So heres my question to the techies out there.
You can buy a gas Ford f-150 with a generator
that will help power your house when power is out,

Could I but the elctric truck with a generator
then I could charge my truck while driving and never
need to stop to plug in

What Hugh said.
Hybrid does not need plughing in.
The engine and regenerative braking charge the batteries.
Engine acts as a generator.
It can power your house or a work site.
Engine can shut down for short battery only trips.

Plug-in hybrid (no F150’s like this yet) can give you longer intial battety range with a plug-in charge but still has engine that will kick in when battery runs low.
So technically same independance as regular hybrid, meaning pluging in not absolutely required.

The Lightning all electric will require plug in for any charge.

I’m not a techy.
This is straight from Ford sales training.
