[h=1]German Bred, American Mannered: Coyote Swapped Porsche[/h]

A few months ago, we teased a particular Coyote swapped Porsche Cayman with a quick dyno video from our friends at Power By The Hour.
We learned then that the car was built by the Porsche aficionados at Limitless Motorworks, another Florida native like PBYH. This time, we got to sit down with LM’s Frank Rodriguez. He gave us some of the details you were all dying for below.

“We cut up the car so much through the extent of the build,” Rodriguez said. “We actually moved the engine up about four inches, so the weight distribution is forty seven in the front, fifty three in the rear. We only picked up 56 pounds of weight when all was said and done. It has a very mild tune–it’s meant to last.
“It runs 30 minute sessions on the track, then cools off for another 30 minutes, and the cycle repeats. The owner drives it everywhere–it still has A/C and power steering. The whole setup breathes quite well–there’s no additional heat from the larger engine.”

Rodriguez explained that they thought this Porsche would be a one-off thing; but said there’s been so many enthusiasts accepting this, and wanting their own.
“They’re asking how much it costs to duplicate this, or if there’s a kit together,” Rodriguez told us.
“We’re not in the business of making kits–we’re just a Porsche shop. The owner asked for engine options, and our natural first option was a Porsche 3.8-liter flat-six option. After hearing the pricing on those engines, he asked to explore other engine options outside of Porsche.
“Our friend Joshua with Blog of Speed [a big Ford fan] recommended we use a 5.0-liter Coyote engine. We called around a few places, and no one really had any options. But we called Kennedy Engineering Products In Texas, and after a few email conversations back and forth, we started building and testing. This package has been tested for more than one hundred laps at the track, and this package runs with a $200,000 Porsche Cup Car without a doubt.”

Concluding our conversation with Rodriguez, if there’s ever a selling point to be made with this Coyote swapped German coupe; it’s that the folks at Limitless Motorworks stated they estimate the maintenance cost on this Porsche to only be about one quarter the price of a normal Porsche. How crazy is that?
