Conversation 2022 fall run PEI

I will remind people, we will give lots of info, but if Lunch is your main goal on the run
your missing something and I can't fix that :ROFLMAO: with an hour and half, I can pack stuff and make lunch if
nothing is there, I know I am not alone, missing a meal won't hurt me LOL.

Although not super expensive, do not make the mistake of buying the $50 kit (ask me how I know ... ). You make think you have a good deal, but the only thing you end up doing is buying two different sets. I believe they can be had for around $80 and over and be good enough to last forever.
On my end I've got a set of the Midland brand for Xmas. I believe they can be purchased at Costco.ca (the ones i have).

Gerry’s suggestion for West loop is a very nice drive. Issue comes into the amount of time to do the loop starting/ending in Summerside to drive both coastal sides. Lunch for 60 + people would likely need to be brown bagging and coffee stops are limited for a crowd. Drive is great. Food, coffee & restrooms are the challenge, from my take. There are nice smaller lunch spots, coffee shops, a Tim’s, etc. but managing 30ish cars and 60=people injects some logistical challenges.
Gerry's idea sounds good to me. Will take some planning as a number of places like North Cape and West Point Lighthouses will be closing after Sept long weekend. Tignish is only larger community (with only one larger restaurant and a Cafe I believe) on that loop.. So as Aaron says lunch may be brown bag? Alberton/NorthPort has a nice restaurant but not sure if it is open into the fall. Having said that the drive around the shore -- no matter which direction -- is interesting. As far as roads some were redone in the past year but others may not be as nice. But spring is a new construction season! It is a full day of driving to do the whole shore route with short stops.

A central option, leaving Chtown. A stop in North Rustico for coffee. Lunch in Summerside with some scatter lunch spots close together. A stop in North Carleton for a pic with the Confederation Bridge for background. A stop at Gateway Village for coffee, restroom, ice cream, etc. Around route 19a with a stop at at Fort Amherst, then back to Chtown.

Here's a good look at the area Gerry Suggested. Google Maps timeline suggests 3:30 hrs or so.
To North Cape from Summerside:

North Cape back to Summerside:

Again...difficulty with the key amenities for the group. The Provincial parks are closed by this point in Sept, so Green Park & Cedar Dunes would be good rest stops with washrooms any other time. The remainder of options would be what you would expect in most small towns....a cafe or two...gas bars for restroom stops, etc.

This route can be shortened across Alberton through Bloomfield to West Cape & route 14.

We did part of the Central route on a previous run I think. I would like to see if the Western run to North Cape can be made happen even if we amend the route to shorten if necessary. Thanks for the route maps Aaron. That helps everyone visualize where we would run.

the central option you would have more options for washrooms and food

This may translate to less down time, which hopefully equals more drive time.

And if we were to take a poll today, I’ll admit I’m all about driving over standing around.

But, that’s just me, and I digress. ?

how many driving hours is the idea run
If we can leave at 9 have a morning break - and lunch at noon -about 2- 2:15 driving in the AM. Lunch is usually 1.5 hr, so about 3 hrs driving in the afternoon with a 1/2 hr stop gets us to hotel around 5. We often have to juggle lunch a 1/2 hr one way or another for local conditions. Always have options as you saw on the last one - there are always route changes that happen on the fly
