By Adam Clarke The seller has listed this 1966 Mustang for sale here on eBay. Located in Franklin, Georgia, it is offered with a clear title. The seller has listed a BIN of $7,900 but there is the option to make an offer.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/sprint-2-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/sprint-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The seller has listed this Mustang as a Sprint, but it appears to be missing some of the details that set it apart as such. I couldn’t see the side striping that was part of the package although it does have the quarter-trim delete, and the chrome air cleaner with the decals is also absent. The original drive-train is present and while the engine does turn freely, the seller has not tried to start it. However this may not be an issue.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/sprint-3-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/sprint-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The seller also supplies this engine and transmission combination as part of the sale. That’s a 5 liter engine and T5 transmission complete with a new clutch. He is also including a restored 9″rear end with 3.27 gears. Fitting these would certainly make for a nice modern upgrade, although Mustang purists may not agree with the idea.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/sprint-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/sprint-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The seller states that the car needs partial floor pans and there are some issues with the bottoms of the doors, but that the frame rails, rockers, etc. are solid and have no rust. Once again this would be a case of careful inspection to verify the structural integrity of the car.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/sprint-6-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/sprint-6-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] Another nice bonus that is included with this Mustang are the freshly reupholstered seats. The rest of the interior trim appears to be in quite good condition, although the armrests on the doors will need refurbishing. The dash looks to be complete and in good condition although the pad will definitely require replacement.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/sprint-7-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/sprint-7-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] Older Mustangs are continuing to emerge from hiding and also continue to attract healthy prices. This one offers several options with the inclusion of the original drive-train as well as a more modern alternative. Certainly the modern engine/transmission would have its attractions, and if this Mustang is structurally sound it would potentially produce a relaxing and enjoyable cruiser on a Summer’s day.

By Reader You don’t see Mercury Cougar convertibles all that often, but that’s probably due to the fact that they didn’t build many. This 1969 Cougar belongs to reader Roger F and is one of just 4k convertibles built that year. It doesn’t run, but the 351 turns over, so you might be able to get it running without too much work. And, it’s going to need a cosmetic restoration, but you might be able to get it going and enjoy what warm weather is left as is. You can contact Roger with any questions or to make an offer via the form below!
What Makes It Special? Only 4,000 Cougar Convertibles were built in 1969. This has the XR-7 interior. I have many extra parts and all the Ford repair manuals. I am 3rd owner and have a letter from the original owner.

Body Condition: Body is in good shape. It has some rust in the lower door panels and a poorly repaired dent in the right rear quarter panel. It has a cheap repaint job that needs to be replaced. The undercarriage is in good condition. The back seat is in good condition, driver seat has a rip. Has new Cougar carpet and Cougar floor mats. Tires are in good condition with Cougar hubcaps. Have extra hood, fender and door panels.
Mechanical Condition: It has original drivetrain – 351 Windsor 4 barrel and an automatic. It’s currently not running but turns over. The top has been replaced and works. It’s received a complete front end rebuild with polyurethane bushings. It has disc brakes on front and drum on rear, all have been repaired. New shocks installed. I have air conditioning compressor plus Freon to add. Also, have an XR-7 dash ready to be installed.

Sure, it’s going to need work, but it’s a bright red convertible and the price seems reasonable! If this seems like a project you’d like to take on, make sure to get in touch with Roger.
Do you have a rare classic sitting in your barn, garage or shed that needs to go? If so, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds!

