2019 - 2020 NHL Season.

yes rivalries in Hockey as in cars are fun and take your mind off
of life and everyday events. In these times small distractions are a good thing.

Not letting daily events get to us and take these to far is also important.
Have a great day and keep your stick on the ice :)

Bring this thread back. Proposal that I believe passed is a 24 team playoff event. Even the Habs make the “playoffs”. Could be interesting if they get it off the group but I heard they might call it the Covid Cup

I can see it now, a well rested and Focused Carey Price will be a key player in eliminating the Penguins in Round 1. ?

And Jason, as a Habs Fan, I seem to remember that the last time the Leafs had a respectable run in the Playoffs was in a Lockdown year when the Regular Season was only 48 Games. ?

Haha. True. Funny I was thinking the same about Price. If this happens that seems to be the biggest fear....they call it the Carey Price factor. One player gets hot for a team that wasn’t really supposed to be in it and boom who knows. But them the breaks.

The 24 team format has been approved by players.
Now they have to decide on other things. Contracts have to agreed to be
extended past July 1. Deadline for many thing in NHL.
Also some players want to be paid, which normally doesn't happen in playoffs.

Also players are trying to negotiate there share of the deal won't raise due to falling revnues
next season, So even though plan is approved, if games car resume.
Lots has to be ironed out in order for it to happen.

Including Canada opening borders to Players. US did this yesterday.
DOesn't mean Canada will.

As for watching, I will watch, but not as much, our summers are short.
I am not spending it in front of TV.

I would be totally ok if the US took all the players and teams. We don’t need to have a “host” city here in Canada and if they were smart they wouldn’t. Why bother worrying about Canada if you know you can already get all the players into the US? I guess money for a host city might trump that thought process. For fans it will be tv only so who cares where they play the games.

I’m with you. Will be nice to watch some games on a rainy day/night but won’t give up the nice weather to watch a game.

I still think a playoff season is a stretch. How many international locations would these teams be bringing players from? What international flights would round them up? All charter flights? What about families and the necessary hanger ons? They coming or not? I see the final nitpicky details likely enough to sink any plan.

Nascar is doing it with drivers having to get to track without out
their personal handlers

As far as chartered flights, not that big of a deal for NHL as most
do it now. The money that is at stake, flagon several hundred people to
locations can be done without much worry.

I think final deal, for contracts, money and revenue sharing could be tricky.
Greed is a funny thing, almost like contract year. Guess we will see.
For them to pull this off, even for july, It would have to happen fast.

Fact teams and players agreed on format in less than a week, shocked me.
