Actually a fairly decent race, mind you a wet track would have made it a lot more interesting.

I loved to see Antonelli getting a well deserved podium finish. He started the race so far back in the grid (17th), getting a questionable 5 second penalty, and then incredibly having running so darn long on those hard tires. 48 laps in a 50 lap race..
It's absurd to think that the potential for an F1 driver championship may have been thrown out the window. This same infringement has previously happened with other teams, and they were penalized, so it wasn't like it was some brand new regulation the team wasn't aware of.
McLaren argued "mitigating circumstances existed in that there was additional and unexpected porpoising at this event, limited opportunity to test due to the weather on Day 1, and shortened practice sessions." It was reported that "the FIA noted that it strongly held the view that the breach was unintentional and that there was not a deliberate attempt to circumvent the regulations".
I suppose these factors could have prevented Mclaren seeing unusual board wear, and be a legitimate excuse, but other teams were subject to the same conditions and they weren't DQ'd. You have to wonder if it was legit, or was McLaren rolling the dice?
