I've never had a battery do that before. My charger is supposed to be one of those "intelligent" Chargers that have overcharge protection and it's supposed to keep track of how hot it gets but Holy Crap that was quite the surprise on a Saturday morning and yes we don't leave it unattended anymore!

I had my original Motorcraft battery for 10 years. Just replaced it with a Ford battery for that reason. But when it did go, it was on the trickle charger and the fluid was boiling in it. I'm lucky I caught it when I did and that it never caught fire!
