 HP Honda Blower equipped with tracks, so I drive it right up the stairs it it Throws snow 40 feet.

I think I have most expensive set up lol.
Start with $60,000 truck, $$10,000 V-blade plow and
a $6000 western salter. Salt costs me 1/2 buying bulk
versus bag, but I have to get 33 ton at a time :)

Ariens used to be a commercial only company, they have in recent years
built a home line of equipment, So I suspect it should be half decent.
Roger talk to Phil he just bought a used machine with bucket and mower deck.
Not sure what he paid, I believe he bought used. Kiota makes a more affordable line
then Kubota. John deer also builds these units, crazy money, almost needs to be fun.

Last note, my last bicycle was when I was 15, I see no place on there for a motor, so have no interest
in these expensive things that make me sweat :) My next bike will be at least 1200 cc :)

pouhahaha point taken, point taken!! sure @ $2,200+HST my current one wasn't cheap and @ $4,299+HST that Rocky Mountain isn't either... but it's like cars, buy cheap, well, you get what you paid for ! :D
i used to race XC (Cross Country) in my young days (well, i mean, younger i guess? haha

Well it looks like tomorrow is going to be a mess for the Maritimes.
Central and Northern NB getting the most snow
We will likely get a lot of rain. But based on the warnings.
Stores and gas stations won't be fit to go to today lol.
Its important to buy enough food to last 6 months
so your covered if power is out for few days LOL.

Starting to kick up here in PEI. Generator tested and gassed up, pot of chili simmering and a few bottles of wine to keep my co-pilot settled. Looks like northern NB is going to have to shovel straight up to get cleared out. Sounds like almost too much snow for good sledding. Stay safe, everyone!

About 6 cm here before flipping to rain, ground was so cold everything became icy.
I salted everything at +6 now and still black ice. There will some accidents tonight,
seen 3 today, you can't figure stupid. Rain and warm all night, so good nights sleep I hope.
Flash freeze tomorrow so morning salt run after rush hour.

Dropped 7 degrees in an hour here this am. Winter storm was a dud. Good practice getting prepped for a traditional winter storm. Have we turned into weather wimps over the past 5 or so years? I remember as a kid that the tub was filled to be ready for a power outage at least every couple of weeks but it was just "winter" . Now media is naming winter storms. Seemed to start with White Juan in '04 and now sexyl names like snowmageddon and US media covering winter storms the same as hurricanes.

New weather words like polar vortex, ice accretion, weather bombs, and even flash freeze warning seems to find their way into way too many weather forecasts.

It dropped from plus 10 to 0 in about 5 hours but never got it near as bad here, so overall not bad.
Yes people are weather wimps, If it is not cleaned up 20 minutes after its over, the service is horrendous.
Everything now is a special weather statement, I suspect that is due to the amount of special people
in society in the 21st century ( Sorry did I say that out loud) Lots of new words.
it was rainy and windy here last night, special weather statement with warnings every where.
Trying to protect people from themselves mostly I think. Good luck with helping that level of stupid.

Some News outlets sensationalize any weather occurrence, these days.

Like pei guy say's, at one time, it was considered just winter.. You woke up in the morning, and there was snow on the ground, or it was freezing, or a windy day.. What you see is what you got.
Nowadays, News outlets talk about it for days beforehand. They have guest consultants, retired meteorologists, and others discussing what could happen, speculation on why it's happening, and what may happen in the long term future. Police chiefs, Mayor's, even Governors are interviewed about what emergency preparations they have planned. Hour after hour the warnings continue.
I remember a few years back, when the US CNN news channel was predicting a massive snow fall on the East coast of the US . Talk about dire warnings..it sounded like doomsday was coming. All day, prior to the expected snowstorm of the century, one after another of their so called "expurts" discussed the in's and out's of this huge event, that was about to take place. CNN's Mobile news teams were in place, in several areas along the coast, ready to keep everyone informed while the apocalypse took place.
Turned out to be not much more serious than a fart in a windstorm..Sure, some areas did get some snow, but no more than any other average winter day..

Been away a while. Nice to catch up.

I don't see a steering wheel on that fancy gamer station above. Aren't those a must for driving games?
Yah, bikes can be expensive, Been there and done that.
I'm into road cycling though. Former triathlete. Hung up the mountain bike 15 plus years ago.
Not one piece of carbon on my Mustang but my bike is 90 plus % of the stuff, including seat post and rails, wheels and pedals.
Light and stiff, good vibration absorption and fast.

Speaking of cold. Took this shot coming home from playing hockey Thursday night. Now that's cold. No wind chill required. -31c.

I would guess we got about 45 cm of snow up here in yesterday's storm. Evening news said 22 cm in Edmundston.
I'm in St-Leonard and we got closer to 45 cm. I think 22 is wrong for Edmundston. They had a disclaimer, saying the reading was from a volunteer.
There is no more Environment Canada station up here since they closed down the St-Leonard airport a couple years ago.
I have my big tractor to clear it but I first had to clean this door to get the thing out.
The price you pay to have a view in the summer is that you are exposed to the wind in winter.

Front of the house.
My wife was working Saturday and Sunday nights at the emergency dept. Grand Falls hospital, so she stayed at another nurse's place Sunday day in between shifts. Was not safe to be out driving in the whiteout conditions we had here. Wind northeast 30 gusting to 50-60km.

Though for folks in Saint John and Moncton. Caught the news at supper time, they got heavy rain and then flash freeze.
People breaking their car wheels free from the ice with axes and sledge hammers.
Saw a video of Amirault street flooded last night in Dieppe. Not good. Temps down to -14c tonight, only recovering to -8 tomorrow.

I lived in your neck of woods a few years Bill. Easy winters at sea level on southern coast of the Island and Lower Mainland.
Much easier than back east. If any snow, wait a day or two. Warmer temps and rain wash it away.
Best of both worlds. Hardly ever anything to shovel down low, but drive up mountains and winter wonderland to ski in.
I miss it actually. Somewhat jealous. Should have made plans to retire there.

We got our first Ranger this past Friday. A Lariat model. Pretty nice. Drives well. I went to gas it up.
As soon as it came in, the salesmen wanted it inside.

It's funny how we have to shovel to get our tractors and blowers out, I have to do the same, but its a quick job.

Talked to a guy yesterday, said he put his half ton in the garage Sunday night so it wouldn't be covered in ice yesterday morning, only problem though was that the garage door was frozen yesterday morning so he had a clear vehicle that he couldn't drive. garage isn't heated.

they have another weather statement LOL, this time for rain.
They didn't forecast the 4-5cm of snow this morning.
the guy doing the weather when it was snowing, didn't tell anyone on
the radio until people starting calling him to tell him what was going on.

Great job, should have been a weatherman only job you can be that wrong, that
often and not get fired LOL.
