2026 Motorsports Season

Kimi and Hamliton got penalties for yellow flags and
holding up Pistria respectively.

Hungaroring is known for track being exceptionally hot.
So strategy will matter alot in this race and those who can preserve tires.

I think its going to be great race to watch, I will have to do updates form track
We had a good practice, few little things all sorted out and ready to go,
Tires were getting fairly greasy so we mounted new stickers,

Hopefully be a good day.

Hulkenburg in top ten !! Is Audi finally showing signs of improvement, or just luck?
Track temps estimated to be 50 degrees tomorrow, so a driver's tire management and team strategy will be key for all teams. That could make for a very interesting race, as I'm not so sure if there will be a lot of exciting passing action on this track, like we have seen on other circuits..

Kind of surprised you can still run that style of exhaust. Seems that noise limit concerns have dashed that at quite a few tracks, (other than perhaps drag strips), in several areas nowadays..

The Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit is a year-round motorsport facility that is focused on driving, finesse, passion, skills and overall experience. As a courtesy to all guests, please note that we do not accept unruly behaviour, unnecessary noises or deliberate noise pollution.

Please kindly note that all vehicles with modified exhausts specifically for the purpose of deliberate and loud noises are not permitted at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Circuit. Our benchmark for noise is comparable to modern sports cars like the Porsche GT4 Clubsport, Porsche GT3 RS, AMG GT S, factory Ferraris, McLarens, Lamborghinis or Corvettes. These automobiles are specifically designed for those who seek excitement, passion, performance and driving exhilaration. The sound generated from these high-performance cars are also tuned by engineers for a fine balance of thrilling yet controlled sound.

We measure the sound on all cars on the circuit continually during regular hours of operations and have established a benchmark value based on the vehicles listed above. Our Class “A” sound monitoring system registers and records sound measurements daily during the period of time that the track is operational. This data is uploaded to our website weekly to ensure responsive and responsible business operations. Excitement is guaranteed; however, we want to respect all of our neighbors and those set values cannot be exceeded by any vehicle at the Circuit. Please make sure your vehicle is fully compliant to our safety and noise policies. We look forward hosting you for a day of excitement and fun.

Yes poor Russell, I imagine he was extremely frustrated. Sounds like a failure of the ca'sr set up.
He certainly ran well otherwise, managing to finish in 7th, from basically starting last on the grid, after the failure.

I wonder if this particular track just suited Norris's, (and Piastri's) driving style better? The battery recharging aspect not being the same concern as many other tracks where they didn't fare so well. Or, did Mclaren finally get the cars sorted out with the upgrades?
I could imagine that when a driver isn't having to constantly worry about the battery condition, as that was not a thing in the past for them, it may take time for them to get it sorted. Kimi and a few other younger drivers seemed to adapt quickly to the new cars. Youthful adaptability, or were their cars better sorted out from the start of the season? Ferrari may have also seen benefits from this track, although they have been steadily improving.
My wife watching part of the race with me, commented on how much Max was whining about his cars performance, yet he still ended up on the podium..lol I wonder if he's just setting up an exit strategy from Red Bull for 2027? He once stated, "I hate losing".

Current Contract Status and Clauses for Max
    • Performance Clause: It has become mathematically impossible for Verstappen to reach the top two in the drivers' standings before the summer break, officially activating a break clause that permits him to evaluate an exit for 2027.
    • Deadline Pressure: He has until later in the autumn to formally notify Red Bull Racing whether he intends to stay or trigger his departure.
 
Noise clauses are at lot of different tracks now
None at AMP 377 acre facility which is off the beaten path
few farms around and the cows don't seem to mind. :)

Mosport still ok as well,, often depends on where track is.

Max can walk, but will he and where would he go,
it is that time of the year Silly season.

Hamilton went this time 2 years ago, so anything can happen
regardless of what teams say to reporters,


Frank William one time, told reporters at 6 pm that he was keeping both drivers
including a private conversation with a driver.

Once they got the track sorted out, which ran into Friday's plans for practice, the inaugural Indy race at Markham was one of the more exciting ones I've seen this year. The last laps made for some amazing racing. Track wall issues in some corners created a few yellows, because of not having radius walls. Passing was tricky but at least possible, (unlike some street circuits), if a driver wanted to risk it.
Good size crowd, although I haven't seen the official numbers, one driver claimed 120,000 spectators. I wonder how that compares to Toronto's events?
