His 26th Mustang is a Camaro - he writes that Mustangs only got better because Camaro’s were beating them -And goes on blah-blah . I guess he does not look at sales data much!

It happens way too much, unfortunately.. either way to tight or way too loose .. my daughter bought a car from a used car dealer that was just inspected the day she drove it home , about 14km, soon as she got it home i brought it in the garage to put on winter tires. Every lug was loose, some a few threads backed off, and one was cross threaded and stopped about halfway on..?
I called them right away, they just said, well you do have them re torqued you know !
Had service on my Mustang, oil filter needs to be torqued on this.
Mechanic started arguing saying no it doesn't, I said do it right or
let me know, I will find someone else, Service manager was standing beside me. lol.
Needless to say it got done. My oil filter needs to be torqued also.
SPecial tool for it, I have one with car has matching numbers to car
stamped on it.
Sad when you have to tell these folks how to do things.

I'm not sure all oil filters have a specific torque, normally I'd go with you and say hand tight.
I think its just the vibration of the 5.2 that justified the extra step of putting it right on the filter, these filters are fairly specific.
Good to hear the Honda dealer fixed you up...... I might have ordered two. lol

As we know the GT 350 and Gt350R actually spell out the specific torque on the filter
If the torque is not stated look on the filter or the box next.
here are a couple of examples - for those who can work from written instructions - and one for those who just like pictures!
clean base , make sure the old gasket is gone - oil the new gasket - tighten until the gasket hits the base - then tighten 3/4 of a turn. Some filters will ask for 1 turn . You might need more than hand force depending on your physical abilities - so next picture says don’t dent the filter canister if you use a tool to tighten - then dispose of the filter properly. Many filters can’t be prefilled simply due to mounting location - that’s a good thing ! If oil is being changed on a hot engine the engine already has oil on the crank and bearings - please don’t prefill the filter even if you can ! The Center hole of the filter is the Clean oil ! Fill the sump and crank the engine and let it idle - the filter will fill quickly and the oil gets filtered before it gets to the bearings and the crank.

I always give them approx.1/4 turn with the wrench after hand tight.With oil rubbed on the o-ring I have never had a problem getting them off.I remember my boss asking me to check his car because the oil light was on and he had the oil changed at a garage the day before.When I looked at it there was no oil filter on it and a trail of oil into the parking lot.Surprisingly the motor was not hurt new oil and filter and off she went.

My neighbour had and still has a 1969 Cadillac and I was fortunate enough to go for rides in it.It is still in decent shape but the motor seized from sitting.Always liked that car.