By Adam Clarke This 1972 Ford Mustang Grande may not be to everyone’s taste, but it is a testament to a father’s devotion to his daughter. You will find it listed for sale here on Craigslist. Located in Valparaiso, Indiana, it is offered for sale with a clean title. The seller has priced this Mustang at $13,000 OBO.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/mustang-2-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/mustang-2-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The original owner of this Mustang drove it for ten years and in 1983 he had it repainted in Bright Lime with what is referred to as “Roller Skate Stripe” for his 16-year-old daughter. She then drove it for two years before it went into storage for the next 28 years until the current owner bought and revived it. The seller states that the car is solid and clean underneath, and that the only rust is the spot that can be seen in this shot at the back of the rear wheel arch.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/mustang-3-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/mustang-3-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The interior is quite clean, and the only real issue of note is what appears to be seam separation on the driver’s seat. The carpet is also a bit faded, but it may respond well to some dye. The car has been fitted with a RetroSound aftermarket stereo, and the speakers can be seen in the front foot-wells. There are other speakers fitted within the interior of the car plus two amplifiers in the boot. However, if the new owner wanted to preserve the originality of the interior, these could be removed.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/mustang-4-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/mustang-4-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] Under the hood is another interesting story. This car was originally fitted with a 302ci V8. After driving the car for a few months the original owner regretted this decision so returned the car to the dealership to have them install a Boss 351ci engine. The seller has gone through the car mechanically to ensure that it is solid and reliable. He has kept it stock for ease of maintenance, but amongst the work completed he has replaced the brakes, shocks, fuel tank and lines, battery and sundry other items. The car now also sits on American Racing Special Edition wheels and Cooper tires.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/mustang-5-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/mustang-5-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] As I said at the start, this Mustang isn’t going to appeal to everyone. The sticking point for most people is going to be those stripes. They appear to be adhesive vinyl, but I think that removing them will pose some problems because I would expect that the paint under them will be a different shade than the rest of the car. So I guess that it comes down to a choice: Either remove the stripes and foot the bill for a repaint, or leave the stripes and attract plenty of attention wherever you go.

Bill-Owens_avatar_1535405416-24x24.jpg
By Bill Owens As the Mustang aged, competitors circled and entered the corral. So to be a little more creative and go after some lost sales, the Mustang expanded with performance and luxury models. Here is a 1972 Ford Mustang 2-door hardtop for sale here on eBay in Hammond, Louisiana. But is it the luxury model?

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/1972_ford_mustang_e-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1972_ford_mustang_e-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The seller has two references in the ad that it is a Grandé which was introduced in 1969 as the luxury Mustang. Here are some of the reasons I have my doubts. The letter above from Ford Motor Company only describes it as a 2-door hardtop and the Grandé was a separate model, not an option. Another reason is the seller shows the original wheel covers that came with the car. They are correct for the 2-door hardtop but not the Grandé.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/1972_ford_mustang_c-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1972_ford_mustang_c-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Even though this is a nice flawless original interior in the ginger color, it is not the correct interior for the Grandé either. The premium model’s interior was in a different pattern furnished with Lambeth cloth and would have a Grandé emblem above the radio. This car has a Mustang emblem above the radio.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/1972_ford_mustang_b-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1972_ford_mustang_b-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] Nonetheless, it is a well preserved original 1972 Mustang in its Bright Yellow Gold Metallic paint with a white vinyl top in what appears to be excellent condition. There seem to be no issues with the paint or any rust and all trim is there. This car has apparently been garaged most of its life. All original documentation is included as well.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/1972_ford_mustang_d-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1972_ford_mustang_d-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The 302 V-8 2 barrel engine has driven this car only 40,000 miles since 1972. The car has air conditioning but it is not working. This is really the only flaw the car seems to have. Even if this is not the premium Grandé model, it is in premium condition. It is offered at a Buy it Now price of $15,800. Any takers?

By Montana Danford This 1993 Ford Mustang has 871 original miles on the odometer and is basically a new car. Found here on eBay with a current bid near $50,000, the car is being sold from a private collection in China Grove, North Carolina. Said to have been stored in a climate controlled garage since new, this looks like one amazing survivor!

There is a ton of documentation with the car including a certificate from Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) documenting the authenticity of this Mustang.

The car still has the original window sticker. It shows a sticker price of $21,257 which is about $37,000 in 2018 dollars. Not a bad investment over the past 25 years. How many of you could resist driving this car more than 35 miles per year? I know I couldn’t!

