As some of you know when I used to live in the UK I was into marshalling at race circuits and crewed the quick response Rescue Unit at the famous Brands Hatch circuit for about 15 years.
This was a collage of photos from one guys pretty big accident which ended with him pancaked upside down in the gravel. Amazingly he only had a few bruises, even to that arm you can see flying out of the car. If you look carefully you can even see me in a couple of photos.

Yes they do work, In my time had to get fairly close to some pretty bad fires.
