2018 Ford Mustang Pro Stock

One thing I didn't say, when it went ot be set up I was surprised at a few things,
wieght, with sand bags in seat I was told same IQ as me  half tank of fuel, 2640lbs

this part was big surprises, balance way better than I expected for off set car.
left 51% right 49%
Front to back, rear 51% and front 49%
I did expect it to be this close,

video last page, new pics tomorrow,
Thursday off to track for Tech ad try and find a place to park
if that goes well testing Friday.

Finally picked up, loaded on trailer, next stop AMP
wrap and decals are about 80% done, painted rear and from bumper for now,
hood is new did not get wrapped, later when more time is had, will finish and maybe add few small tweaks.

That said it looks great, car has 20 minute shake down, been gone over 3 times, by 3 different people
finding stuff every time. But we are confident, its as ready as it can be, so 🤞

Wow, looks great and sounds great. I bet you'll be grinning ear to ear on the first lap

Wel first day was interesting, big reminder how much new was on this car, even with
3 people going over this car in last three weeks, was an interesting day.

First session, 4-5 laps, car was a real handful, hit brake go left, hit gas go right,
I was only at half throttle, thinking, shit this thing is hard to drive.
I get black flagged , which means come in they seen a problem.
Turns out Bill and Leigh see problem, asked them to black flag me.

Read end was moving around while I was driving  some may like 4 corner steering,
not so great in race car lol. so up in the air, leigh builds these things, so realign, left to right, frint to back
tighten and rear tighten everything. got this done in time for session 2.

Leigh takes car out as he has 2 race cars built the same as this, so his feed back will be great,
6-7 laps hes doing great, then he coasts into pits, he says something wrong with engine
after 10 minutes Bill found it, plug wire off  so put on start, ahh works good,
So take all off clean, re attach, ready for # 3

Me back at the wheel, its much better with only steering at the front, 10-11 laps still not going real fast,
but getting thier, this thing has a ton of power, easy to spin wheels, anyway doing well,
I come out of turn three and around I go, and backwards into the grass, Me thinking I gave it to much Gas.
SO restart, check gauges , eveyrhting looks good, get back on track, stay on edge, get to next turn,
Marshalls waving red flag, pointing hard get off track, so I do.

Appartently I am dropping fluid, so flat decked back to Pits , jack it up, blew a small oil line off
back of dry sump system. We go off to help clean up track, I am not the most popular guy now.
hour later thats done, other cars can back out.

Back to car, fix problem, not enough race oil with me, so have to pick up at shop later,
clean oil off car for an hour, bill finds, 5 loose bolts in tail shaft, trans mission,
then loose front ball joint, another tiny leak and we check about 40 other things,

SO sit donw for a bit, drink water, relax, watch some of the other race cars,
Go pick up oil, case of beer as peace offering for track workers lol
and ready to go at it again tomorrow morning,

Different tomorrow, qualifying and one hour race tomorrow,
My goal is to hopefully get through qauly and 20-30 minutes of race,
Hopefully less or no issues.

All that said, what a blast and I am still smiling 😁

Wow, building a car pretty much from scratch is a lot different from buying one off the lot. So many things that can go wrong and all have to work together. It will be a good feeling once you get the gremlins sorted and get it dialled in. Watched the video - looks and sounds great.

about me and car lol. few things to fix, and lots to check and adjust, but

this one the result of wanting to turn right and the car not wanting to turn right
I am pretty sure I wasn't going to fast, so not sure if me,car, tires, but this is result of going off track,
hitting a giant bag of plastic bottle, before wall :)

Damage is actually minor, this will likely pop out when we take rivets out, few braces
need fixing, otherwise small.
this actually could have been repaired and got back out.
I decided best to take back, fix this and go over compelete car again.
as everythime we checked something we would find loose this that or other.

Considers complete build, car need to go to track, be run, using brakes , tires
gas, suspension etc. that happened and I did well with passing a few, being passed by a few
and car got proper shake down. So Monday night, will go to Mikes to fix mionor BooBoo's
then Leighs, for road race set up, also to fix a few things, that are not quite right.

Huge Shout out to Bill and Leigh, especially Bill
HIs help and expertise were amazing and reason
we got as far as we did.

Maritimemustang.com member comes through again.

I am having a blast,
Some parts are a bit tougher,
But its a balst to drive,
lots to sort out.

My goal this year was to sort out car and improve
It is a short season as far as events go.
series has 4 weekends and 3 hour endurance
race on weekend 5, so only 2 left and unless I find another
driver, 3 hours is not happening.
