Langley Speedway 1965-1984. Another historic BC track forced to close down. I enjoyed many an event there.
The 1/4 mile paved oval track was included as part of a larger parcel of rural land sold to the local regional government. The track was then leased for several years to the Lower Mainland Oval Racing Association. Much of the area around the track had been sold and now sported numerous rural property's, with luxurious country style homes. As is typical, the new residents complained of spectator traffic, (averaging 3-4 thousand or more people), and noise from the racing events on the summer weekends. After closing the track, the regional district included it in an area designated as a park land. After years of effort the Langley Speedway Historical Society managed to have the track listed as a heritage site. The grandstands are gone, as is the announcer's booth and concession buildings, but the walls and the track surface still exist, and a few times a years car shows are held at the rack.

A friend racing his GT350, living the dream. If you have 21 minutes, it's quite a run. Green flag starts around 4:30 minute mark.