By Reader Yes, you read that correctly! This 1987 Mustang 5.0 Convertible has only gone 820 miles since new. When the owner’s father bought it brand new in 1988, he decided that if he kept it for 20 years and only drove it once in a while, it would one day be worth twice what they paid for it. When he passed away, he left it to his daughter and she has continued to care for the car. Unfortunately, she’s going through some serious medical issues and needs to sell it. You can find it in Lubbock, Texas and you can have a closer look at Don’s ad via the link below!
What Makes It Special? Low mileage, adult owned survivor being sold to help pay for owner’s cancer treatments.

Body Condition: Perfect, unmolested original, flawless paint, interior. No rust West Texas car.
Mechanical Condition: Perfect, no issues. 5.0 GT

Seller’s Listing: Here on Hemmings
Fox body Mustang prices have been on the rise, but they still haven’t broken the $30k mark. Of course, there aren’t too many 5.0 GT Convertibles out there in this nice of condition and with such low mileage. We’ve seen less desirable super low mileage cars fetch serious premiums, so it could just be worth it, especially to someone that wants a perfect condition Mustang. And, who knows what it could be worth in another few years!
If you have an ultra low survivor that needs to go, please consider listing it here on Barn Finds!

Adam-Clarke_avatar_1531128110-24x24.jpg
By Adam Clarke Barn Finder Patrick S referred this little Mazda RX7 to us to consider. Since this model is my favourite RX7 I must thank him for that. You will find this Mazda listed for sale here on Craigslist. Located in St Petersburg, Florida, it is offered with a clean title. The seller has listed it with a price of $6,000.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/rx7-2-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/rx7-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The first thing that I would like to say (and our Barn Finds readers can correct me if I’m wrong) is that I believe that there is a mistake in the listing. I believe that this particular RX7 is a GSL. Regardless, it is in really nice condition. The seller is only this car’s second owner, and have owned it since 1999. They claim that the car has traveled a mere 35,000 miles. As usual I treat such claims fairly carefully, but the overall condition of this car indicates that this is possible. The body and paint look great. There are a few little chips and a slight dent in the side just behind the passenger side door, but otherwise it looks good. It appears that they’ve treated the tires with some of that spray-on tire shine and it has gotten onto the wheels, but they look to be in good condition. RX7s of this era with high mileage can tend to suffer from deterioration in the appearance of this type of wheel due to the impact of brake dust on them, but these look to be free of that problem.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/rx7-3-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/rx7-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] As previously stated, I do believe that this little Mazda is a GSL. It seems to feature all of the touches that indicate it. It looks to have the 4-wheel disc brakes as a starting point. When it comes to trim and features it does have a sunroof and electric windows which were all part of the package. What this car does feature above that package is the optional leather seats. This was a rare option box to be ticked, so it makes this RX7 that bit more desirable. The interior does look to be in great condition, and well above what we expect of cars of the 1980s. The trim and plastic all look to be in good condition, as does the dash.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/rx7-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/rx7-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] From this side we can get a further view of the interior and see that it is in good condition overall. One unfortunate thing to note is that even though the factory-fitted graphic equalizer is still in the dash, the factory radio/cassette has been replaced with an aftermarket CD player. The car is fitted with air conditioning, but this has never been operational as it leaks gas. I would probably want to fix that. Mechanically the car runs the 12A rotary engine backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. We get no indication of the condition of the drive-train, but if it has been maintained properly and treated with a little bit of respect it really should be okay.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/rx7-5-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/rx7-5-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] These are a great little car that handle well and can be made to really perform. In standard form they lose out to some of their rivals due to lack of engine torque, but they are a really pleasant car to drive. If they are properly maintained then they can be long-lived. If I am right and this is a GSL then they are currently selling for around the $9,000 mark. At $6,000 this could be a great buy.

