2025 Motorsports Racing Season.

in other news Nascar are now in court over Anti trust case.
Could really shake up establishment depending on what happens.
Team 23xl and FRM leading the charge.

Also apparently viewership is way down this year, folks pissed about playoffs among other things.
Many think ole boys club refusing to change is hurting the sport.

This could change things alot depending on what happens.

Zilisch got robbed in the Xfinity series, dominant car all season with 10 or so wins, Love didn't deserve the title for finishing ahead of Zilisch in Phoenix.

Hamlin got robbed in the Cup Series, why he didn't take two tires with a handful of laps to go is beyond me.

Jeff Gordon got robbed back in 2003 I think it was, when the playoff format reset the years points and handed the championship to Kurt Busch.

( Yes, I'm still pissed off about that 20+ years later lol )

Hate to use the phrase " Back in the day", but back in the day, the dominant car for the season scored points for consistency.

Lead the most laps, win races, be consistent in your performance and you took home the trophy, not by the sanctioning body resetting the points gained over the year just to get TV ratings in a playoff segment.

I stopped watching every weekend around 2010 or so, and I'm satisfied to catch the youTube highlights these days.

I am not a fan either, playoffs for other ports make since,
but the way racing does it is insane.

Also I am not a fan for someone to race 500 laps
4 hours and some yahoo who is not fast enough to pass
hits him on purpose and wins,

Now I will admit I am not a fan of F1 and you get a pnealty because
you thought about hitting someone, but some of that is so bad,

We will see what happens, hopefully better.

F-1 ended as pretty much expected,
few things worht watching but another track
with little over taking.

Next year could be a shit show, but I am guessing
lots more to watch, puch to pass and learning how to conserve
and sue power ( pretty sure not going to like this part)
We should be hearing stuff mid January shorter winter
for f-1 than most.

Lando put in a lot of work over the years, so his championship was deserved. Tough one for Piastri, but his performance suffered since the summer break, maybe because he got a bit too confident for his own good. Age and experience may cure that for him. He certainly has the potential to become a champion. I could also easily picture Max winning another championship, as there can be no denying that when he has a car set up 100% to his liking, he's pretty well unbeatable.

I'm very interested in seeing how the 2026 F1 cars perform. I just hope the racing excitement is not lost, and may even prove to be better. Over the decades I have followed motorsport racing, I have seen some terribly disappointing changes made with cars, and the regulations. Some were so bad I completely gave up watching the series, sometimes for a couple of years. It was like the heart of the series was ripped out, to satisfy someone's crazy ideology regarding racing.
NASCAR was one example. They mucked around for several years, and changed the series so much it was hard to follow it any longer. Then NHRA's choice to change most NHRA championship races for premier Top Fuel and Funny Car classes, from 1/4 mile to 1000' was also disappointing. I get the driver safety aspect because of the increased speeds with the newer cars, but it was also done to save track owners big money, from having to lengthen the track's needed braking room. I feel that lot of race results would have been quite different if they had the additional 320' to run.

FIA Single Seater Technical Director Nikolas Tombazis said: “With this set of regulations the FIA has sought to develop a new generation of cars that are fully in touch with the DNA of Formula 1 – cars that are light, supremely fast and agile but which also remains at the cutting edge of technology, and to achieve this we worked towards what we called a ‘nimble car’ concept.
At the center of that vision is a redesigned power unit that features a more even split between the power derived from the internal combustion element and electrical power. On the chassis side we have managed to reduce the size and weight of the car by 30kg resulting in a much more dynamic car. In addition we are introducing two exciting new features to enhance racing – active aerodynamics to achieve very low drag on the straights and the Manual Override system that will provide drivers with an on-demand burst of battery power when close enough to the car ahead of them.
“Lighter, more powerful and more focused on driver skill, the 2026 FIA Formula One Technical Regulations have been designed to provide closer racing among drivers, increase the competition between teams and to improve the spectacle. In addition, we have opted for a higher electrical component of the power unit, a more efficient car overall, and fully sustainable fuels, as part of our drive towards a more sustainable future for our sport.”

I find the green, sustainable fuel, is more for the PC brownie points.

I agree on most of the above, Ironically they went electric to be sustainable
the new fuels make them sustainable now and dont really have to do the electric thing.
BUT yes and a big But, Audi is coming because of new regulations and Honda is staying because of them
So lets see how it goes, but lets be honest V-10 or V-8 would sound so much better.

With both components being changed in the same year, could be some big gaps again, they are saying
as much as 4 seconds a lap, also potentially having to let off on straights to harvest electrical power.
This could be very different racing, those who learn how to manage the electrical end, could have big advantage.

Also with Chassie changing, lighter, smaller should help with passing again and full active aero could be interesting,
as always those who figure out first are likley winning for a year or two, till others copy and paste.
Caddy coming adds another twist 22 cars on grid, I like it.

I followed F-1 hard core and went aways for years, because of the politics
I hope the greed of FOM does not take over, rich tracks stay for the sake of better race tracks
Money always wins, Seen it this year where the show is becoming more important than the
racing, I hope they find the balance.

Will be fun to watch the progress and we all hope at least a few teams are fighting at the front,
And the new aero and push to pass allows more passing.

So this video helps a bit on the explanation on new aero set up for the 2026 cars.
I'm not sure if the driver has 100% complete control of the minimum/maximum angle's, or if the limits are pre-set by the engineers, perhaps dependent on the particular track that the race is held. Maybe max/min angles allowed are predetermined by the FIA regs?

I'm always interested in seeing how aero developments play such a major role in car control, and speeds, but the new engine developments for the 2026 cars leaves me wanting.
I've watched formula E for the last two seasons, and although the racing itself can be quite exciting, it's all thanks to the drivers, not the cars. I am somewhat prejudice in my views on what a race car should be, and there are probably a new younger generation of racing fans, that think electric race cars are the coolest thing. I know I sure did, back when slot cars were first invented, and I got my first slot car set. (y)
Some insight on the new engine set up for the 2026 F1 cars..

Based on what I have read so far, I believe the drivers will have a good amount of control over aero.
I think the trick os going to be, who ever figures out the aero and more importantly,
who figures out how to harvest the most energy back into the electrical system, while racing.

The push to pass and 50% of your power comes from what you harvest,
so yes you can push the button and pass, then 3 turns later get passed back,
because you don't have enough power to doing anything about it.

Cars are slightly more Narrow 10cm and 30 KG's lighter and no ground affects
so wings will play a huge part, also teams are desiging new wheels to help cool and harvest energy.
I think these things are going to be very complicated and the driver will have to be
driving and managing is power.

FIrst test is private, you can bet lots will be leaked from that first of January
