As we know, some boys in blue are true car guys and it is entirely possible they pull us over with the best of intentions way beyond a ticket.
I remember about 14 years ago, prior to the four lane Trans Canada up here.
A new Corvette of the day from Ontario was speeding between Perth and Grand Falls.
A serious car. A Lingenfelter conversion.
When I came across him, all I could think was "I hope he stops"...
Because if he had wanted to get away, he could have before I got turned around.
To my slim surprise he slowed and pulled right over as soon as I turned the lights on.
One of the first things I did upon approaching him was to thank him for stopping.
I acknowledged his car and the fact that he probably could have gotten away if he had wanted to.
This approach surprised him but it broke the ice. Tension dissipated quickly.
We discussed, however, how this would have been reckless and dangerous for him with the presence of moose and deer at the time with no fencing like today.
I could tell the guy was a real car guy just enjoying the capability of his car. Sober, rested and alert. Seat belt on and obeying every other rule of the road.
In the end I let him drive away with a verbal warning and a caution regarding the NB wildlife.
Car guy to car guy.