By Jeff Lavery
This 1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 is one of the more desirable versions out there, as it’s a notchback-body coupe with extremely low mileage. With the hatchback far more frequently seen, the notches have always been rare, but especially as time wore on and most every Fox Body GT ended up trashed or highly modified. Limited supply and the desirable LX 5.0 trim make this one a sure bet for collectors. Find it here on eBay with bidding over $32K and the reserve unmet.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/mustang-side-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/mustang-side-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Personally, I love notchback coupes. The upright profile just strikes me as being all the business, and it doesn’t hurt that most police-spec editions were notchbacks. The “Dark Titanium” exterior is 100% original paint, and the seller claims it’s a rare paint code. Won’t argue there, as I can’t recall seeing too many in this shade. The polished wheels still shine nicely and the 5.0 badges and dual exhaust reveal this isn’t the secretary-special six-cylinder.

The interior is as mint as you’d expect, but it’s always so disappointing to me to see the boring, flat-bolstered gray mousefuzz bucket seats. A car like this deserved thickly-bolstered sport seats when new, but you just don’t see it unless a set of aftermarket Recaros have been swapped in (and since the police cars got those, I’d look for a set to swap in.) The bidding seems slightly nuts at the moment, but where else are you going to find a notchback LX with 6,800 original miles?

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/stang-motor-630x390.jpg

The engine looks mint, and the seller notes that dealer-installed options were minimal: a pop-up sunroof by ASC, rear defogger, and clearcoat paint were the only options. Though the tires, gas tanks, fuel pumps, and filter have all been replaced, this is otherwise a showroom-fresh Mustang LX 5.0 notchback – and for some of us, that’s as good as it gets for a Fox Body.

Chris-Clark_avatar_1533871027-24x24.jpg
By Chris Clark We’ve all heard of the Hertz’s Shelby Mustang Rent-A-Racers. Not all of us have heard of the cousin to those cars, the Mercury Cougar Rent-A-Racer. For those interested in the lesser-known version, this 1968 Mercury Cougar XR7-G found here on eBay, might be worth checking out.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/1968-Mercury-Cougar-XR7-G-Rust-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1968-Mercury-Cougar-XR7-G-Rust-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The seller states that this is one of the 188 Cougars produced for Hertz Rental Car in 1968. According to the listing, it is fairly complete but is missing some G specific items such as trim, horns, shifter and exhaust tips. Hopefully, these missing parts wouldn’t keep an interested buyer from restoring a neat piece of Mercury history.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/1968-Mercury-Cougar-XR7-G-Engine-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1968-Mercury-Cougar-XR7-G-Engine-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
The more concerning aspect of this project is not uncommon for a lot of projects: rust. Unfortunately, said rust isn’t just limited to the sheet metal. A combination of outside storage and part removal has created rust within vital engine components. It’s said that this Rent-A-Racer still maintains the original 390 4V GT engine between the fender wells. The big question becomes whether or not this engine could be saved. Another unfortunate problem with the 390 was a conflict between the valve and piston, which lead to a non-original head being swapped for the original.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/1968-Mercury-Cougar-XR7-G-Front-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/1968-Mercury-Cougar-XR7-G-Front-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The seller states that some of the sheet metal had already been replaced when the project came to a halt. The seller states that their reserve is “reasonable”, which is a very subjective term. What might this rare cat go for at auction’s end? And what kind of value might this car have if fully restored to its original Rent-A-Racer beginnings?

By Adam Clarke This 1969 Mercury Cougar XR 7 has been sitting for between 30 and 35 years. The seller has decided that it is time for it to move on, so has listed it for sale here on eBay. Located in Huntsville, Alabama, it has no title, but the seller will supply all of the appropriate paperwork for the new owner to obtain a title. The Cougar has been the subject of spirited bidding that has seen the price reach $7,600 at the time of writing.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/cougar-2-e1538151359953-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/cougar-2-e1538151359953-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] According to the seller the car is solid, with only some minor rust bubbles on the bottoms of the doors. From what can be seen from the supplied photos the car does appear to be solid, although the real proof would be to get a decent look at the underside of the car. The body appears straight, and while there are a few minor marks and dings on the paint, it would be very interesting to see how it responds to a decent attack of polish. It is an attractive looking car and if it is solid it may be possible to drive it as it stands and undertake any desired restoration work at your leisure.

