It was a great run to New Hampshire, and everyone we met along the way was super friendly. The past few years, our first stop after leaving the Irving gas station near Calais, has been the Dysart’s gas station in East Holden, just outside of Bangor, ME. One of our group really likes the sandwiches there.
While outside the gas station, enjoying a beverage and a break, we were approached by a big man wearing red shorts and a grey shirt who was admiring the Mustangs. He advised that his son was crazy about Mustangs, and he wished he was there to see the cars, but his son was in school. He joked that his nickname was “Tiny”, and he advised that he had a “motor sports” store about a mile or so down the road, opposite of the direction we were going, and asked if there was any chance we could drive down there and he could get a picture of the Mustangs in front of his business to show his son.
We all agreed to head down there, parked in front of his business and “posed” for a number of pictures while he and his friend expressed their gratitude for us taking the time from our travels to give him an opportunity to take some pictures to show his son.
I was honoured to be part of this, and glad we were able to do this and circumvent any US/Cdn issues and just hopefully bring some young guy and his father some joy.
Here are some pictures, Tiny is the guy in red shorts and grey shirt.
