Audi Lunched thier car today, as a full works team.
Audi has never been in F-1, they have won at lemans, world rally
But this is F-1 they are big and have the resources,
they say, they want to be competing for championships by 2030
be intersting to see how they do.

Ferrari runs its 2026 car Private test track, filming day
they have gone more white and back to shiny red for colours

bigeest eraly thing to notice is how big the gap is below the wing,
seems to be a trend and front wings are all different.
I expect the cars to look a lot different in Melbourne based on what I read.

Seems major controversy brewing and testing has not even started.
Apparently Redbull and mercedes found the first loop hole in the rules.
Engines can only be 16-1 compression ratio, but is tested when cold at Ambient
temperature. When car get to operating temp compression goes to 18-1
rumors are this is worht 3 to 4 ths a lap.

FIA has said they have no plans in changing the testing, other teams are already screaming,
typically FIA tends to close loop holes fast, problme is on noth sides, with new engine there is no quick fix.
Politica and power already in full swing in F-1 talking of official protest at Melbourne

it is going to be a very interesting year, to see who has what and who adjusts the quickest
to fix problmes they find,
 
One thing I always enjoyed about the old IROC series was the concept of identical cars , all prepared by an independent organization with no stake in the races.

No games, just driving skill, although the IROC series track schedule was heavily biased towards those drivers that only turn left. ;)

Then again, that being said, race teams finding loopholes in the sanctioning body rules package is part of the fun.

there is alot to be said for one model racing series with identical specs and cars for all.
Honda Michelin series was amazing, Media spec series and ultiple others,
the down said is as said, it limits to one manufacture it also limits engineering.

If you look at road cars and most of it tech, it comes from F-1
being the leading edge means the design and build things
to go faster, safer then anyone, these trickle down to road cars.

Plus to both types of racing for every reason.
Of course racing creates folks who push every boundary
IE cheating lol. everyone wants and edge.

I like almost every form of racing and watch as much as I can
follow others on sports pages etc.

F-1 this year is doing something never done before,
changing car and pwoer train, Power train even being split
50 regular engine and 50% electrical power,
which creates even more problems.

What we all get is coming in modern cars, short term some crazy ups and downs
for next few years.

Iroc was great, No mustang aloud, so didn't have to worry about gettting there arse kicked 😁

I saw the news on the compression controversy. Big question is, what exactly do the rules state? If it says they have to meet a set compression ratio when cold, and the hot engine factor is not, shouldn't it be accepted as a team engineers pure genius and be rewarded for it? Do they suddenly change the rules in the late stages of the game?
No doubt other teams will be cruing the blues, but really, if one team can do it, shouldn't other team have been working on it building a better car? If it meets the rules as they are currently written, I feel it should be allowed. I think a big part of racing has always been the amazing feats engineers have come up with to make cars better, be it speed, fuel consumption, aero, etc, etc. They win races because they are good at what they do.

the problem comes in testing that
they currently do that on cold car with ambient temperature .

Teams are saying change testing procedure. FIA is saying no

According to news articles, they are using engines with the
ability to expand internally creating 18-1 under racing temps
as you said some pretty cool engineering,
Can other teams do it, yes, but not quickly enough,

Whos right?
 
The private F-1 test is happening in Barcelona this week,
so Naturally there are some pictures and info.

Most doing test running trying to under cars and get data
Mercedes has very different front wing,

Frint and rear wings will be active with ability for driver to pen or close when they want.
Smaller lighter and so far reasonaable feed back, drivers saying
very driveable, but lots more for them to do,

Rumors are they will be slower, but top speeds could be much faster
Also they can manage the power and use extra where ever they want.
 
Some times from today, leaked of course as timing loop is turned off.
Last years qauli time was a 1:16 so not bad considering
at this point they are doing data and trying to log laps.

you can bet they wanted lots of data, but also first
look for each to see others cars,
I suspect first officail test in Bahrain cars will be different again

I even think what were seeing now, will be different form first race in Melbourne
Positive is they sound ok, ( Not a V-10) look a bit smaller and more nimble.
And not as slow as we all thought, Drivers so far all report
better balance from last spec cars.
 
Folks should read this link, F-1 sustainable fuels,
I knew it was here, had no idea exactly what it meant.
this is ground break and can be transfered to road cars,
No crude oil is used in the making of this, wild if you aks me,
if it works, what does that do to EV"s?