The seats will need new covers and the arm-rests and handles on the door-trims will need refurbishing or replacement, but everything else looks to be in good order. The dash appears to be original and free of cracks, while the console and remaining interior plastic also look good. The car comes with power windows, a power top and tilt wheel. There is no word as to whether the power top operates or the condition of the top itself, so that is a cost that may need to be factored into the restoration.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/cougar-4-e1538151406716-630x390.jpg

The good news is that the engine runs well and that the car actually drives. It will need work on the brakes, but the seller states that the engine sounds solid with no sign of any exhaust leaks. The car is also fitted with power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. All of the A/C components are intact, but you can be pretty sure that this will require some work.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/cougar-5-e1538151422806-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/cougar-5-e1538151422806-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] As Summer draws to a close it is probably not the time to think about the joys of hitting the open road with the top down enjoying the sunshine, but it is the right time to think about a Winter project that can be enjoyed to the maximum next Summer. If this Cougar is as solid as it appears then it won’t require a huge amount of work to get it ready for the road. If it is merely a case of tidying the interior and giving it a thorough mechanical check then it could well be something to look forward to enjoying next Summer.

[h=1]Car + Spares Package: 1976 Ford Mustang Cobra II[/h]

Jeff-Lavery_avatar_1510763369-24x24.jpg
By Jeff Lavery This 1976 Ford Mustang Cobra II is claimed to be a survivor-grade example, but it does have some rust issues and a torn apart interior to address. The seller says it runs and drives, but they’ve only piloted it around their property. As a 302/automatic car, the Cobra II is a desirable specimen, but sometimes they become parts cars for pillaging the drivetrain if the body isn’t up to the task. Find the Cobra II here on eBay with a few bids over $1K and the reserve unmet.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/cobra-front-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/cobra-front-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] While I’ve always liked these cars, my taste for the Cobra II is very specific: it has to be black or red, with the emblems on the hood and the gold mesh wheels. This one doesn’t check any of those boxes, with aftermarket wheels and tired white paint with blue stripes. In some ways, this paint combo likely offends Cobra purists even more because of its similarity to the classic Cobra everyone loves and gets misty-eyed about when discussing the Cobra II.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/cobra-int-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/cobra-int-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] Now, the interior is not what I’d call survivor grade. Obviously, removing the carpets always looks bad, but why remove them? The glue residue is hardly an attractive look and the door panels are torn up, too. The seller, to their credit, is including a bunch of NOS and near-mint (apparently) parts that could help solve some of these issues, including uncut door panels, a crack-free dash, Cobra emblems, and a replacement back seat.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/cobra-motor-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/cobra-motor-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] Rust is described as being in the “typical” locations, and the lack of long-range driving doesn’t help assuage any concerns about mechanical health. While these are fairly bulletproof vehicles, they also come up for sale fairly regularly – so which one should you buy? The work that’s needed here is not overwhelming, and depending on where the reserve is set, could be a reasonable example to restore. Putting aside the hate for the Mustang II, is this a Cobra worth restoring?

