2026 Dark Horse

They’re calling it “Dark Horse SC”.
The 2026 Dark Horse will still exist as we know it.
This car is an evolution and basically a GT500 replacement, adopting a 5.2L V8 with a 7 speed dual clutch transmission.
So basically the GT500 powertrain.

It will be low production numbers and only sold at Specialty Vehicle Dealers.
The dealers we used to call SVT dealers.

I share here a screen shot from Ford’s memo to dealers from this morning with the details highlighted to the dealers.
If you zoom in you can read it.

Didn't Give HP numbers, I suspect the price will scare us
Spring 2026 order banks open.
Kevin if you want one let me know,
I might be able to help, but I would act now,
first year likely only see 1 or 2
depending on build numbers

When I see the pricing I will make a quick decision. We should have a poll to guess the starting price. I’m guessing about $150,000 CDN. I saw a stage 2 Whippled 2024 Dark Horse for sale in Ontario about 6 weeks ago. Standard, well optioned and Atlas Blue - $90,000. Clean Carfax and under 10,000 kms. I thought about it for a day and called the seller, it was sold.

A couple of thoughts after I posted yesterday.

- Makes sense they make this car and call it Dark Horse because Ford’s right to use the Shelby name expired at end of 2022 model year.
This car does fit well between regular DH and GTD but, without a new agreement in place, Ford can no longer call it a GT500.
Shelby American once again has that right exclusively.

- Ford is not being specific nor saying this about the new “steering rack” mentioned in information above but the 2020 to 2022 GT500 had a newly redesigned steering rack just for that car that reduced tram-lining and sharpened steering response.
It was R&D’ed or rather concept proven on the 2019 GT350 R’s to get it ready to put on the then new GT500.
The only former Mustangs to ever get that steering rack were the 2019-2020 GT350 R’s and the 2020-2022 GT500’s.
For sake of discussion, I suspect it’s that steering rack or a further massaged version of it being used in this application.

be interesting to see where that goes
I remember the last Deal was done with Carroll Shelby
Be interesting to see what happens.

they do belong together
history shown what happens when they were not
not good for anyone :)

Just happened to be on site sponsor MacPhee Ford's website , and noticed a posting that they have an allocation for ten 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC's.

Order banks open next week, I'm curious how long before those ten allocations are sucked up and marked up for profit, if they aren't already.

The chum is in the water, let the feeding frenzy begin.

No mention of MSRP or horsepower, delivery is supposed to be Summer of 2026.

Maybe Marc has some insight on those numbers ??

Let me be specific that this is for a 2026 Mustang Dark Horse SC and not a normal 2026 Mustang Dark Horse. ;)

I will be there next week, I will ask. I sispect they will have some version of the shelby engine, Based on 5.2 super charged
and by the read up, likely the same price points.

Personally not my thing, but likely going to be stupid fast.
and just as stupid expensive. Based on history, you will get MSRP
if your the right person, or how fast they get booked.
