Ideal idle speed?

Cannot really relate to it, as I left it where my tuner set it at. I believe he left it at 750. with the cams, sometimes it surges coming to a stop light (dips in the 4-500 territory) so I don't really want to try my chances lower.
In the spring when I get her out of storage, couple of times she will stall at stop lights as it is doing the idle relearn lol ?

end of the day, 650 sounds like a lowest I would personally go but, unless a tuner chimes in with tuning experience/ reasons to not go lower, I couldn't tell you what would be good or not ...

Not sure where this matches other tunes, but Pete set a higher cold start idle settling in at 1000 rpm for my tune. CAI, 85mm TB and Boss intake manifold make any difference for settings?

Yes, they all contribute in some way to same issue Gerry mentions above.
They all let more air in than factory parts.

Actually, a cold start idle speed is very common.
Even some factory settings are like that.
Once if warms to parameters it should drop a 100 or two rpms.
Does it?

It kind of replaces a choke on carb cars.
Because fuel injection has no choke, that faster idle for brief period ensures no stall until warmer.
Gerry can confirm, but I think it also makes better combustion while cold at higher idle so a pollution issue as well.

What your video shows is pretty much how mine are setup.

In fact, my 06, with the ported heads, big cam, TB, CMD included in the high flow intake manifold and long tubes, not only likes the higher cold start idle, it really does not work that well until well warmed up.

Example, if I start it and want to move it right away, it requires higher throttle input to prevent jerking and lurching.
That makes for more clutch slippage.
Like a novice driver.
But once warmed up, it becomes much smoother and easy to drive.
It’ll never be factory drivability again but it works much better when warmed up.
Won’t lurch at low rpm.

So now I have opened the door to those who want to take a few cracks at my driving abilities.
Enjoy while it’s there. ?
