Handheld Radios

What do you reco for handheld radios to use during runs with a large amount of cars? We had a run on the weekend and got split up and handhelds would have helped!

We have a few sets of Cobra radios. They seem to work the best for us. However they are affected by hills and turns when it comes to range unfortunately. The 35 mile range they claim is mountain top to mountain top I'm sure.lol Works better when we have radios at different spots in the run and not just front and back. These are the newest ones we got. There are some lower prices alternatives that will do the job as well.

We use Motorola Talkabout two-way Radio T4XX series work like a charm.

When on the run, I am using a set of Midland radios. cannot remember the model #, but great quality. I've learned early on that it's better to avoid the frustration of ''cheap'' radio set and invest a little more.
As Charlie said above, the range is nowhere near what is claimed, but every bit of claimed range helps the real range on the run!

I have had $39 dollar radios, I have had $200 radios
now I am runny cat radios think I paid $139
heres what I know, made no difference,
what ever they say on package is BS
any more than a few KM's won't hear nothing.

Find ones that go up to 40 channels
as we normallly run on 10 or 18 on runs
big runs we make sure someone in middle to relay nessages backwards and front wards
as front car can never talk to back car

pay attention to where we are going and you will end up in same place
when run is done, oh and smile your driving your mustang
no such thing as lost
