Thought of the day.

Interesting conversation today with the guy that bought my '06 S197 GT 'vert back in 2011.

The car had 25,000 km on it when I sold it in 2011, and 14 years later it only has 40,000 km on it, which I believe.

Car has always been inside a garage or in storage, still has the same BFG's I put on it before I sold it.

He said he took off the front splitter because it got cracked, easy enough to replace and probably cheaper than fixing it.

Other than that, it's pretty much the way I sold it to him.

Here's the random thought of the day......

If you had the opportunity to buy back one of your favourite cars 14 years later, with only 15,000 km mileage, from the second owner .....

Would you ????

Nothing definite, but he did mention he was debating on selling it, and I mentioned how much I miss that car.

If he does decide to sell, he said I can get first opportunity........ price will be a huge factor in whether or not I even consider it, but the thought is tempting if the opportunity comes up, considering how well it's been cared for, and I know for a fact how well it's been cared for.

I'm not even sure what '06 GT 'verts go for these days....especially with only 40.000 km.

I thought maybe this way I can keep up with Marc ??? lol

Thoughts ???

Beautiful car. I have had second thoughts about selling my 2003 Mustang GT vert last year, and if it ever went up for sale, I would be very interested. I sold it in a private sale to a very nice couple in NB.

I looked on both autotrader.ca and Kijiji Canada and could not find another 2006 Mustang GT vert with anywhere near that mileage. The closest two were the same year, trim, and convertibles - one had 94,000 kms and the asking price is $22,500, the other had 76,000 km, and the asking price is $23,999. These are just asking prices, they may sell for less, but may give you an idea of where to start if you are interested.

I think most of the depreciation is out of these cars and some of them are actually increasing in value. You may regret not going for it, and it is not a car that you would likely ever lose a lot of money on if you can get it for a reasonable price.

Good luck.

PS The car below on Kijiji looks a lot like the one you had.

Mike

The car itself is obviously in great shape, you know the history away from you,
so that is a none issues. It really comes down to couple fo things.

One, something does not afffect your money life ( financially)
How bad you want it lol.

You already know its night and day from GT350.
but IMO so what, each car has its own experince
and for those who have the ability to enjoy the differences,
its great.

At end of day how bad do you want it :D

P.S. Remember Marc has 3 so even after this you have more work to do:ROFLMAO:

True enough, thanks for the good advice, and really, I have nowhere to put it even if I could justify the cash.

I have to recall all the reasons I sold it in the first place, and yah, the GT350 has been a lot more satisfying.

I've owned the GT350 twice as long, so what does that tell you ??

Looking at used prices these days, it's a whole different market from 2011, thats for sure.

Even taking into consideration the condition of the 2006, I refuse to pay a price thats essentially the same as what I sold it for 14 years ago.

And you're right..... one Marc is enough.

Kidding Marc.
