NHL 2022 / 2023 season

Mid Season review
Lets cover a few things first,
who honestly thought Boston would be this good ?
Carolina yes, new Jersey, really?

Vegas, seems to be good every year,
But Dallas at the top.
Same as LA, this good really, wow
Seattle??

Now west to East, Canada teams,
Vancover is a train wreck, that no one knows what to do with
Good players, but in the lower middle, blow it up or on the run retool

Edmonton, Outside of Playoff picture, we did not expect that after decent run in playoffs,
they need a D man, but likely more, sooner rather than later.

Calgary, lose a bunch, rebound with some good signings, future looked bright,
but not doing as well as folks thought, same boat as edmonton.

Winnipeg, To be honest after last year, thought they were on downword trend,
solid team, could make a serious run.

Ottawa, expected a step forward with young guys and veterans they signed,
but not happeneing as folks expected, few more tweaks and next year.

The big Smoke Toronto, Fans live and die with every game, they once again at the top
but as games go on, you see cracks in goal tending and that is not good come Playoffs.
For this team regualr season don't mean shit, if they don't get out of first round this year
( tough job in east) expect some serious changes.

My Beloved Habs, rebuilding, never have they done this, but was needed,
the Still have bad contracts from MB era that will take another year or two
to see go away, so expectations were very low this year.
For first 30 games, played much better than folks expected and were fun to watch.
Not going to be in playoffs but fought hard and entertain with young guys.

Well the wheels fell off the last 10-15 games and its ugly, I am ok with them losing, just not
the way they are losing. With Bedard out there, I say swing for best odds in lottery you can get too.
Lots of good young prospects and lots of draft pics, along wth some decent trade bate, should net them
better odds at draft lottery and more Prospects.

Now we will watch as teams decide to buy or sell and how they move around being capped out,
should be intersting 2nd half, with as always disappointed fans and very happy fans.

Enjoy :)

I am curious what people think of the Habs celebrating Subans career?
Yes he was dynamic personality and had a good skill set.
His off ice work in Montreal almost outweighs is on ice contributions.

But did he do enough in Montreal to warrent this?

The off-ice donation to the hospital alone is probably enough to warrant this.
And is likely main reason they did this.

Watching the game last night on Torontonet is always tough when leafs are playing,
You would think there was only one team on the ice.
BUT, Montreal in their rebuild with more time lost to injuries than anyone,
Comes up woith a win, SMall mid season Victory that shuts up Leaf fans
for a few days 😁

Habs have won both games they played against Leafs this Season 👍

They looked pretty good from the 2nd Period on.

Especially Considering half (10) of their Lineup are Injured.

Leafs made a big move, Jason should be happy,

Habs place another player on LTIR
Most man games lost of any tema in NHL
Hard enough, rebuilding, but playing with half your team doesnt help.

Plus is the young guys get a chance and they get to see what they got at this level.

So funny little Leafs story.
I listen to the Jeff Merick show on radio between 1-3 daily when I can catch bits if it.
actually he has pretty good show.

Today they had a guest on talking about leafs, I had to pull over laughing
They said if leafs lose in first round, fans would expect changes LMFAO.
Now this maybe true, but think about it.
What exactly are they going to do? fire Duffus? whats the new GM going to do,
they have no prospects, no draft pics for next 3-4 years so tell me exaclty what would they do?

Duffus has made like some of his better trades this year, went got a little playoff toughness,
finally realized his flower girls don't win shit in playoffs. SO he has as good a team as they can afford.
Likely try more yet, but goaltending could kill them average at best.

that said east is crazy strong, top 5-6 teams in east, no easy out for no one and no shame in losing to any of these teams
But if leafs lose, its like this, they will whine, cry ( nothing new) they will make some trade in summer and the parade planning
will start in mid August like it has since 1967 :ROFLMAO:

As a Habs fans, whats betting odds leafs and Bruins both lose in first round, now that would be impressive 😁

1-2 games left for most teams, couple still have playoff implications,
most is decide.

For me and other Habs fans, it was a rough year but we knew this was coming,
to make it worst, we had more lst man games than anyother team by 140 man games.
first time in 22 years a team play season with 52% rookie defence, next closest team this year
28%

On the positive, we got to see a lot of great young talent, many who will be around, some will not.
with alot of draft pic's in a really good draft year, amd some blue chip prosects coming, and nest of
about 15 million of bad cap money goes away, the future is Bright.

Hockey night in Canada was harder to watch than ever, Elliot friedman has become a bigger donkey (IMO)
if thats even possible, amazing how much stuff gets overlooked when talking about some teams :)

Next up is the payoff race, next post will give my 2 cents on that
remember you get what you pay for

If anyone knows who will win the holy grail place your picks. I usually suck but Carol Ann and I find it fun to see who picks better. I am usually Cup-2-Canada and she of course is MudderJuggs. Looks like the theme this year is if/when the Bruins will be eliminated. We know where the Leafs are going after round 1. (as I type this I think it may be the one time they prove me wrong in the past 10 years).

2 challenges should be online by the weekend but you can register your name early. Free and easy to play. Been 30 years since a Canadian team brought it home. Could this be the one?
