On Vancouver Island for some reason we only have Columbia blacktail deer. They are quite common, and at times areal nuisance to out garden and fruit trees.
BC's mainland has mule and white-tail species, but the southern coastal regions are mainly blacktail as well. Would those you've pictured be Mule deer?

These are whitetail deer pictured.
We don’t have Mule or blacktail on the east coast.

I have to share this, I have seen a lot of stuff and it takes a lot to surprize me.
