Ford Performance Banner install

Well I give up.
I tried to install my banner this morning.
Even got my wife to help.
Showed her I needed it even on both sides.
It was perfect on my side so I assumed it was also on hers.
Did my center paper cut and got my side down perfectly.
Walked to her side and saw she was about an inch off and crooked.
Couldn’t stretch it to fix.
It looks like a child installed it.
This was my Second attempt too.
First one had a crease.
70 dollars just pissed away twice.
I’m 63 with leukemia so doing simple things now are usually impossible.
Go ahead and roast me for my mistakes.
I deserve it.
Anyone else screw up simple projects?

So are you talking about a banner that goes across the top of your windscreen? Aren't they made of PVC? I thought they could be peeled off and reset if the application was off. Do they stretch all out of shape or something?

This place has them in a variety of sizes, and might save you a few bucks if you have to buy a new one.

Sometimes less is better..
The decals that are known as static cling, shouldn't cause any damage if removed.
Several fellows i know use them on their Cobra's and other than the odd one that fell off, (likely because of poor installation), they don't have any issues with them causing permanent harm to the car.

you can remove with out any issues, if needed use a heat gun, then wash with windex
has alcohol in it, will clean up fine,

dry fit first, mark centres, can due with window chalk, wipes if when done
trick is spray window with mild mix, soap, highly diluted with water, or spray with glass cleaner, leave residue on while setting decal.
clean glass, spray with soappy water, it can moved around, once where you want it.
use
use 3m style applicator, can buy amazing or Canadian tire, or any auto supple store,
or can use debit card, gentle push out from centre to edges, when done,
lightly wipe off and let dry, solution under decal will evaporate with in few hours.

Or any sign shope will install for $50 or less.
many sign shops could make that for cheaper than $70 bucks

I have past experience unfortunately and most of my equipment still.
I’m going to just print my own.
It’s cheaper
This was the second attempt with the ford performance one.
Yes I should have done a wet install I agree.
Thank you for the tips!
I have heat gun so taking off will be easy.
Anyone want a new Mach 6 hood sticker??
Have a extra

I can so relate. With YouTube and other instructions on the internet, I sometimes think I can do just about any repair or installation if I watch/follow the video and read the instructions.

I bought a stripe kit for my 2010 Mustang - it was not cheap, and took months to arrive. I watched numerous installation videos and read a lot of articles on how to install stripes. I purchased the proper tools and mixed up the recommended solution, and carefully cleaned and stripped the area where the stripes would go.

There are three stripes on the “hood bulge” and stripes going from the hood down each front fender. I started off with the large center stripe and carefully placed it and started squeegeeing it in place. It was 95% complete when I pulled one of the front corners too hard and stretched and puckered it. I peeled it up, balled it up, and threw it in the garbage.

A few days later, I was talking to another Mustang owner and told him what I had done. He suggested that I take it to a shop in Charlottetown he had used for stripes (Pressed for Time) to see if they could do anything.

I took the leftover stripes in there and a picture of what they were supposed to look like on. I met with their head stripe guy. He looked at my stripes, went out back, and came out

with a roll of 3M vinyl with the same colour code as on the stripe kit.

I asked him if there was any way he could fabricate a new large centre stripe from his vinyl to fit with the pieces I still had, and install all of the striping for me. He pondered that for a bit, did some math on a scrap of paper, and said it would be $150. I asked him if that was for the new stripe piece, he said both for the new stripe piece, and installed it, and the rest of the stripes. Had I known a professional could do it for that kind of price, I would never have attempted it - DIY can give a lot of satisfaction, but it can get expensive if you have problems.

Here are the results, very happy with it, and a good lesson.

Thank you!
This site has some amazing people that actually care.
Everywhere else it’s all bullies.
Respect to everyone that’s responded to my many posts.

I feel your disappointment when a job goes sideways, it’s never as simple as it looks. The guys who show you how on YouTube have ruined how many in trial? We will never know! As previous posters has mentioned, the wet install plan seems to work out best and lots of pre marking and taping for reference. I’ve done a few, the first we won’t talk about. Sometimes the least stress on the body, mind and pocket book is to let the practiced installers earn their cash.
Best of luck with which ever route you choose.
