Picture was Realy good up to the Dodge 😂
Years ago, back when owning a Cobra was still a bit of a dream, I worked in large parts dept. at a car dealer, A young fellow came in and was asking some questions about part he needed for his car. He wasn't certain what it was called, so I suggested we go out and I would have a look at it, to identify what he needed.
He said, "Oh I didn't drive it here, I drove my Shelby." My ears perked up immediately, and I asked him what model he had. He said "Its a Daytona"|
I thought holy crap, I got to see this, and practically dragged him outside to have a peak. Sure enough it was a Dodge Daytona model, and not even the best example condition wise.
I hoped he didn't sense my total disappointment, as I went from being elated at one moment to losing the wind in my sail..,:( As it may have been his pride and joy. I think I just said, "Wow that's cool", or something like that, and headed back inside.. Not quite what i was hoping for..😚
Not that I'm knocking the Dodge, as they do hold a place in automotive history, and I expect old Carroll made a few dollars from them. Rated at 146 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, it gave the Daytona Turbo model fairly strong acceleration for its time.
