Cool mustangs

There was one of these on the block last fall when I was shopping the Shelby.
Same colour and also well cared for and low mileage.
I was tempted.

The deciding factor was that my green car is very close to one of these, so would have had similar cars.
And no flat plane crank! šŸ˜³

To this day a Boss 302 is one of the best buy and most impressive cars you can buy.
I know three guys who run at track, from stock to mild, to a bit wild.
they are fast right out of the box,
work incredible well. $$ prices going up now, but best bang for buck in car world IMO.

I totally agree.
So much that when they came out, I would have chosen one of these over a rear drive Shelby of the day, hands down.
Even the 13-14 Shelbys.

Iā€™ve always thought they were a great bang for the buck for total package.

Truth be told, it was my backup plan last fall.
If my minister of finance had given me too much of a hard time over cost of Shelby, the Boss was going to be the one, for less money.

Sounds like great back up plan to me :)

So went to Ford training for new models yesterday.
Was held at Crabbe Mountain ski hill north of Fredericton.

Ride and drive events of day were focused on new Ranger and Ranger Raptor, off road, as well as new Super Duty doing backing trailer exercises with trailers using pro backup trailer assist.

However, 2024 Mustang was also there.
Could not drive it in dirt parking lot but could start, sit in , open hood and take all kinds of pics.

Some highlights; 17 wheel choices for 5 packages.
Eco Base, Eco Premium, GT Base, GT Premium and just one package of Dark Horse, equivalent to Premium.
Dark Horse not available with cloth seats like Mach 1 was.
But leather seats in Dark Horse have suede inserts to keep occupants from sliding around.

I think there will be more opportunity to pick stand alone options now instead of having to get a package to get one item.
Example, the GT that was there had Brembo brake option but not a full Performance package.
Did not even have strut tower brace.
But these were ā€œNot for saleā€ units so things could still change by the time they hit dealerships.

Brake callipers (Brembo I think) can be ordered in three colours, black, red and grabber blue.

The expected hp numbers for the 5.0 are:
-480 hp and 418 tq 5.0 with base exhaust.
-486 hp and 418 tq 5.0 with performance exhaust, which I think is the active exhaust.
-500 hp and 428 tq 5.0 Dark Horse.

The twin throttle body setup is different to look at under the hood.
The engine cover has shrunk a bit and has a imitation carbon fibre finish.

There is a bronze package, which this car had, along with the former black package.

So what is your over all thoughts with fit, finish and functionality

Can't wrap my head around the screen, IE: movie theater look, yet I know tech folks will love it.
Most of all front has way to many camaro / dodge looks for me.

guess I will see if it grows on me, but I have a feeling I may never buy a new Mustang
with the direction they are heading, we will see :)

Outside fit and finish is great.
After all, they are calling this the 7th gen Mustang but itā€™s still really an evolution of gen 6 evolution.
So foundation of chassis is reliable and they been working with it since 2015.

To be honest, I didnā€™t sit in it to check interior closely.
Like others say above, the screens are not for ne.
I liken it to helicopter cockpit.
I donā€™t care for the tech.

But same as outside, itā€™s an evolution so foundation is there.

I did notice the console/tunnel between the two seats.
Itā€™s more cylindric all the way than before.
Not saying good or bad, just caught my attention

Actually, when you walk up to it, itā€™s undeniably Mustang.
The right lines are there all over the car.
I only noticed the headlights when i got into a staring contest with the thing.
I think we will get used to the outside and come to like it.
In person, I find itā€™s not s big departure from the current car.

I think the biggest point of contention for drivers our age will be the interior and the screens/tech.
