local cruising places.

Wow @MC Stanger how the heck do I follow up after those notes.
I got out this morning for an early Tims run. Had the chance to snap a few pics.

1st pic on South Barnaby River Road off of Route 118 and 126 (aka shortcut to Moncton as some would know it.) It’s just a short drive through here, but a few twists and occasional wildlife.

Continuing out towards 126, a Train Bridge, local swimming hole that often floods every Spring. Both the North and South Barnaby Bridge roads are closed to trucks. POI, it was on this road that Allan Legere was apprehended in 1989

Onto Miramichi,
Stopped by the old Morrissy Bridge which was closed to traffic in 2008. Still used as a pedestrian crossing and a lot of “photographers” use it for photo shoots

Circle down by the Water (Ritchie Wharf). Every Thursday evening from 6 pm until dark, the Miramichi Motörhead’s and other car enthusiasts gather to show off their rides and chat (#socialdistance). From Miramichi, travel down the King George Highway from Newcastle to Douglastown. The river is now on your right and you’ll see Centennial Bridge off in the distance.

Cineplex Miramichi provide a good photo opp with the bridge in the background. Note: this picture is from a few weeks ago.

Cross the bridge and exit into Chatham, 12 Howard Street to check out Saint Michaels Basillica. Saint Michaels was dedicated in 1921 and is one (1) of the largest Church’s in Eastern New Brunswick.

Heading over to Skypark Miramichi, former CFB Chatham to view the CF-101 Voodoo on display. CFB Chatham provided support to the Voodoo Squadron from 1962 - 1984.

Leaving Skypark, follow Water Street up “the other side of the river”. It’s only a 40 minute or so run, but it keeps our beautiful, and often taken for granted Miramichi River in your sites!

Finally, arriving home just in time to clean the “other Ford” before the workweek starts!

Great post. Been through Lower Barnaby twice in the last 3 years with the Mustang. Last year on the way for Mustang parts in Western NB and in 2018 when going up to Eel Ground. Only been up to the Chatham base area in the late 80's twice and Campbellton once for an Army winter exercise. Looks like we mirror the staging spots a bit in churches, aviation, bridges and even when I am back home there is a 2013 F150 crew cab needing a clean up. Can't wait for the fall run if all goes well as I booked two weeks off so we can have a few extra days in NB. I have some new places noted now to visit. Thanks for the details.

I’m not a whiz with phone maps, so I need three screen shots to show the route I did today. The dark blue routes.
And sorry no pics from route today.
Strictly a driver’s drive.

Left St-Leonard and headed south on hwy 144 (old TCH) along St-John river through Grand Falls on route to Plaster Rock via hwy 108.

In Plaster Rock hung a right on hwy 109 and followed the Tobique river southwest to Petth-Andover, crossing over the river half way in Arthurette.
Nice winding and snaking along the river here.

From Perth-Andover hung another right after crossing bridge over St-John river back to west side and and headed north on hwy 130 to Grand Falls (old TCH), then back on 144 to St-Leonard.
This last 20 km stretch on 144 along St-John river is only section done in both directions.

Just under 2 hours of driving.

My cousin tagged along in his 65 fastback.

Same day we stopped near Queensland beach, a small beach on St
Margrets bay, very popular because of the nice sand :)
Caught one of our new ships doing trials, came in close, likely check on girls on the beach :)
Helicopter on the back was getting ready for take off by the sounds of it.

Nice to see some new pics. Left Digby today at 26 degrees and went to Liverpool. Stopped at Bangs Falls where it was 29. After Liverpool took the old Lighthouse route to Cresent Beach (next to Rissers) where it was a whopping 14 degrees but still nice. Up through Bridgewater and over to Middleton then home. Very refreshing.

Got a pic of Bangs Falls this time with some water in the river.

I remember Marc had a crystal ball. I borrowed one here and tried a shot. Needs some work but interesting.

Last shot was Crescent Beach.

Nice run today. Once again along the French Shore Western NS on the old roads. Digby to Yarmouth then down to East Pubnico. Couple of pics.

East Pubnico boat pic was at Dennis Point Wharf (without the fog for a change) at the destination. Link is street view. This pic only has about a quarter of the boats in it.

Half way down in Salmon River (just below Mavillette Beach) stopped by the shore for a stretch.

Bonus pic today. Things have changed a bit since 1928. This gem is for sale at a local garage in Weymouth. No not the Mustang