Jeff-Lavery_avatar_1510763369-24x24.jpg
By Jeff Lavery The sentiment, “I know what I got” rings through loud and clear on this listing for a fairly beat DeTomaso Pantera. Coincidentally, we wrote it up way back in 2016, and apparently, the seller still hasn’t gotten a number he likes. For the sake of our new readers, we’ll revisit it, but I’d still love to hear opinions about whether he’s right to hold out for a number that to this point, only exists in his mind. Find it here on craigslist with no price listed and offers invited.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Damaged-Front-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Damaged-Front-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The fact that the photos haven’t even changed tells you a lot, both about the sorry state this Pantera is likely now in and the seller’s approach to encouraging serious buyers. Yes, I know, some of you will say I shouldn’t throw things in glass houses given the complaints about the photos of some of my recent Exclusives, but please – if I’m still sharing the same pictures two years from now, feel free to slay me then. This poor supercar deserves better, especially as an early production model with the aforementioned push-button doors.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/pantera-inter-e1538152289438-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pantera-inter-e1538152289438-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] And if the paint was already peeling this badly two years ago, what’s it look like now? The seller says in the ad, “I know what it is worth in this condition as I have already talked and had it checked with Pantera experts.” To me, those same Pantera experts – who are likely a passionate bunch – probably cringe at the fact that this car has been left to further deteriorate, and I’m guessing the number must be whacky enough that even a current Pantera owner can’t get the seller to let it go.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/pantera-roof-e1538152274296-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pantera-roof-e1538152274296-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] If the roof looks like this, what does the interior look like? How locked up is the motor? I can understand letting an average car with little to no collector value to go to waste. Simple cars, simple engines – no one’s going to break out in a sweat that an air-cooled Beetle is being left exposed to the elements. But a DeTomaso Pantera deserves better, and the seller could start by putting a hard number on the listing and letting negotiations start from there.

Scotty-Gilbertson_avatar_1510764136-24x24.jpg
By Scotty Gilbertson It’s still hard to believe that Mercury is gone. I mean the car company, not the planet. They weathered many storms, downturns, recessions, and depressions and they sure churned out some great cars, not the least of which would have been this first-year 1967 Mercury Cougar. This cool cat can be found here on Craigslist in Zanesville, Ohio with an asking price of $5,000. Let’s check it out.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/092818-1967-Mercury-Cougar-2-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/092818-1967-Mercury-Cougar-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] This is one of the great designs of all time, but that’s just my opinion. Sure, everyone instantly knows the Mustang but the Cougar was different. It was fancier, it was more of a button-down car, one that wasn’t typically owned by either street racers or secretaries. They were more for junior executives, but again, that’s just my opinion. It’s hard to argue with the design of the first-generation Cougar, though.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/092818-1967-Mercury-Cougar-3-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/092818-1967-Mercury-Cougar-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Believe it or not, the 1967 Mercury Cougar was Mercury’s most successful new car launch in its history with over 150,000 of them being built and sold in 1967. This particular car is in need of a lot of work as you can see. There appears to be rust and bodywork and dents and dings all over it, sort of like myself. The seller says that this “is a non running project that needs a lot of work.”

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/092818-1967-Mercury-Cougar-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/092818-1967-Mercury-Cougar-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The interior needs as much restoration as the body and mechanical bits do on this Merc. The back seat looks about as close to being perfect as can be which is surprising given the condition of the rest of the interior, other than the passenger seat. The Cougar was one of those Donny and Marie cars, as in being both a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll at the same time. It could be a muscle car or more of a luxury car, or both. The later generations of Cougar would include four-door sedans and even station wagons, unlike the Mustang which stayed pretty true to its original course.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/092818-1967-Mercury-Cougar-5-630x390.jpg

A 320-hp 390 V8 would have been available in the GT. This one “Ran when parked last year” so hopefully it can be up and running again in no time. Most Barn Finds readers cut their teeth on V8s from this era so I have no doubt that most of you could be driving this car after spending a short time under the hood. As a price comparison, Hagerty is at $9,100 for a #4 fair condition car and $18,200 for a #2 excellent condition car. Is this one worth bringing back to life? Dumb question, of course, it is.

