Dark Horse

Our local Ford dealer has this 2024 Mustang advertised as having the Dark Horse package. Is this a dealer dress up, where they add a few accessories to make it stand out a bit more, and then give it a catchy name, so a buyer has something to brag about?.

I would see this happen at some of the dealer's I worked with over the years. Some would even have a nice little decal made up to make it look more official. At times they used a seasonal theme. Such as a winter theme, and equipped the vehicle with aggressive snow tires, maybe a block heater, with a ski/snowboard rack, a rubber cargo mat, and rubber floor mats. They'd stick a Whistler Edition decal on them for good measure. They would sometimes also dress up some slow sellers, by adding mag wheels and some performance tires, tinting the windows, maybe some sill stripe decals, sort of thing, and maybe a GT emblem, or decal.
Done up right. some of them did make for a nice package, and I could see a buyer be attracted to them. My problem was usually started when a few years down the road, when these dealer special editions were in an accident, or perhaps had a new owner who wanted to fix up his new car, and came looking for now obsolete replacement accessories, or decals, etc., that no longer existed.

Dark Horse is more than just dress-up, Ford opened the Tickle Trunk and made it a legit factory offering like the Bullitt or Mach 1.

I'm going to say it's more than just a dealer dress up package, so parts down the road shouldn't be an issue unless it's a limited run like the GT350 and previously mentioned models, and even then I question how difficult it is to get parts seeing as so many are re-used on other models.

Wait until Marc get's ahold of this and you can get specific details on the Dark Horse, I'm just the short answer guy. ;):ROFLMAO:

What Mike said.

It’s a new legit Ford factory special edition like the Mach 1, Boss and Bullitt.

It replaces the Mach 1, with slightly better brakes and the 4th gen Coyote.
If you scroll through the pictures of your link, you’ll see the dual intakes and throttle bodies of the gen 4.
Base power now comes in at 480 hp.
Option sport exhaust, the variable exhaust, power bump to 486 hp.
Dark Horse rated at 500 hp with slightly different tuning.
Everything else performance wise is on oar with Mach 1.

Big difference, like all 2024’s, is electronics ramped up to 10.
Instrument cluster is a screen now instead of gauges.
Everything in 2024’s is on a screen.

Parts should be available same as all 2024 parts.
