Mcdavis
King of the road trip
Yes we love going to the Dream Cruise, have done it a number of times over the years. We lived in Detroit from 1999-2002 so know it well. Last came two years ago, enjoyed the build-up and the cruising on Thurs and Fri, then parked on Mustang Alley for the main event on the Saturday, and watched the fun.
For those that don’t know, it is the largest moving car show in the World. They estimate 50,000 vehicles and 1 million people. Basically a number of miles of Woodward Avenue, 3 lanes in each direction, becomes a slow moving display one Saturday each August. All along the route you get vendors, cars show, car clubs taking over parking lots, manufacturers having stands etc etc and of course people watching.
See http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/ for more details, a real bucket list item. There are also various things happening on the couple of days before as well. So we have often found it best to cruise on the Friday when the traffic moves better and then spectate on the Saturday.
Also on the day after, the Sunday, at Ford WHQ is Mustang Memories, a massive Mustang show, More than 1,000 vehicles, vendors etc. We volunteered as judges in 2017 and are back as judges again this year. A great way to get involved and poke around people’s cars!
Pictures to come during the trip, stay tuned.
