    1983 GL, project: Cheap Thrills

Really slacking off these days. Depression is making it hard to get anything done. Its an effort to just drag myself out of bed. But, i dragged my sorry butt out to the garage today and did some metal work: I had repaired the rusted out a pillar many moons ago when my skill level wasnt quite...

    1983 GL, project: Cheap Thrills

driver side door done: installed the power window regulator, glass and the door reinforcements. Still have to cut and shape the door at the mirror and rear openings. I left them a little long when I cut the hardtop window frames off so I would have enough to properly shape them. Hard to...

    1983 GL, project: Cheap Thrills

After slicing up two rusty doors to get the glass out (doors were rusted out junk), I spent my morning taking two windows from this: To this: Took a clothes steamer, a razor blade and a lot of patience. It was on there good, likely very old. I despise window tint. Others may like window...

Please excuse the messy garage. Lots of stuff in there and lots of work going one. That's what you get working over winter in a 1 car garage... That's the passenger side door with the power window regulator installed. You can see the special reinforcement strip installed on the door frame top...

Important bit of work done, but nothing that look spectacular in pics. I finished fitting the steering shaft. I "hybrided" a fox upper shaft with and sn95 lower coupling. Took all day to get it fit as I had to clearance the headers. This was a pita as Everytime I had to remove the headers I had...

Spent the day doing some interior stuff, From this: to this: All wired and bolted down. The dash pad is just sitting on it. That's the new (to me) tilt column I grabbed for 25 bucks from a terminally rust rotted 85 Capri. I had to swap some stuff over, but it was a pretty painless...

Oh ye of little faith. Its going in with 1/4" steel rivets instead of the OEM aluminum and all the joints are getting seam sealed. The full length subframe connectors and torque arm rear suspension will deal with the engine torque. Weather strips are all being replaced with new. Tops doors...

    Enough of this bloody truck!

I've only ever had sync 3, so nothing to compare it to. Works very nicely for me. Carplay, however, sucks. I got it working with mine and I turned that crap off shortly after enabling it. Probably the worst interface I've ever used in a vehicle. My Sync 3 system stands heads and shoulders over...

Now, to explain a little bit: The air cleaner wasn't going to clear the hood. Even with the bracing removed, it was going to need about an inch or two at the front. More when it's running/accelerating. I wasn't changing the intake to a lower rise in order to clear the hood, so it needed a...

    Enough of this bloody truck!

Went for a 2016 F150 3.5 ecoboost. Lariat, option code 502A and sport trim package. Max tow package. Seems to take a lot of styling cues from the 2013 Ford Atlas concept truck and that's a good thing. 365 hp and 420 lbft and that's another good thing. :) 17100 GCWR, 11600 tow...

    Enough of this bloody truck!

I've got a 1998 GMC K2500 6.5 turbo diesel. Engine is 4 years old. I had it put in myself. It's a redesigned block, not a re-manufactured, Same engine they dropped in the Up-armored HMMWV. Everything else on the truck has been replaced at one time or another except the transmission. It's...

Well, today wasn't a total loss. Garage is clean enough to actually work in again, I managed to get the first topcoat of Tremclad on and started fabricating a patch piece for where the rad panel connects to the fender support.
