After Market

You’re right, modifying these cars is large industry.
But not every owner is hung up on warranty issue.
If it breaks, they fix. Big boy pants.
You have to make peace with that if you modify heavily.

So tuner alone, not much of an issue for warranty.
And even if engine heavily modified, you can still get other stuff warrantied aside from engine.

Issues can and do arise for warranty when manufacturer, Ford in this case, asks dealer for pictures and a prior-approval is required before warranty work can proceed.

So you do a SC and your tune is lean and you detonate a couple cylinders under WOT.

You go to dealer for help.
If this is a case where Ford require prior approval process, which it likely will be, and pictures are required, Ford will see evidence of SC in the pics.
Probably refusal for warranty.
Big boy pants required.

But same car drops clutch or driveline issues.
Even if pictures supplied to Ford, evidence of SC won’t be seen.
Good chance you can get warranty work.
This is where dealer is important.

Lesson: if you get a tune, make sure you get good tune.
Do not cheap out on tune.
This will save you many many headaches.

$80,000.00 to $90,000.00 car, plus $20,000.00 or so in mods, but cheap tune!
Not good math and not right way to do things.

I tend to echo Marc on this topic.
I have heard a multitude of things about Raven,
personally I would never take my Mustang there.
I think he know shis stuff in some regards,
not sure about his dyno, heard good and bad about that
Not sure is experince with Mustangs, I know he knows 4 cyl. cars.

ALl that said I would use Desilva if closer with no Issues great rep,
hard core Mustang guys with tonns of knowledge.
Pete in New Hampsihire is my guy along with several others here.
We normally do a Spring dyno run yearly but covid has cancelled that.
I am hoping my build will be finished and borders are open so I can take
my lastest creation to Pete. He can be a bit difficult to reach at times,
but does incredible work, including sitting in my 08 and writing the tune
from scratch for that car, I was there 10 hours before it was right, hes a bit fussy.

As for Steeda ( Canada) it has no affilation with Steeda.com and The US company has actually tried
to sue to stop him, to best of my knowledge with no success, they did not own naming rights in Canada.
Hes at best a rip off artist. As for parts, American muscle, Late model restoration, maximu motorsports, Steeda.com
CJ Pony, leather performace, Mustang shop and a few more I have used with great success.
Find your best deal and shop accordingly :)
Hey guys if you go to Steeda.com US site and look up dealer location. It does list Steeda.ca as a supplier, just a heads up probably does not change any of the customer service issue I am reading about

Total agree I have never owned a Mustang, owned several Harleys and have done plenty of Mods to the bikes, I seem to always be doing the modifications to them as soon as I get them LOL. I appreciate all the advice and heads up. I have been watching lots of YouTube and it gets the blood pumping to make your ride a bit different from the rest, but when does it stop or does it. I know I never did with any of the bikes just seems you just keep adding the next new thing that is out on the market.

If you’re new to Mustangs, one more piece of advice on tunes.

Avoid chasing peak numbers simply for the sake of having numbers to brag about.
That’s easiest and fastest way to get into troubke.
And that’s a bit what I meant by cheaping out on a tune.

A good tune is not just about peak numbers.
A good tune is about all around performance.
Idle, drivability, throttle response, where on rpm range is power made, how long is the power (or torque) made, where does it start and where does it fall off?
Does it work well with your setup, or does it support your setup?

Tuners like Pete and Dasilva do this the right way and don’t chase peak numbers for the sake of peak numbers.

They may suggest a certain setup is good at X hp number but you may have seen or read online that so and so made Y hp number with same setup.

What that Y number doesn’t tell is the whole driveabiluty package and is it a safe tune or not.
Is the timing or air-fuel ratio safe?
It may have a higher peak number but a less efficient low end.

A lower peak hp tune with a better low end and safer parameters will be much safer and drive better.
And has a good chance of being faster then that peak number tune also.

You just don’t have that number to throw around at a cars and coffee, or a car show.

Cheers! ?

I just got off the phone with the Desilva team and you are correct in saying not to push the HP numbers to far, they Echoed your statement to the tee. With that said the other supplier I had talked to for parts and such, Desliva said I really don’t require them, he had ask what my intentions were and we went from there, and as for the other guy he had me make large HP numbers not really what I am after and I felt that it would be more harm than good, also about twice the cost for stuff not required LOL

Because of Covid I have not been to Pickering last two summers.
Prior to that went 12 years running with three different cars.

If you’re solo to visit them next year, and want shotgun rider, I would consider jumping in and make the intros at orher end.
Have come to know the gang there pretty well.
Spending a day at speed shop and watching cars on fyno is a good day for car guys.

Leave home stuff behind for a couple days.
Drive right by Mustang Direct on the way.
A good place for T-shirts, hats or incidentals like that.

Just putting that out there.

I’m probably going to make trip of my own next summer.
Need to trailer my 15 back to tune with my usual gas.
Drove there last time and caught bad gas on last tank before getting there.
This limited the outcome of the tune.
Been wanting to go back with trailer and better gas ever since.

Yup!
That’s the norm for the last 20 months.
Supply is low.
Even the big three have supply chain issues.

Don’t imagine you want to drive that beauty in winter, so your appointment will have to be in the spring.

it seems to be working out I had priced to have it shipped door to door over the winter which I felt it wasn’t a bad price, I went up there a few times with my diesel 3/4 and it is almost cheaper to ship? so it looks like spring it is

Just remember Mike, we love help spending folks money here :)
ALso lots of good advice and we love pics and mod updates.

Speaking of pictures.
And for Mike’s pleasure/benefit.

Here’s a few from my last visit with my 15 in 2019.

View of shop from overhead door where all cars come in.
That’s my car just to the right, foreground.

There is a separate and dedicated door for the dyno to the right of where first pic was shot from.
