Although Jaguar reserved 18 serial numbers for the E-Type Lightweights, only 12 were built. The story begins in February 1963, two years after the panty-dropping E-Type was presented to the world. Jaguar sent around an internal memo stating that it would build 18 "Special G.T. 'E' Type Cars." These would be lightweight models made strictly for racing against cars like the Ferrari GTO.
