Welcome to Maritime Mustang

I don’t think anyone on here has 0 mods to their car! It’s all part of the obsession, trying to find the right balance for you and your style. Some mods come when things are worn out (brakes and tires) some come to add performance ( gears, suspension, cold air kits, cams and tunes) and then some things are done just because you like the look/ sound. Enjoy the Mustang world - we sure do.
By the way - really like that colour!

The bighest and most important reason to hang on to it and know where it is at all times is that it holds your original factory tune.
The car’s computer now contains an aftermarket tune to make that cold air intake and throttle body work well without throwing check engine codes all the time.

It’s likely this will not happen because we are so many years on since your car was built, but if your dealer ever tells you they need to update your car’s computer for any reason, you need to put the factory tune back in the car before they do the update.
Then they do the update.
Then you download that aftermarket tune back into the car and all will be fine.

When an aftermarket tune gets dumped into the car, the factory tune gets stored in the tuner.
And vice versa.

If you leave the aftermarket tune in the car while the dealer updates the computer, this will corrupt the aftermarket tune.
The car will start throwing check engine codes and nothing will have been fixed or solved.
Because the factory tune was in the tuner the whole time and was never updated when they thought they were updating it.

So, I keep my tuner in the car at all times.
Important to communicate to service advisor that they are never to update car’s computer without telling you first.

As for operating the tuner itself, the techs at the dealership should be able to navigate through it.
It works similar to their diagnostics equipment.

Like Trevor says, professional tuners use the tuner in conjunction with their equipment to tune your car.
You can also get online support if you get further mods.
You’ll have to find a tuner that works with Diablosport though.
There are fewer of those than there are that work with SCT.

The tuner can also allow you to customize other parameters.
A couple of quick and popular examples are if you were to get different size wheels and/or tires that change your tire diameter from factory size, you can use the tuner to tell the car the new size so your speedometer remains accurate.
You would also do the same if you want to change your rear end gears in future.

If uou had an automatic, this would be very important for your transmission to work properly.

It can also read and erase trouble codes.
Then you can look them up online to see if they need some attention.
It cannot fix any of those codes though.