By Adam Clarke This 1969 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman is a lot of car, and this particular example is one of 304 that were built. If you have ever fancied getting a start in the high-end limousine service, then this is the car for you. You will find it listed for sale here on eBay. It is located in Kingswood, South Australia, but the seller is able to arrange worldwide shipping. It comes with a clear title, and the opening bid has been set at $230,000.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/pullman-2-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pullman-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] There is no doubt that this is a striking looking car with a real presence about it. The car started life in Japan but has found its way to Australia. I would be very interested to know the back-story on its history because these were an expensive vehicle when new, so the original owner had to be a person of some considerable wealth and note. The car itself presents in the sort of state that you would expect an expensive and well cared for limousine should present. The paintwork exudes a wonderful shine, and all of the external trim and chrome appear to be close to perfect. The color may not be to everyone’s taste, but it is fitting for a car of this stature.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/pullman-3-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pullman-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The interior exudes an air of unbridles opulence. Everywhere that you look there is nothing but leather and walnut, and all of it looks to be in rather nice condition with just a few creases in the leather from the years of use. The car features such luxuries as a hydraulically-powered window separating the passenger compartment from the driver along with separate controls for the air conditioning in the rear of the car. Surprisingly, for all of its size and luxury, this particular Pullman does not represent the ultimate version of the car. In addition to this model, there was also a 6-door Pullman produced which featured a further two “jump seats”. There was also a partial convertible version, but only around 60 of these were produced.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/pullman-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pullman-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] With a car like this particular Mercedes, sheer performance was not a consideration. Needless to say, a car of this weight (around 5,800 lbs) definitely required a good engine to get it moving, and Mercedes certainly delivered on that front. The engine fitted was developed originally specifically for the 600-Series and has a capacity of 6.3 liters. Originally designed to produce around 300hp, a total of around 50hp was consumed to operate the car’s complex hydraulic systems. This hydraulic pressure operates the car’s windows, seat adjustments, automatic door and trunk closing systems as well as the complex and adjustable air suspension. The engine on this example looks clean and is backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission. The seller gives us no details about the operation of this particular car, but at the asking price, I would hope that everything was spot on. Parts and maintenance on these can prove to be prohibitively expensive, so that is certainly something to consider.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/pullman-5-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pullman-5-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] This Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman is not your average car, but it certainly bears looking at due to its sheer rarity. They don’t come onto the market terribly often, and as a result when they do they command high prices. This is the sort of car that someone would purchase for a luxury limousine service or as the shuttle vehicle for an exclusive hotel or resort. It’s a lot of money, but then it’s also a lot of car.

[h=1]40,500 Original Miles: 1972 Ford Mustang Grande[/h]

By Adam Clarke By 1972 the Mustang was barely recognizable from the car that took the automotive world by storm in 1964. Every dimension on the car had increased, including weight. By the time this 1972 Mustang rolled off the production line the car had become more of a luxury GT coupe, but the buying public was still willing to part with their cash to enjoy the Mustang experience. This particular Mustang is listed for sale here on eBay. It is located in Hammond, Louisiana, and is offered with a clear title. The seller has set a BIN price of $15,800 but with the option to make an offer.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/mustang-2-e1538462158486-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/mustang-2-e1538462158486-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The seller claims that our feature car has traveled a mere 40,500 miles. As with all of these claims, I would hope that they are able to furnish some form of documentary evidence to back this. Leaving aside this claim, looking at the car indicates that it does appear to be in quite good condition. The paint is said to be original, and there are a few marks and chips that can be seen. Baring in mind that this is a 46-year-old car then that’s to be expected. There are two minor dings in the driver’s side front fender, but neither of these are big enough to crack the paint finish. There are also no visible signs of rust or corrosion, and the vinyl top looks to be in good condition.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/mustang-3-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/mustang-3-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The interior of the car presents well, with few obvious issues. All of the original fittings appear to be in place, and that high-mileage “tell-tale” of wear on the wheel rim appears to be absent. There is some scratching of the plastic on the seat belt, but otherwise the interior seems like a pleasant place to pass some time on a lazy Sunday drive.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/mustang-4-e1538462184336-630x390.jpg

The car also comes with air conditioning, but we get no indication on whether this works or of the general condition of the car mechanically. The engine bay appears to have received a generous dose of detailing spray, but I did notice what looks like some form of corrosion in this photo just below the master cylinder, and even some on the passenger-side hood spring. Of course, it may also be nothing important.

