What did you do to your mustang today

Input is always welcomed, thanks Marc, solicited or not, its the lifeblood of a forum !!

I wish Ford Performance would just offer up the piece they have in place on the GT350R, but that is not an option.

MBRP has one for around $260, been considering it, but I'll likely see what my parts guy can source.

I wasn't really thinking horsepower gain or weight savings, to be honest, I thought it would sound even better. lol

I don't know about the Track Pack cars having the resonator delete, I thought it was only the R.

Well, it will sound better.
It will be less muffled.

A piece of stainless exhaust pipe does not need to be sourced from Ford.
Any quality pipe will do.
And like I said, you can chose H or X pipe.
If you want to stay true to the 350’s, they do come with an X pipe though

You’re in Ontario, it would be easy for you to give Dasilva’s a call and have them ship you a mid pipe.
You can take the opportunity to enquire as to why they favour one over an other.
They ship UPS in Canada for free mow.
They shipped to me in NB at no extra cost.
Once you source the mid pipe, the job is easy.
CJ Pony parts has plenty of videos.
Dealership or muffler shop should be no issue.

Ford Performance are big on X pipes.
The 350’s have them and their cat back systems also have X pipes.
But I prefer the deeper sound of an H pipe so that’s what I did on my 2015.
Love it.
And at risk of repeating myself, contrary to popular belief, X pipes don’t offer much or any advantage over H pipes.
Read several articles on that, namely by Scott Hoag, retired lead Ford engineer on the 2001 Bullitt and 03-04 Mach 1’s.
And founder and owner of MRT.

Whatever you decide, I’m sure you’ll like it.
Happy modding.

I am not sure about later models of 350
but early version, only R had the resonator delete.

I’m no expert on the 350’s but based on my observing 2 different 2017 350’s with an X pipe instead of resonator, I would guess the resinator delete was part of the 2017 re-packaging exercise.

It would be a darn coincidence if both had that as only mod.
Both were stock low mileage examples.
One had 7000 and other 6000 km.

I'm aware of Dasilva's shop in Pickering, never dealt with them, but the name certainly is spoken a lot among enthusiasts.....I've driven past the shop when I had no choice but to be in the city. lol

I understand when you say its a piece of pipe that doesn't need to be sourced from Ford, but its odd because Ford Performance has a resonator delete X pipe for the Mustang GT , but not the GT350. Difference being 2.75" vs 3.00" I suppose.

I'll stick true to the design for the GT350 though, the MBRP unit is an X pipe design as well.

Can’t go wrong with that.
X pipe is good.
I have an X pipe on my 06.
It’s part of the BBK long tube setup.
Once committed to the LT’s, I had to take the X pipe because that was the only option.
For the 2015, I had the choice so went a different route.

Honestly, if I had a Shelby and in your shoes, I‘d do the X pipe also.
It’s simply this Shelby generation’s DNA.

Ordered my resonator delete X pipe, $300, all in, to the door, MBRP 409 stainless, from a Canadian website.

Not sure what the shipping time is, once it arrives I'll schedule the service.

Probably get it installed just in time to park it. lol
Which site did you order from. Hate the exchange rate, I feel better when I can't see it.

Not trying to advertise for them, but as a Canadian buyer its nice that all prices are in Canadian funds, no brokerage fees, free shipping.

tdotperformance.ca, only dealt with them once before this and it went not too bad if I recall, they have a good variety of brands, even Ford Performance.

Well, thats disappointing.

Just got this email from tdotperformance :

Due to high demand, the following item(s) you ordered need to be fulfilled as special orders directly from the manufacturer and as a result, the shipping time has changed. Please review and confirm the updated shipping time below.

ITEM(S)
MBRP S7215409 - Installer Series 3" Stainless Resonator Delete X-Pipe

UPDATED SHIPPING TIME
35-40 Business Days

7 to 8 weeks huh?

The email needed confirmation on how I wanted to proceed, continue with the order or cancel, so I cancelled my order.

Screw it, I'll order it in six months, in the dead of winter when I have nothing but time to wait the two months for delivery.

Looks like an oil change and early storage is in the cards.

that sucks, maybe look at other options, but sad its taking that long to get.

There's two or three others I know of, Corsa, Shiftek and Lethal Performance right off the top.

I'm going to sit tight until my refund appears on my credit card and go from there.

I'm disappointed that there was no indication that it would take that long when the item was put in the cart, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

I don't think Tdot actually has a warehouse or physical stock, I think they just act as a broker for the orders.

Looks like you’re conducting a pole Dave,
I would vote yes to Magnaflow.
They make good exhaust systems.
That’s what I have on my 06.

You mention drone however.
The host of the video does not say they are drone free or minimal drone.
And you can’t tell from a video like this if they are good or bad for drone.
Drone is only herd inside the cabin of the car.
It is not so much a sound as a harmonic resonance.
When it is present, it irritates the hearing.
To the point of making the driving uncomfortable, not to say painful.
In these engines it occurs pretty much at 2000 rpm.
1900 and bellow is drone free and so is 2100 and up.

In the interest of full disclosure, my Magnaflow exhaust does produce some drone in my car.
But it is a wide open exhaust with practically no muffling.
On the other hand, the recent Ford Performance by Borla exhaust I put on my 15 makes no drone whatsoever.
It’s a real treat.

I would suggest you see if Bill at CJ Pony Parts has a video of the same exhaust you are looking at.
What I like about Bill’s videos is that he takes you along for a drive and he comments on his impressions of the drone from inside the car.
He calls it like he hears it.
If he says a system is zero or minimal drone, it will be.

I relied on his videos to chose the Borla exhaust for the 15 and he was right.
He said it was one of the best for no drone and he has proven to be right.
If his videos suggest another system to be better than the Magnafliw, I would trust Bill’s input.

The Magnaflow says minimal noise inside but maybe I will look a little more into Borla.A friend has Borla on his 2013 and really likes it.

Looks like Borla may be right for me.I don't want too loud with the convertible and supposedly Borla is drone free. Now do I want touring or stinger?

I know I ran the Magna flow exhaust in my vert for years like the one you shared earlier. Loved the sound and no complaints at all with the top up or down from both myself and the passenger. Win win if you ask me. I added a Mac pro chamber mid pipe so it is a bit louder but still ok for us.

I heard some of the borla can be loud on some of our verts with certain motors so be careful il if you haven't heard it yet on a similar car as yours.

I only heard Borla on a 2013 hardtop.Sounded nice but I realize we don't have as much insulation from noise. As Trevor said it's hard to tell the true sound over the internet.