If the low mileage can be verified then it may also represent quite a reasonable buy. It is never going to appeal to a muscle car aficionado, but for a person with a family who may be looking for a classic car, this may just be that car.

[h=1]Outdoor Muscle: 1969 Mustang Mach 1[/h]

By Brian Birkner Ever sit and wonder how some cars meet their fate? Well someone along the line parked what is a fairly complete 1969 Mach 1 outdoors, and even took the time to carefully remove the carb and tape the intake shut on the engine. Fast forward a few decades and you are left with this project grade car that still holds promise, but imagine if the owner had simply put it indoors. Never the less, this Mach still has potential and may very well have its original drive train still in place. With a few days remaining, this Mustang has crept up to $4,050. Check it out here on eBay out of Byron, Georgia.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/69-Ford-Mustang-Mach-2-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/69-Ford-Mustang-Mach-2-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] There is still a 351 V8 under the hood but there is no detail given on this engine. One would hope it to be the factory numbers matching drive train, but that information is not given. I would assume that since the seller went to the trouble to get a Marty report that he would have taken the time to “up value” the car by saying its numbers matching if this is was the original drive train. Although dirty and covered with what looks to be pine needles, the engine compartment isn’t nearly as rusty as I was expecting it to be. I don’t know that I hold any hope for the engine’s condition, but you never know. It may not be seized up.

Portions of the dash are missing, and the carpet is long gone. The back seat is still in place and has some friendly vegetation growing on it.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/69-Ford-Mustang-Mach-4-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/69-Ford-Mustang-Mach-4-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] Although this Ford has spent time outdoors, there are some highlights to this muscle machine. The seller has taken a few photos of the floors where little rust can be seen, granted the photos only show small portions of the under body. Most if not all of the exterior pieces and parts are in place, but with good comes bad as well. There is some rot on this Mach, and the worst of it appears to be around the windshield. Also the front edge of the hood and the passenger side rear wheel arch are a bit crispy. With the current bid price, this Mach seems like a deal, and could remain a reasonable one as the auction continues. What do you think this Mach will sell for?

[h=1]Mach 1 Package: 1977 Ford Mustang II[/h]

Jeff-Lavery_avatar_1510763369-24x24.jpg
By Jeff Lavery I came here to write about a Mustang II King Cobra, but that listing already vanished before having the chance to. Still, this listing on eBay for a survivor-grade 1977 Ford Mustang II with the Mach 1 package is a solid find, with low mileage and claimed original paint. There’s only 27,000 claimed original miles, and it’s a V8 car selling at no reserve. Find it here on eBay with bids over $6K at the moment.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/mustang-mach-1-side-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/mustang-mach-1-side-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] The paint looks fantastic, and the blue with white stripes is a familiar Mustang paint scheme. While it, of course, looks better on a genuine Shelby, this Mustang II could look quite attractive with a modest suspension drop and some larger period-correct wheels, such as the mesh design that came standard on the King Cobra. This example has a T-Top roof, which is a nice feature to have since you won’t be hustling this car around any corners.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/mustang-mach-1-motor-630x390.jpg
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","height":"390","width":"630","src":"https:\/\/barnfinds.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/mustang-mach-1-motor-630x390.jpg"}[/IMG2] What I mean to say is the loss in structural rigidity is really no big deal. The 302 V8 is the engine of choice in a Mustang II, so with the T-Tops removed above you, this will make a nice cruiser that probably won’t lose money given the low mileage. At the same time, it’s not valuable enough that you should feel bad putting a few thousand mils on it annually. Lots of maintenance has been thrown at it recently, and the seller claims it’s one of the few cars that actually looks better in person.

image: https://barnfinds.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/mustang-mach-1-interior-630x390.jpg
